I found this after reading the Sandler et al. article about the sign language this community uses. Her article focuses on the development of grammar in the language, but this film -- and the question of "normal" -- seems fascinating! Where can I find a copy of this movie?

Doctor said we aren't normal. He's bigot, ignorant, and asshole. He's murderer, if not, then he committed murder attempts, b/c, in few or some cases, CI patients were killed. In many cases, CI cause many patients painful and it's not working. Being Deaf is fine, so leave at that. He violated Hippocratic Oath. Hearing people imaged what it's like to be Deaf by closing their ears. It's not helpful. It takes time for neurons to develop special and unique abilities.

What it does is to give us a glimpse of this unique society and their day to day life coping with new technologies arriving in this secluded place. These people are my true friends. I saw this film last night at a showing at my school at Miami University! It was very good!! I love how you chose not to use a commentary and you let the people in the film speak for themselves! They way you portrayed the family going through the process of a cochlear implant, and the other deaf people who live day to day in El Sayed was very interesting! Keep up the good work!
