  • prevention is better than cure

  • trying to quit because i getting close to being caught (im 15) started 6 months ago after just 6 hours with a cigarette or dip or something with nicotine i get anxiety, irritable, shaky and all that its easier said then done trying to substitute it with dip and nicotine gum its just not the same i know now why all the adults that smoke say never start started on 3 cigs a day and didnt think i would get addicted then after a few months i was buying packs its just a stupid thing to do

  • It's not the nicotine I miss... but the rituals I got used to.

In the morning: coffee with a cigarette.. after lunchbreak: smoke a cigarette.. waiting on the bus/train: smoke a cigarette etc. etc.

It's not the "reward" from nicotine.... it's the smoking itself that got into my daily routine and the first week it feels very weird if that part of the routine is suddenly left out.

  • So many smokers believe that when they quit smoking they will experience horrendous withdrawal symptoms when infact the complete opposite is true. The effects of withdrawal are almost imperceptible, it is the desire to smoke and the feeling of being denied that is the real problem. You have to confront your psychological triggers and remove years of brainwashing and all of the lies that you have been telling your subconscious about smoking. Nicotine creates all of the problems it *cures*.

  • the first week is really tough .......i quit cold turkey a week ago and i m in 2 week now no urges whatsoever..............

  • Stop Smoking is easy but your are so lazy

  • If you need "treatment" you dont wanna quit bad enough.

  • My one problem with the current quitting solutions is that there's a lot of emphasis on the chemical dependence, but not so much on the behavorial factors. My father has made several attempts to quit smoking. The thing that always gets him are the rituals - being used to having a smoke during certain activities, and even the feeling of the cigarette in his hand or behind his ear. Obviously, everyone is different, but is there a chance that this could be a large factor is so many setbacks?

  • Cold turkey since Monday after smoking since 1985. Just did it. Anybody who is considering giving them up, the fact you have visited a video like this on You Tube shows you are heading in the right direction. Believe in yourself...if I can do it anybody can. Best of luck!

  • Another option to Quit. The ecig or electronic cigarette works for many.

  • that's not entirely true. Nicotine causes Dopamine to be released, which makes us feel good. The Dopamine levels drop very quickly, giving us a craving to get more Dopamine flowing through our brain.

  • my mom smoked and we made her promise she tried for months quit and started agian but now its completly outta her system its been 6years

  • @philateliceun So you've quit? If you did, good for you. It is a DEATH TRAP and you have to be strong, but you can do it!

  • @philateliceun Gratz on quitting smoking again.

  • I smoked 2 packs of Camel Filters a day for over 30 years and I just celebrated 3 years without one puff of tobacco. My dad and my grandfather both died of lung cancer. When I hit 50 I knew if I didn't kick that monkey I was going to carry on the tradition of dying from smoking tobacco. It was the hardest thing Ive ever had to do but I did it. Ive been 100% tobacco free for over 3 years !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Im going to live!

  • @sparkybigp you're lucky :)

  • too bad the clinics are too far from me

  • drink coffee and occupying the mouth with gum or chewing on straws does the trick pretty well. after a week the body doesn't doesn't crave it.

  • @Paperclown Coffee is a trigger for tobacco. Gum chewing, and mouthwash after food or drink is good though. As well as drinking unsweetened grapefruit juice to wash the nicotine out of the bloodstream.

  • @DotsVoiceStudios: Why do British people on youtube mispronounce english words? In particular the TH sounds becomes FR. Tree=Free, Thought=Fought, Think=Fink. That really irritates me.

Is their speech impediment because of overbites? The British really need proper vocal coaches.

  • @Paperclown

    Prepare to be flamed:

    1. It's called an accent. A British one. Replacing TH with F is much less ridiculous than many of your stupid, pathetic and irritating American accents.

    2. I think that since we invented the language, we have a right to pronounce our words however we want to.

    3. At most, we don't mispronounce English, we mispronounce American, which is a mispronunciation and grammatically incorrect version of English itself.

God, America really needs to get educated.

  • @CharasDub: I don't care. A speech therapist explained people that talk that way are the lower class Britons, much like Hillbillies in the US.

  • i have gone 6months without smoking, then 3 months ,them 2 weeks of not smoking but everytime i still go backs, its been 24 hrs now and i havent had a cigarette and trust me i think about it every min.

