  • That's actually the larvae of a Hoverfly. Thier larvae are called rat tailed maggots. Hoverflies themselves only feed on plant matter (pollent an nectar) however their larvae feed on dead animal matter, and yes, sometimes, even feces

  • It's a larva of a diptera. Note the long tube on the posterior end of the animal, it uses that to get air from the water surface. This guy probably came from the water tanks, or sewage system.

  • I'm sure I posted a comment about having ID'd the little blighter a few weeks back but it hasn't shown up?!! Anyway, after much googling it turns out that it's a rat-tailed maggot, or Hover Fly Larvae. Scary little things aren't they!!
