I swear, the ppl in this string of comments are straight out of Idiocracy. Sure I've made some dumb ones, but WOW to these guys. Yes I see the strap broke and thats why I clicked lol
The shop I work at has never had a strap break. We use 10K pound straps and if something is going to be a lot of hp or tq we'll put four on the rear instead of two. Had a couple come close because someone put them to close to exhaust though. I've never understood why people do 1/4 mile simulations on a dyno anyway. Doesn't seem to really prove anything.
Wow, from one Mustang Dyno owner to another. You are NEVER to do 1/4 mile times with AWD cars. They specifically tell you this at training. Mustang has stories of breaking straps doing this, same with a few other fell Mustang AWD owners. It is too much grip all at once. The rollers do not allow the wheels to spin at all. 2WD should be the only drivetrain type used for 1/4mile testing according to Mustang. If you insist on doing an AWD car in 1/4mile mode then please do a soft start with the car
a 1/4 mile drag is when you launch and go at it as hard as you can flooring out all the gears. think before you comment all you people who say you cant or should launch on a dyno.
I love how half the people saying he's stupid probably don't know what their talking about at all. Go google different types of dynos and their abilities/uses and then comment.....
If you dumb shits had half even quarter of a brain the straps wouldn't of broke what the fuck are you thinking! You don't fucking launch on a god damn dyno! stupid cunts
hey mother fuckin ass wipe fuckhead faggot humping piece of shit why don't you read all the comments and make it seem like you have nothing better fucking do. Then go ahead and outside and play hide and go fuck yourself. mmkay dick shit.
Nice to see my video is causing such a problem. The video isnt to pit a real 1/4 run against a dyno, its to show a strap break. This dyno is equipt with the gear to do 1/4 runs, and people do it all the time. The funny part is how accurate the dyno 1/4 time is with my track 1/4 time....anyways. Keep fighting, it makes good ratings!
He's not an idiot for saying that. I have never heard of a '1/4 mile dyno run' and I'll bet most people have not, because no one does it.. There's no point anyway. No wind drag means that comparison is out of the window.
So I just have a question though. Lets say I put transplant a 2008 viper engine, transmission, and IRS onto a UPS delivery truck. Then I take a 2008 Viper and run them head to head on this 1/4 mile dyno simulation. I think it goes without saying that the UPS truck would lose horrendously, so how does the dyno account for the weight and horrible aerodynamics?
obviously both with the same numbers coming out of them the car will win its lighter. again carbon fiber and all. but if someone where to drop in a bigger engine pull mor hp there would be a good race there. they do it to semi's all the time.
it dosnt thats why people do the carbon fiber hoods and such every little thing that drops the weight makes it better for the car at the strip. on the dyno i dont think it makes a difference. honestly you can get the same hp if you redo all the gears and all that fun shit.
putting on carbon fiber hoods is almost a waste of time if your looking for weight loose....call jenny craig or strip your interior (sound deadners ect)...even undercoatings add alot of weight...those ridiculus spoilers on the back of ricers, wasted weight....most car hoods are made from aluminum now days...carbon fiber isnt much lighter
i know what carbon fiber is...do you know what aluminum is? its ALMOST as light, the 1/4 of a lb 1/2 at max isnt much of a time saving gain when your on the strip...its more for looks
i work with plastic and metals most of my life dude aluminum isnt much lighter than carbon fiber. there is only some aluminums that are about the same most are heavier. i garantee an aluminum rim will weigh more than a carbon hood. depending how big the hood is.
your calling me nuts for saying aluminum isnt much lighter then carbon fiber....so i compare an aluminum hood with a carbon fiber hood and you try compare a aluminum RIM with a damn hood....get real
i dont know the specific grade but my f150s original hood was literally a couple pounds...all aluminum, the steel hood i replaced it with was at least 3 times the weight of the aluminum hood (cowl induction)
im just basing that on aluminum ive purchased for welding projects and comparing it with what id pay buying steel...more expensive so why would it be any different for the auto industry? the lighter u can make a car the better fuel economy you will recieve, making an engine out of aluminum durastically drops the weight making the car much more efficient. meaning more cars will sell......not because its cheaper to use
yes its because its cheaper to use lol how do you think they make so much money off of us it is a gimick cheaper to build a car more money they make. they only say it costs more because of technology put into it which is a crock. they could leave things simple and be cheaper yet they still add this and that to charge more. heck they can build a car for about 6 g's yet they sell for 30. heck a premium stereo is an axtra 3 grand now. my system in my car costs about half and im loud as hell lol
kid lol im probably older than you are. i have done metals and plastics all my life. i know what they cost and i know what it costs them to build a car. look at them now all bankrupt what for i wanna know why there bankrupt when the owners/ceo's have access to billions of dollars why because there greedy they refuse to invest into something that was given to them thats why they fall. except ford even there ceo has stated they will dig into there own pockets to survive if need be.
and if you had any brains at all you would reread your comment and say to yourself - wow im a fuckin idiot why did i put such a dumb ass comment on some dumb ass video that has nothing to do with me. shut the fuck up punk ass bitch.
Are you serious? Aluminum is almost worth 3 times as much as steel. Last july aluminum was around 4000 a ton while steal was around 1000, this year both have dropped by 50% +/-. And the reason they use aluminum blocks is because aluminum dissipates heat alot better than steel/iron which in turn gives you better mpg. Dont care about your age or work experience, do some research before posting bullshit. Obviously you dont know anything about the economy either, cant spend money THEY dont have.
again dumb shit DEPENDS ON THE GRADE OF THE FUCKING METAL ALUMINUM OR STEAL stainless steal cold roll hot roll galvanized. they have plenty of fucking money the ceo's just refuse to fucking give it up unlike ford who there ceo said straight out we have plenty of fuckin money from profits that they will not borrow any fucking money we will be fine and we will come through it unlike chev and lame ass dodge they refuse to give up there money because of there fuckin greed you are a complete moron.
Your just making your self look like an ass you know this right? I wont fight with you anymore, your TOTALLY right.. I'm a complete moron and I have no idea what I'm talking about. I cant argue anymore with a 12 year old, you win...

Transmissions for rwd vehicles have a 1:1 ratio because in direct drive the input and output shafts are locked together without gear reduction. Not possible in a transaxle. Although they get so close that it really doesn't matter when it comes to dyno tuning.
you obviosuly dont know a lot about dynos then. This is a Mustang Dyno that has 1/4 runs built into it. It is designed for this....go do some research. The straps broke because of the power the car gave off. We just needed to add a few straps.
