  • Red shirt guy was and I'm sure is still an idiot , I'm not saying I could have done a better job ,but it seems to me he ( the red shirt guy ) had no patience , all animals have a certain personality ,dogs ,mules ect. patience is paramount ,who is stronger man or beast ? Yea ,just what I thought .Anyway hope it all turned out OK ,( keep the red shirt guy away from the team ) !

  • It looks like they should of had running W's on them, but then the ignorant public would have really been upset.

  • Mules, horses, donkeys and all do not think in terms of bum first, as the man pulling the mule's rear tried to lead the mule backwards and to the left, the mule gets confused, as most carriage horses and mules never have to back up. I wouldve untied them when they got anxious and backed them up with the reins better into their slots. I wouldve been confused too if someone was twisting my butt to get me to move back.

  • Gypsies are a waste....

  • Can't help but wonder how many of the comments on here were made by someone who has actually hitched a team before. Without a doubt, this hitching didn't go by the book, but that doesn't mean these people are incompetent rednecks who beat their animals. We train our teams to "step over" when pressure is applied. Outside of dropping the traces, I don't see why everyone is hating on the red shirt guy. People are too quick to jump to the negative. They've prob done this 1K times with no problem.

  • The red man should not be working with horses, well in this case, mules. Because he oviously doesn't know how to handle them properly! People like that piss the fuck out of me...

  • haha

  • Mules did sterling work in the Hell of the Western Front [1914-18] and they were strong and steady, and are honoured by a statue in London commemorating the sacrifice of animals in War..the mules were reckoned to be steadier than the horses under heavy fire, and they are a fine, strong animal in the right hands...the redshirt guy also kept dropping the traces against the mule's legs. doh.

  • yeah what a great idea lets all yell as the mule runs away lol man people these days hahaa

  • The best part is that the guy is screaming as if that is going to slow them down -.-

  • the only thing that would have made this better would be for the mule to kick the big red dude

  • You could wait for it, what a stupid way to handle mules or any kind of horses. No wonder they took off

  • Wow this all screams inattentive people. The mule that 'caused' the upset was out of position because of the way it was guided to the shaft, feet hit so he avoided by swinging out. Then to be dragged into position, how'd they think he was gonna react. After that he kept swinging away from the guy going to the back looking freaked out. Now whether or not you realise that means he's worried the guy's gonna do it again you should figure out he's too freaked for the job. Idiots

  • @GeordieTerrier Also I have to say the stupidest bit is when they disappear out of shot. Once the guy loses grip and falls over everyone goes to the side of the road and start shouting woah. WTH Seriously? One thing every horse book you'll ever read will teach you is that if its running freaked out you should not do things that freak them out more, including shouting. Yes they're mules but all equines react the same to that.

  • The guy in the red shirt is a moron. Mules dont' readily give to pressure...the press against it, unlike a horse! That mule did NOT trust that guy! He was the issue...not the mules!

  • HAHAHA

  • Idiots. I hope nobody was hurt, including the poor mules. Impatient people were not made to handle mules.

  • maybe you guys should be nice to the donkeys :(

  • loolololoolloololol those horse's think run fuck the people put them (people) for a cart

    yeaah xD

  • wow. Yeah anytime a horse turns and looks at what it is attached to you need to take it off right away. The look of "Why is that attached to me and why does it move towards me" is the warning sign that the horse is about to bolt. This was dangerous. Hope the poor mules were alright. Beautiful animals.

  • *AS SOON* As the mule started to act up, the man should have unhooked him and walked a lap. And if that didn't work, take him out of the parade completely

  • they really need to work with those mules more before trying to hook them up in public.!

  • why did that one mule have a big sore on his side??

  • despite all the comments about the incompetence of the men dealing with the mules (and I agree he was), the mules seem to be healthy and well cared for... they're also not usually fidgety things. poor them.

  • I WIsh the mule would have kicked that seriously incompetent man in the red.

  • who is the complete JACKASS in the red shirt.... what a piece of shit he is he obviously has no clue how to get larger animals to move over.

  • haha reminds me of Red Dead..

  • i love how he was constantly pullin its hindquaters like he was stronger than it. He was winding the poor thing up from the start. Might as well have just asked him to bolt.

