WOW, you have a lot of birds in the background there. Reminds me of our home when we had 6 birds. It would get pretty noisy in the afternoons. That U2 looks to be pretty young or else it's been abused. I haven't seen one so reserved and laying down like that except our Angel when he lays on my wife's or my chest and is cuddling or sleeping. I hope that Alex is alright. I've heard a lot of horror stories of them being abandoned or abused. It's a shame anyone would do that.
@themntornado I think we had over 20 large parrots in the shelter at that point. That number has gone down recently. We had/have several parrots that have been abused at the shelter. The last I heard (I moved to the Washington DC area a year ago and don't have the most up to date information on the birds in the shelter anymore), Alex is doing well with his new family.
@johngalt9999 That's so good to hear. I've been raising birds most of my life and parrots in particular for the last 35 years. Some people say that my wife and I have parrot fever because we love parrots so much. When we first got our Angel about 17 years ago, he was 6 months old and still weening. We were told then that he would be our most demanding bird. The guy wasn't kidding. Most people only see the cuteness and don't realize the amount of work it takes to raise a Cockatoo.

Sweet angel! Cockatoos love having their 'ears' rubbed and when you do it activates what I like to call...a yawn button.
That's why he's making that motion with his mouth, he wants more!!! So easy to love.