  • nothing has ever made me want a cig more than seeing those little 'N's hooking up

  • im trying to get my brothers friend to quit. I said it will blacken your lungs. And hes like: BUT IM YOUNG AND I DONT CARE. What should i do?

  • Hi, everyone!

It helped me to kick my smoking habit for good!

  • that hurt to see the pack thrown away at the beginning

  • i quit last sunday....13 years at a pack a day..first 3 days were hard, but i used the gum(nicotine) to take the edge off, by day 5 i wasnt in need of the gum, i feel great on day 7 i have no physical need to smoke, ONLY after i eat a meal do i get a sensation of wanting to go out and smoke, it lasts maybe 2 minutes and it goes away......the first 3 days it was more physical needs then mental then after a few days it was more mental then physical.....atleast for me anyway

  • Here's the recipe:

STOP. Grin and bear it. NOW why can't I just do it?

  • 3 days w/out smoking i been real hard.

  • The best way to take the step to stop smoking is with the help of Green Smoke. Stop sucking in tars and poisons while continuing to smoke! C hoose nicotine levels, flavors and get going today. Check out the link in my profile.

  • @mosiefool I agree on that in places where u eat and drink (like restaurants) because u cant enjoy your food if u are a non-smoker, but outside ... 1 car's exhaust does more damage then 500 cigarettes ! So if i follow your conclusion if someone drives a car >> SECOND HAND DRIVING MURDER ? And then I havent spoken of the sun yet (sunlight gives cancer) ...

  • @mosiefool PS I'm not a "real addictive" smoker, I only smoke when going out or just when drinking a beer or so (social smoker). I smoke 3 cig a day, 12 years long already.

  • @phtmexplo i see but the thing is it could be effecting someone how do you know itss not i agree the car does cause more damage your absloutelyy right thats why we have to stop those also but smokeing doess to and not even one person should be effected how does a person know if someones being effected

  • @mosiefool U gonna stop cars from driving also?? sorry i dont wanna go back to cavemen ... my great-grandma died 2 years ago, she was 103 years old and smoked a whole pack of cigs a day, my nice died at the age of 17 (cancer) and she didnt tough 1 cigarette.

  • @mosiefool What u mean "the car air goes around" ? The cigarette smoke goes around also ... dont know what u mean by that sorry.

  • Can anyone out there help me by telling me how long the irritability lasts? I am in the process of quitting and I am really feeling some massive on and off tension. Edginess, An hour will go on with me being mega pissed at everything, I'll feel physical subtle tingling followed by sensitivity which leads to a feeling pissed? I quit yesterday during the afternoon, so, this is my real full day of quitting.

How long will it feel like this? Please.

  • @BPhire I hope you've stuck with it--you should be feeling much better by now. I quit on January 16 after smoking for 12 years. I noticed three distinct plateaus; one at day 4, one around day 15, and another after about 8 weeks. After the two week point it was much easier and now I only really have a craving once every day or two. Good luck to you-keep trying and you will get it!

  • I'm a damn chain smoker :\ I'd never take an anti depressant to stop smoking though. I hate those things. The gum I think I can do though.

  • DONT RUN FROM QUITTING, Hell, Dont Listen To me, If You Know a Better way To Quit, Then Go Go, Go!

Its your Life your saving, You wont realise it until you actually stop smoking, and smell the roses.

Just Do what Ever you can to Quit- Its a shitty habit, that does nothing for you but Kill, make you broke, and makes you Stink,

Just the regaining of Smell and taste, and Being able to walk without choking was a Gift to me- I dont know how much damage I did

But I can smell my mornings, and breath

  • The Human Body Works much better without Tobacco smoke, Toxins, Poisons, chemicals, Pharmacuticals. That Big Corporate Business say You NEED in order to live a Better life.. LIES,LIES.

Listen to your self. You Know Bad from Good.

    Make a Plan to Quit.

"Those who Fail to Plan,-Plan to Fail"

I did it, I cant believe I did it after 32 years of saying I tried, and Failing, I Finally Quit after making a Plan- If I can QUIT SMOKING-ANYONE CAN- YOU CAN QUIT TOBACCO.

MAKE A PLAN AND WIN - JUST DO IT !

  • A Pack of ciggeretes is designed with your laziness in mind, it holds 20 ciggeretts, tells you their filtered to protect you, and each ciggerett holds a determined amount of Poisoness Nicotine to keep your addiction constant- You Buy them out of habit, change brands thinking your helping yourself by using lights, ultra lights, super ultra lights..

