Why does everyone seem to think that if the guy had been "hot" it would have made a difference? Oh, wait, I know. It's because that's what would have made the difference to a man's choice in that situation. I'm guessing she doesn't make a habit of fucking strangers at 4am after giving speeches about women not being respected in atheism -like most of us. The responses of men to the situation only solidifies her original point.

I'm baffled that people don't realize Dawkins response was satire. Maybe it's cos I'm British and we're more used to satire?

@KemaTheAtheist Yes. It's basically been like the whole thunderf00t debacle. Pointless and divisive, with the discussion itself only serving to worsen the problem, as people get heated and say things they might otherwise not.

When someone invites you TO THEIR ROOM at 4am and you've never met them, it can be construed as a proposition, she didn't say he DID, just that it made her uncomfortable, and it's not the best way to approach someone.

She didn't make a big deal out of it AT ALL, it was a passing comment!

Regarding Richard Dawkin's comment abt "the plight of islam being much worse than rebeccas case" id have to say i often have similar thghts when ic rational women fighting/arguing over such issues so i agree with him there too. I too see sunni/shia "islam" n "shariah" as much bigger probs than this or similar instances of supposed objectifications of women. AND amazingly 4 u all I MYSELF believe in the Quran for im amongst a small grp of Muslimeen known as Quran Alone Muslims(see wiki).
