the only thing that i dont understand about windsurfing is how when the carve back up the wave they olmost let the sail touch the water.. how do they do it? is it the force of wind acting on the opposite side of the sail?

Well, you're right that it was a little out of context, but it sorta represented the lifestyle of any windsurfer. How they have to drive out to the wind and find the best waves. It makes sense to have it in there whether or not you care enough to try to understand it.

Windsurfing is a good example for a trendy sport that killed itself. Almost everybody thinks of giant jumps, loops and all kind of stuff stuntmen do at work. There are lakes, too ! Smooth windsurfing is easy to learn for anybody and fun to do

Thats because in my opinion Windsurfing only becomes good when you learn to plane and jump and freestyle front loops ...i would never go out windsurfing in under force 5 ... simply because .. its dull .. id' rather go pub ..

Not sure what force 5 means .. but yer I don't go out windsurfing in anything less than 18 knots. I prefer around 22-25 knots, so I can rig up a 5mtre, my fav sail.

yeah 5 metre sail 5.5 is the only sail i own .. lol as its all i'd ever need 18 knots and above is about right sailing on lakes thow is pritty dull no chop or big waves to bump and jump off
