  • This is back when Sesame Street was cool. Back when Elmo was just a random monster in the crowd, and us kids were more sophisticated.

  • I Didn't Know a Bus Stop could be so Dramatic....

  • There was another skit similar, not about the bus stop but just the word bus which has a black screen with kids saying the word "bus."

It also had very interesting music as well.

  • this used to scared the shit out of me when i was little

  • @Samoaqueen that is a RIOT!

  • @Samoaqueen Me too!

  • OMG, thank you for uploading this gem!!!!!

  • I ride the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) buses. There is one bus stop for the MBTA Buses in my area at Montello Commuter Rail train station.

  • @tpirman1982 But besides the 230 bus to Quincy Center MBTA Station at Montello Station, I also take bus 214/216 to Hough's Neck via Germantown in Quincy, 215 to Ashmont MBTA station, 39 Forest Hills Station in Jamaica Plain (Boston), 28 to Ruggles Station, or 32 to Wolcott Square in Hyde Park (Boston), etc. I'm proud to be a passenger for the MBTA buses.

  • Sounds like Carl Lumbly as the Martian Manhunter.

  • It's been awhile since I've ridden a city bus, but this music and animation certainly lends an air of mystery and intrigue to what would ordinarily be a dull ride. >;D

  • Still sounds like Brad Garrett to me

  • Very dramatic music!

  • im scared!

  • oh the memories!

    Thanks for posting.

  • Phenomenal. WHO did the music? It's fantastic!

  • Nowadays bus stops are to dangerous to hang out at..

  • Grim and Ominous. Was the bus stop in Eastern Europe? Were they trying to scare kids out of using buses? lol

  • Does anyone know the name of the composer or musicians group playing the music?

  • I was terrified of this as a kid-way too scary for Sesame Street!

  • ME TOO! Im not the only one ! yay

  • ominious voice!

  • I remember this clip quite well. The music was cool and freaky. Now that I've seen it again, I'll probably never look at another bus stop the same way again. LOL!

  • Awesome vid! The guy sounds like Brad Garrett. Thanks for posting!

  • heh nowadays symbol for bus stop is a bus picture =P

  • is the animation "H" clip with the creepy bass music here?

  • Creepy-cool...reminds me of 60's film opening credits (ala Charade). Totally dated and freakin awesome.

  • I like that kind of style. Music's so serious and mysterious.

  • Kinda' 007ish.

  • I loved this clip...and still do. the music is very retro and catchy!

  • Strange, isn't it? The people of SS sure did think differently in the 70s and 80s.

  • Wow! 007 music and Christopher Lee narration on a Sesame Street skit...

  • lmaooo

  • i reckon the longer you look at the word bus the weirder it looks....like its misspelt...or something?

  • The more you see it - and closer at that - to me, it starts to look more like the Tagalog (my homeland tongue) word for "BUS", which is spelled the same but pronounced "boos".

  • scarey!

  • I had never seen this and it is really scary. Ouch!

  • The voice sounds like Christopher Lee... deep, serious and with a similar accent. I'd like to know for sure since I'm a big one of his. Nice clip.

  • Excellent! I absolutely remember seeing this segment from the 70's. Brings back childhood memories of watching it on a Montgomery Ward's black and white TV!

  • Why no color TV?

  • See, way way back in the day as a child I didn't have a color TV in my bedroom. Those black and white TV's were commonplace in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. But yes I did have a color TV in the family living room that seldom worked properly. I recall it was this huge woodgrain "box" that had the old metal turn style knob tuners minus the remote. Yep that's from the old school.

  • That `60s-type spy music is ominous, as though warning you that a bus stop is not somewhere you want to be! Also, the voice-over (an African or West Indian guy?) sounds like he's still learning how to say "bus stop."

  • @blackolive666 That is the best comment ever! You nailed it.

  • The music sounds like a `60s spy film, ominous - as though warning you that a bus stop is not a place you want to be! Also, the voice-over sounds like a West Indian or African man saying "bus stop" as though he's still learning how to say it!

  • Alao what's that film prevous to the Bus Stop skit? Couldwe have that 1 up?

  • Bus Stop

    A Quinn Martin Production

  • Now that's funny.

  • Tonight's Episode: No Fare

  • My dad drove a bus when I was of SS age, though I guess maybe small-town kids might not have known about bus stops?

  • Meet me at the Bus Stop....

Down on the corner at the five & dime

Meet meeeee at the Bus Stop.....

We'll go and have a good time!

I remember that rip-ass Bus Stop song that came out around the early 80s. I loved that song.

  • Does anyone else recall a black motown type band doing a bus stop song on sesame street? how about the creepy wet paint or strangers vids? anyone have em?

  • I do recall The Four Tops doing a "Bus Stop Sign" song during the early 80's. I haven't seen that clip in forever but hopefully someone somewhere can locate and post that long lost classic! :)

  • I remember this as "Please be careful when you cross the street" and have been looking for it. Great song.

  • anyone know when this 1st aired? I don't recall seeing this 1 till the 80s but it looks like it goes back to SS's early years.

  • I haven't seen it for years but that was cool, too. And I like the animations of black & white.

  • I liked it. Kinda cool.

  • That's excellent. Everything for kids doesn't have to have soupy rainbow colours pasted all over it. This is just classy.

  • very dark and bizarre

  • rather avant garde for a kids show! but still cool nonetheless!

  • the music was good. Although I remember as a kid the guys voice over always creeped me out, LOL still does today.

  • can anyone confirm if this was created by Saul Bass?

  • I definitely remember this, and looking back I think I would have been scared of this, but I know I wasn't. Strange... Presently the music and white background make me think of "The Avengers" opening, with less brass.

  • I always found this one very weird, but I still loved it. Great music, too!