YOUR PLAYING THEIR GAME WITH THEIR RULES.

    Make your own RULES.

Plan to reduce your Nicotine Intake by reducing the amount of tobacco you inhale

  • The Damage We unknowingly Do to ourselves within the course of our lifetime is immeasurable.

It doesnt help that Corporations Profit from it.

regardless of your family crying over your lung cancer, or your linbs being removed from bad Circulation, watching you live a lower quality of life in the short amount of time we all have here

Make A stand to Take back your life by making a Plan to Quit- Reduce your Nicotine intake, and regain your freedom, and your right to live out your life JUST DO IT

  • Cigarette companies create CONVENIENCE for you, they instill LIES like," Filtered for your pleasure"-(Addiction) you think its protecting you from the harshness of the smoke, or maybe its true that theres bad shit in them..but you cant quit because the dosage of Nicotine in the cigarette is strong enough to keep you puffing on them.

MAKE A STAND, MAKE A PLAN, REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF NICOTINE

Use Organic Tobacco Roll Pin joints, and Ween yourself off

If I Could quit smoking - then ANYONE CAN.

  • @IronBattalions I was RMO, (rolling my own)

with the American spirit- maybe your right to an extent,

I rolled these really small cigarettes from it- (looked as thought it was a joint)

Anyway, I would roll one up, and snap it in half, and smoke one half to lose the edge of needing a cigarette, and smoke the other half within the hour of the last one- I did this for like 7-8 months, and then threw them in the barrel never picked it up again.

SO, -Whatever the case maybe, I"m Clean from them now.

  • Congradulations.

I gave up smoking for smokeless (chew tobacco) but it is starting to mess up my teeth so i'm working on a plan to quit. I hope I make it.

  • I hope you do it, if you fail after an attempt, get pissed- That was my motivation, A little late in the game but for years I said I could quit , and when I realizes I couldnt, I felt powerless, and then one day after learning they were spraying more Chem's on them for the"Fire Safe Ciggs" I really got pissed and went into overdrive for an escape- I chose to ween myself off without realizing it..If I could Quit smoking, ANYBODY CAN- No Shit. YOU CAN do it man, Fuck the Tobbacco Companies,

  • Life is TOO DAMN SHORT to let the tobacco companies steal your latter years tied to an Oxygen tank, dying from lung ailments, etc.

There Are things YOU want to do in Life, you only get one chance with some things- Keep quitting, Ween yourself off of them it works, cut your Nicotine in half and then in half again after a few months, and then toss them- you wont believe your success.

    JUST DO IT

I quit when they were $5.75 a pack, Now their $8.00 after 18 months. I saved up after a year over$2500.

  • A standard cigarette is designed in size to hold enough Nicotine to keep you addicted- IF YOU REDUCE the size of the standard cigarette, you REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF NICOTINE

Thats why I used the Organic Roll your own, spun them up real thin, and then Broke them in half, to just take away the immediate craving, then smoked the other half later on-

THIS WORKS after 31 years I was finally winning by reducing the levels of Poison in my blood. Your Life WILL CHANGE 4 THE BETTER JUST DO IT UNTIL YOU WIN

  • 18 months later, I am $3000. richer, My Lung Volume has increased to the point that I can blow out a candle 3 feet away, -My ol'lady still smokes-(doesnt listn)- I'll be out in the back yard, And know when she's out front smoking- I can smell it 100 feet away- I think thats a riot like i have super smelling powers-but thats how its supposed to be when you dont smoke.

I can smell things that I remember when I was a kid, taste comes back, sleep soundly.

just a few benefits from quitting

    JUST DO IT

  • I put on some weight afterward, and had it for 8 months until I made a stand on that issue to by walking- I could now , long distances without sweating, and stopping for a smoke.

But it all comes off, your sweat no longer smells, your body has a host of poisons it no longer has to get rid of- everything changes,

I feel 20 years younger being able to breath.

Overwhelmed at my success, I started preaching to smokers, which is the wrong thing to do when they dont wanna quit.

    So, I do that anymore.

  • "Smoking, Why Is It so Hard to quit ?"

I never had a plan to quit, except "Stop Buying them"- That doesnt work with addictive substances. REDUCING THE NICOTINE one cigarette at a time WILL DO IT.