  • Good grief. Every person who never worked a team has an opinion. These two clearly hadn't been exposed to much. They were nervous but okay, until the guy in the red shirt dropped the off side mules trace chain, not once but twice. The first time he jumped. The second time he got really rattled and it was all down hill from there. He clearly had never heard chain hit pavement before. He turned around to see where the sound was coming from, hit the neck yoke and that was it.

  • hope they didnt want that wagon back in one piece

  • The man thinks he is stronger then the mule Ha I don't think so, poor mules :( x

  • hahahaha......they didn't know how to handle the mules, made them uncomfortable and nervous and this is what happens. What did they expect??

Someone shouted 'Oh No Oh No' ! , when they should be shouting 'Oh Yes Oh Yes! Yes, this is the price we pay for our cruelty!'

  • The mule OBVIOUSLY hates his "job" and he was just being forced into it >.<

  • @MsElmerThudd I agree. that's way they need to open slaughter plants back up. The one in Nebraska looks to be opening soon.

  • @bm4nu To tell you the truth I don't really agree with slaughter plants...I think this Mule would enjoy a nice home where he would be ridden or something else.

  • Look at the right mules right front hoof and look closely! there is something bothering it... did they pick the mules hoof before they are doing this?

  • biedne konie !!! : ((

  • wow those men are idiots, specially the one in the red shirt. I wish that mule would've kicked him, he has no patience with them

  • the dipshit in the red shirt should not be around mules.

  • If you watch closely, in the very beginning when the nearside mule steps over the bar, he hits it with his foot. He was very anxious after doing this. I think this is where the problem began. Oh and the idiot in the red shirt certainly didn't help the situation.

  • Perfect Receipe for disaster.

  • This is why you harness them standing against something like a building or a sturdy fence until they are broke. Not only that, but the neck yoke should be able to easily slide off the tongue for this exact reason. So that a pair of runaway mules can't take your wagon with them. Saw this coming from the first few seconds. Amazing how many people own teams but have no idea how to properly handle or train them.

  • this is why you tie the front peice LAST! idiots!

  • Now that is horsemanschip at its WORST!!!

The poor thing clearly showed that he was scared but the keep pusing him to his limit, they should have stopped and wait for him to calm down and get use to it... Hope the mules were okay!!

  • the guy in the red shirt doesn't seems to know what he's doing!

  • No wonder this happens. What a couple of amateurs, geez. They were asking for it. First one mule almost hurts its legs and then they're trying to put them in front of the cart at the same time. One by one people, one by one. Not like this, no pulling. This is asking for problems.

  • if i was that mule i would kick

  • I think horsedesigns is so right. I imagine that if that mule was given the chance to sort it out he/she would have been fine. Only an idiot would have hitched a mule or a horse to a wagon when the critter was that spooked and upset. I would love to know if the mules were all right? Makes me sad that mules are still so misunderstood.

  • LOL mules are so cute

  • The lead mule got his feet tangled up in the evener, right from the start and the off mule was pulled around by the britchen and did not kick or react...these are obviously well-trained mules that were not having a good day for whatever reason....patience folks. It could have been a horse fly for God's sake. In my humble opinion, they should have not tried to continue to hitch them at that point. Should have started over.

  • These animals deserve a very hard and long whip punishment.

Next time use a sharp bit.

  • @xxceasar You really think so?

After that none of them would ever let any people handle them again...

  • Scary. Ugh. what an amazing way to get kicked!! :D (nottt) and omg I'd just be like, AHH screw it from the start.

  • poor animals, the people that are handeling them clearly dont know what there doing.

  • more patience needed. Especially with animals... if you make it seem like you have all day, they will only take 15 minutes. If you seem like you only have 15 minutes, they will take you all day. And these men were so tense. Nothing like an emotional animal to feed off of it and react.

  • this isn't funny at all!! These mules deserve much better!!!

  • Idiots.

I think people should need a license to handle livestock...if you are too incompetent pass the test then you shouldnt be allowed near them. What really sucks is these guys probably caught those mules and beat the hell out of them. Like its the mules fault....NOT>

  • Disaster from the start. Would have been better if they had a clue!

  • well, at least that little girl wasnt in the cart, that wouldve made for an even more crazy video!

