not impossible. if you hit the bulb at the very top on a flat surface (nails head), you can do it pretty damn hard and it wont break. this is because the surface tension is being distributed all over the entire bulb and into the metal part and not that one specific place. same reason why the hoover dam is so strong. the pressure from the water gets distributed over the entire dam evenly and into the sides of the canyon itself.
