  • AmItalkingtoofast?

    Naw, go ahead.

  • A terrific vid dude! You deserve a lifetime achievement award for these 5 gems!

And as for YOU, Mr. Cagney... can I be your sweetheart in the next life?

  • I like his dancing better than Astaire's!

  • These are AMAZING :D well done

  • This is wonderful, I loved all of them. I'm just sad it took me this long to find them. They were wonderfully done however. Could you tell me what the movie is at 1:10 with the baby? That seems interesting for obvious reasons. I haven't seen many James Cagney films, but the ones I have seen, not a single baby was involved. I appreciate it.

    Happy Thoughts, ~ R.C.

  • @darkmountains7

:] Of course, that would be the "Oklahoma Kid".

  • Who wouldn't want James Cagney thumping outside their window? ;)

  • @emo102492 someone who would just want him to come in already and stop wasting time ;)

  • His birthday is one day after my granny's:)

  • "Um hum" Lol

  • all I can say after watching all 5 of these is: "mm-hmm..."

can't imagine the amount of editing you must've had to do! they're brilliantly done though, made me grin like nothing else!

  • I got it - Cellar door Cagney! Right?

  • scottnownow said he knows why you ended with "i don't want to play in your yard' ;) , why is that ?

  • @cherchezverite

I'm not really sure. I just wanted to end with a little clip of Cagney singing. There was no...hidden meaning or anything, hehe.

  • the term "generousity of spirit " could have come about in reference to this mercurial little dynamo. the only sad thing is Cagney was wasted in mostly nondescript hokum.

  • thank you so much for doing this !

those are five awesome videos :-)

  • Another tremendous effort! You should be working in Hollywood with your level of editing ability, and I'm sincere in saying that.

We all know Cagney is the master, don't we! He was such a talented and lovable guy. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

  • A great mix of clips. I never realized how many of his films I have obviously never seen.

  • This was great. I just watched all 5 parts and its really amazing. Such talent, such a personality. Wonder what he'd have thought of seeing all these clips like this....?

  • AMAZIIIIIIIIIIIING!! I loved it! Cagney was sooo awesome, funny...and so attractive,he has a je ne sais quoi. i've liked him since the first moment I saw him, he was/is special :) and of course a GREAT actor!.

  • you are so awesome

  • Your Editing Genius!...a batttery of editors couldn't do better. I've all 5 of them now and they get better every i see them.

  • Thank you so much! :) Viewers can't always appreciate the hours of intricate editing that can go into one of these kinds of videos. Thanks for the compliment. =)

  • Hi, fellow Cagster! Nice touch to end with "I Don't Want to Play in Your Yard." I know why. =;) Very, very nice. Thank you for your work on these parts!

  • great mixture of great clips...nice editing....thanks...

  • cool:)

  • nice videos de 5

  • thx to watching these videos my son and i have a new great impression of cagney "waaaht" its short and funny

  • Your series of James Cagney videos have been enjoyable to watch, great work! Great array of scenes!

  • I'm a huge fan of Cagney. Just discovered those five gems you put together: Bravo, they're absolutely fabulous! As someone commented before, I know where to come if I feel a bit low: the energy, the grace, the punch, the delivery, the charm... thank you so much

  • What's the movie from 1:01-1:03?

  • "Frisco Kid"

  • aaaaaahahaha 0:37

  • ...it's me again...what's that movie at 4:08-4:27. it was funny

  • "Hard to Handle". :)

  • Young Cagney, is the spit of young Marquis De Sade, I wonder???

  • which film is that at 30seconds?

  • If you're referring to the clip where he's all, "..And as for YOU...!", that's from Mayor of Hell.

  • Sorry i meant the one before that

  • Oh, okay, that's G-Men.

  • Thanks for making/posting these Cagney clip's. Luv them. He sure was a talented guy alright, brilliant in fact. His no-BS style really appeals. He's a relative, great great something, distant. My surname is the same as his. My claim to fame and greatness. Not really, but it's easily remembered.(in older circles)Thanks again. NZ

  • what's the name of the movie where he talkes into the radio-tingy and says "no, i did not say lullabye" etc etc ?

  • That scene's from "Boy Meets Girl".

  • This video makes me so proud that I share a birthday (July 17th) with Jimmy Cagney.

  • The only thing that bothers me about these clips are that I can't get a hold of all the films they are from! Taxi is especially frustrating. No one has it and I'm dying to see it!

  • everytime I watch one of these it's mind-boggling. These are so incredible, how much time does it take you to put these together? You seem to have encyclopedic knowledge of Cagney films (a trait I certainly admire :))

  • Well thank you very very much. :) As I've gotten more and more into Cagney, I've of course been watching his movies more frequently, so I decided to WRITE down the parts that would be good for my videos (HAHA) So I could go back later and capture. And then from there it's just one big video editing nightmare. ;) A fun one, though!

  • well awesome job! When I'm down I'll watch one of those videos and it definitely cheers me up :)

  • Woah. We get yelled at for talking that fast in drama. XD

  • I'm not up to date with my Cagney Info, But How many films did he make?

How many more could there be?

These are a lot Of Fun Though, Great work MEl!

  • Hehe, well, according to imdb, he made 68, but personally I wouldn't count a couple of those because his appearance was so limited in them, haha. And some of those were AFTER he was a big enough star to deserve better. What were the studios thinking??

  • Well Back in those day's you were pretty much owned by the studio.

You sign a deal with say Wanner Brothers and you'd only be able to work with them and you pretty much could only do what they said and could only do the movies the TELL you to do.

That was some Classy BS Actors use to live by.

  • I know, and Cagney hated it. He was shelling out like between like 3, 4 and 5 (!!) movies a year. He hated the scripts and regarded the job as a type of "factory work". His earlier films may have not been anything of greatness to him, but they are definitely the favorites among the fans. Who watches a Cagney movies for the content anyway??? Haha

  • Ahhhh what a great way to start my day!
