It might have been commented here before but Leslie Nielsen actually had a small device that he kept hidden in the palm of his hand, when pressed it would make a farting sound. He took it with him everywhere and loved to freak people out with it. I actually knew a friend of Leslie who had one himself and showed it to me and many years ago Leslie showed it on TV but I can't remember what show it was.

Listen to what he says just prior to letting go in this video. He tells them you have pay attention to the humour. I wish I had a copy of an interview he did with CTV years ago, where he divulges the gag and still enbarrasses the interviewer. Classic.
