Bottom line is that if PJ is really a fan-oriented band, they must know how many kids(like me) grew up loving Dave's drumming. I love the evolved band, in a way to me there are two great but different Pearl Jams - but for the 2oth anniversary, how about showing some love for me and all the others who loved the live sound they once had with Dave's funk/thrash; it was an important part of history and now would be a good time to invite him for a show, honour that history.

Matts a great drummer...But slow down a bit Dave Abruzzeze was really something, it's taken me 20 years to unlearn growing up to his drumming and use a hi-hat normally, lol.
You think Cameron is better with a set of toms than Dave? Listen to Blood/WMA at Fox theatre 94 and tell me again.
I've come to respec the need for Dave to Go but it destroyed me when I was 17, specially after it fucked the vitalogy tour bad.
i know im in the minority but i liked the reworked version with the guitar intro better live unless Jack is playing it. no offense to Matt, but Jack's drumming IS this song.
One of the best songs by any band ever! Great video, thanks for posting. This looks like a full show audience DVD. Is it out on Zomb or Dime? Direction would be much appreciated ;)
I've heard every performance of "In My Tree" they have ever played (it wasn't as difficult to do as it might seem), and this is a very good one. However, it is not "the best". Also, the best version actually has Matt Cameron on drums, which might seem kind crazy. Then again, everyone is entitled to their own opinions!
My post sounds a-hole-ish. Sorry. This IS a great performance. "The Best" in my opinion is, MSG 7/8/03. It might seem like an obvious pick, but it's all about the overall sound, energy, and Mike's solo at the end. Doesn't get better. Again, I don't mean to be an ass. To each their own, PJ rules.
It's not about doubting Matt Cameron.. Because he is a fucking amazing drummer. But since the 2000 tour he slowly started getting lazy.. I love Matt's playing and when he puts in the effort he plays like he does in this video.. :) Thanks for all the amazing uploads man!
Just not the same without Jack Irons...

Definitely a top 10 Pearl Jam song. I feel like I can really connect with some of the lyrics.

I've always loved the drum line in this song. But, oddly, it always reminded me of Donkey Kong Country.

Wow. This guys keep getting better and better.
Besides the killing drums (go Matt! The man rocks), what is truly amazing about this song are the lyrics. It's poetry at its purest.
Only an outstanding band like Pearl Jam can pull off a song like In my tree with such pasion and talent.

dont beat yourself up, it only sounds very slightly a-hole-ish :) I just wanted to know your opinion on the greatest "In My Tree."
thank, peace.

MSG was awesome but Boom kills it for me! The '09 version is much better and Matt nails it here. Again,as you said, just an opinion :)
brainofajw 2 years ago
That MSG one is the best. Its absolutely amazing. The Boom solo just makes it cooler!
Just an opinion of course