Mayo clinic, "The PAtch", the gum,-They Need you to stay addicted in order for them to show a profit-

Reduce the size of your Cigarettes by rolling them yourself, find organic tobacco, theres less of a chance it will have extra nicotine in it then break them in half to make two to sooth the craving,

  • They spray Chemicals on it to keep it lit, But US legislation was passed for "Fire Safe Cigarette to keep them from burning down the house. so they spray additional chemicals on it to put it out if you stop puffing on it.

It just makes you sicker, but you cant tell because you feel sick to begin with.

THEY DONT CARE IF YOU DONT CARE. With everyone from Hospitals, Pharmaceutical Co's, and Big Tobacco all making a profit at your expense,

-Your only good to all of them until your last breath.

  • Every Attempt you Make to Stop using Tobacco is a threat to the Monsters making a profit off of you, so expect an Influx of counterattacks from Bogus products and quick fix cures that keep you on the profit margins.

Organic Tobacco has 1/2 the addictive nicotine of Marlboro's, Rolling Organic tobacco into small pin like joints, and smoking half will reduce the nicotine, reduce the cravings, and you will be able to quit within a couple of months. - FREEDOM FROM THE CHAINS OF CORPORATE TOBACCO.

  • mY DEAR HOW DID YOU QUITE SMOKING DID YOU TAKE ANY MEDICNE FROM DOCTOR OR IT WAS YOUR WILL POWER KINDLY HELP ME FRIEND FOR QUITING SMOKING I WILL BE REALLY THANKFULL TO YOU !

  • i find it really helps when you stay away from it... and i mean people who smoke or places where people smoke... ofcourse this isent possible ALL the time

but ive smoked for 10 years and im going almost a month now clean

  • Just get an e-cig

  • Going to that clinic or not , that video helped me , alot to understand whats going on in a simple way , cause some videos just explain the hard doctor prescription way , this way a good video for me thankx uploader

  • I am 3wks and 3 days cold turkey .. It has seemed fairly easy this time and I really at this point have no urge to go back .. I hope this last..

  • @dolphinx4

This is the 2nd time I'm quitting and I was always doing it cold turkey. I feel the same way. I trust nicotine less and less. My last relapse was on daily cigars and I will not make that mistake again. Cut nicotine and tobacco out completely. Don't suppress/ weaken the urge, kill it.

  • Best of luck to you !!! I am still not smoking 6 wks tomorrow .. woohoo :)

  • @dolphinx4 hope? there is no need for hope. it never helped you. would you consider someone who charged you $3000 a year to rob you of your health, wealth, vitality, looks, energy, confidence etc, a friend? it's easy to quit. the withdrawal symptoms are nothing. they are at their MAX after 1hr and subside after that. so the most withdrawal you have ever had was when you were a smoker. now (and this is a fact), you have absoloutely no physical nicotine dependence.

  • @ChangingThe IDK why you commented towards me in this way ,but I am happy to say I have not smoked in over 8 months and am doing fine ... :)

  • @dolphinx4 on reflection i guess it seemed a little rude and "in your face". congratulations. i have done the first of two sessions for quit smoking. the second is on tuesday so i haven't even quit yet. do you remember how it felt getting your fitness, smell, taste etc back? tell me

  • @ChangingThe I am actually still trying to get my fitness back i gained about 15 pounds since I quit and have just started to tackle that quest . My smell and taste have really changed .. My smell is so much stonger now and my taste well lets just say that is the reason for the 15 pound weight gain ... LOL good luck with quitting it is mainly mind over matter at least it was for me .....

  • @dolphinx4 So its been over a year, how are you doing?

  • It's so hard to believe that I'm on my 17th day of not smoking!

I'm using the Chantix to quit. That and I can remember what it was like before I started 21 years ago. It helps to remember. I was smoke free in my life once. I know I can do it again. This time, one way or another, it's my last attempt. It's make or break.

  • Congrats, hope you're still doing well! I'm almost 2 months cold turkey. It's hard at first but then it got alot easier but I still have goods days and bad days. I wonder if I should use Chantix.

  • If you have gone 2 months without smoking, you don't need to use chantix.....or anything else. You are now a non-smoker. enjoy your new healthy lifestyle and forget about smoking completely. Well done for quitting.

  • i've been smoking about 10 a day for the past 5 - 6 years and i gave up two weeks ago - cold turkey. The first 4 days are madness but if you can get past that then your home free. After that is all psychological, but because you've put so much into quitting your not likely to give up it.

