Is this a mindf-ck or is there a electromagnet in the table and metal in the bottom of the mug? (it seemed that Derren was specifically adjusting the mug to the centre of the table above the pedestal in the middle, which could have disguised the electromagnet).

darren is very good at what he does b/c the people that he works with is trust. it is a vital point in all of hypnosis. this is a form of hypnosis that allows him to do whatever he thinks he can with someone