  • Scary. Main thing I observed was how the helper (red shirt) kept pulling and pressing mule into position with no patience for the mule to give and relax. It's apparent the mule is soft as he does respond to the pressure, but the man just kept giving him something to lean on and you don't want to do that. Hope it turned out okay.

  • One other comment by me. People keep mentioning the kid in the cart (wagon). I don't see anyone in the wagon. I see a guy in a red and white cap standing on the other side of the wagon (looks like a kid in the wagon). If you look, you can see his legs and feet on the ground behind the left front wheel. When the wagon goes away down the street, you can see that no one is in it. That's why cops say that eye witness testimony is usually not very accurate.

  • Well, I'm not going to comment in a way that blames, or excuses how they did this. I'm sure they are experienced at what they are doing, and had a bad day. Horses and mules are thinking animals and sometimes don't agree with us. Go to a rental stable and watch the interaction between horses and riders if you don't believe that. I used to make my living driving a stagecoach and we alway hooked up our animals one at a time. Just our own techique, but it always worked.

  • What was this, a dress rehearsal for a Darwin Award? Anybody want to bet that the rednecks beat the crap out of the mules when they finally found them?

  • Wow these people are idiots... I don't handle hot horses as im still pretty amateur but I am not thick. They should have first of all taken the young child out of the cart until the mules were hooked up and safe, they should have calmed them down, and that guy in the red shirt should not have been behind them like that, there's other ways, I'm sure. AND at the end screaming HOAH HOAH!!!! is NOT going to help. These mules didn't do ANYTHING wrong, they were nervous, and these people pushed them.

  • i was just hoping the guy in the red-ish tee shirt to get kicked!

  • Did anyone notice the kid in the cart? Hope he was ok! :-o

  • They did nothing wrong in the sense that they weren't abusive and did a "by the books" approach, but the main problem here seems to be that none of these boys understands horses (or mules). This isn't something that "just happened". Anyone who knows horses wold have seen this coming but these boys are oblivious. The handlers caused this. They just hoped they could convince that 1600 lb mule that they were stronger than him LOL!

  • that kind of crap happens. the mule on the right side was a acting up. only thing they could have done was unhooked them completley sothey were not dealing with the wagon when the right mule decided to bolt. But as far as the handlers are concerned they weren't bullying the mules they were just trying to get the right mule hitched so he couldn't fan his ass end around like he did. Hind sight is always 20/20 but that right mule was not ready to be hitched. That mule was the trouble maker.

  • No, that is NOT the way to handle a team, or a single mule. The mule did not have an attitude, check his ears. He was listening, he just got nervous. The dipstick yahoos tried to bully him in to complying, and got what they deserved. Unfortunately, idiots like that likely took out their anger on the poor animal.

Handled calmly? Maybe, but stupidly for sure.

Take the time to show him there's nothing to be afraid of and he'll comply. Force just reinforces his fears.

  • whoever e1p12007 is, I couldnt agree with you more.

  • That offside mule was resistant to begin with, and a good one CANT hold a bad one. Did not like that mule's attitude from the start.

  • hey guys Am had a horse that did the same she runs away with the cart ^^ she did stop because the cart was stuck in to the corner of a house ! I just can say its not funny but things like that happen . And we did nothing wrong she was young and wild :P chill down

  • What a bunch of idiots

  • they really should have let the mule calm down first, preferbly by un-hooking it form the cart first and walking it around and not making it stand there and get even more worked up, these things can be prevented.

  • WOW..you guys are stupid...that's how you hitch a team. These guys did nothing wrong really, other than I might say they should have given that mule some time to chill out. The people aren't at any kind of fault..if you're gonna comment, then know what the hell you're talking about first.

  • tHREE STOOGES: BIGGEST JACKASS WAS IN THE PINK T-SHIRT. CHECK OUT WHEN HE TRIES TO MOVE THE DRAFT MULE'S BUTT OVER BY BRUTE FORCE.

  • hes pulling the harness, not the horse's tail so whats the problem have you ever harnessed a team of horses?

  • What a bunch of jack@sses! And I'm not referring to those two poor mules at the mercy of those 2-legged idgits. :-(

The gene pool needs more chlorine!

  • they handled them quietly and calmly, dont really see what your issue is