  • I agree after a week its alpsycological and that takes time to break all those habits I just quit a month ago ...good luck

  • Good Luck ! Quit Smoking!

  • Aikigirl61,

Well, firstly the facts I quoted you haven't challenged. Why? Because they are facts.

So when you said 'never' you were mistaken.

Please - forget what the drug companies say, look at independent research - including that to which I've already referred.

I have treated smokers for very nearly twenty years (a lot more than 1000). Touche!

  • i was read that nicotine is not big deal to gett rid..smoker body is learn to work whith other harmfull chamichals that is problem ..i was use nicotine gum but is not helping me to much i smoking again

  • The chemicals are out in a couple of weeks - but the thoughts can last forever. That's why Hypnotherapy is the proven best way of quitting.

If you think it's mainly chemical what about when you're asleep? Addiction gone!!!!!!!

  • Sorry, hypnosis has NEVER been shown to be effective.

  • Aikigirk61,

Please check facts before you make statements - smoking KILLS. So to write something without justification that can discourage people is grossly irresponsible.

Fact: the largest ever meta-analysis showed that, 'Hypnotherapy is the proven most successful treatment for quitting smoking...' New Scientist Magazine 1991.

Some four years ago the Advertising Standards Authority did thorough research before validating a study that put Hypnotherapy as comfortably the most successful.

  • I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that New Scientist Magazine was a peer reviewed scientific journal... And by the way, 1991?! Please tell me that you aren't a medical doctor....

  • Had you asked, I would have been able to tell you that New Scientist Magazine was quoting from the biggest peer-reviewed meta-study ever carried out - in effect 72,000 people were being looked at. That's why it was so special.

There are much more up-to-date studies that come down even more heavily in favour of Hypnotherapy as the best way to quit - techniques and neuro-science having helped Hypnotherapy to make impressive progress since then.

  • my parents smoke and it annoys me, couse i smell like freaken siggarets 2 ! EW!!!!

  • Quite smoking! Put it down and wait till later. I quite 21 years ago.

  • Why cant tobacco companies get rid of most of the harmful chemicals in smoking? its been proven that the Nicotine doesnt actually HARM you, but it does addict you, so you buy more. So why not just keep that Nicotine, and get rid of everything else harmful?

search up E-cigarette, and you'll see what I'm talkin' about

  • ok.

    tobacco is not addictive.

    its the nicotine in cigarettes.

so the words tobacco and cigarettes should not be used interchangeably.

  • nicotine exists in the tobacco plant. it's part of the tobacco long before the plant is made into a cigarette

  • i'm on my second day of not smoking, irritable, hyper, anxious, and constantly stuffing my face with things while the craving doesn't go away.

But i know it will become less and less over time.

Last time i quit it took about 3 days before it got less..then about a week or two before i was really free of the desire to smoke.

I will probably start dreaming of smoking.

  • Advice for kids: Just be lazy and cigarettes will avoid you

  • maybe so , but those hungry "receptors" they spoke of in this vid are still there. Hell it took some years before I finally got to where i never thought about it anymore

  • Too bad there's no clinics in Massachusetts

  • I just quit...Ive been 2 days without smoking and I just don't need it...I think the key is not to slip NOT EVEN A SINGLE DRAG be total extreme because when you say...just one a day or two it is not quit...or you do it or you dont you will feel much proud of yourself

  • "People who smoke cigarettes, they say 'Man, you don't know how hard it is to quit smoking.' Yes, I do -- it's as hard as it is to start flossing."

    - Mitch Hedburg

    February 24, 1968 March 29, 2005

  • Mitch Hedburg was a comic genius.

  • i quit on the 2nd january the first couple of days are tough but by your second week you start not to think about it and it gets easier

  • Man its hard I dream about smoking.

  • XD I do too! And I wake up so mad at myself until I realize that it was a Dream!

  • My New Year's Resolution (well, one of them anyway) is to quit smoking. I've tried before and it's so damn hard because I'm a worrier and that's how I chill out. I get very irritable when I can't smoke. I'm really going to try because I really need to stop if I want to continue singing (and living for that matter).

  • My parents stopped smoking. Their REALLY cranky. They smoke off their stress.

  • Im trying to quit... I suffer withdrawal symptoms, but I still want to do it... Im a 10yrs smoker thou...

  • dont give up! think of loved ones. best of luck to you

  • tomorrow i stopped 3 weeks but it still sucks to not smoke ...
