I feel terrible that this happened. AS a reptile lover and owner, I know that caution when with large animals is a must. As for all of you saying reptiles aren't pets, I pity your narrow mindedness. Yes, large animals are dangerous,but snakes have killed and injured less people a year then dogs in North America. All pets can injure and kill you, just because reptiles aren't furry and cute doesn't mean they are more vicious or dangerous then your dogs.
Do you pity, pet mice, rats, rabbits, hamsters, various birds, fish, hedgehogs, indoor cats and many other captive bred animals that humans keep as our beloved pets?
How can someone want these as a "PET"...anyone who says they make great pets is talking absolute oblox,... they just want them so they can watch, as they kill and eat other animals.... that have no chance of escape....ultimately, morbid curiosity and sheer ignorance killed this woman.

Any snake over 6 feet long should never be handled (let alone injecting medication) alone. Any educated python owner knows this and this women's tragic death was cause by bad judgment, inexperience or negligence, not a human hungry animal.

Here in Finland is forbidden to feed live (vertebrate) animals to any kind of pets. So here in Finland snakes have learned to eat allready dead mouse, rabbits etc. So its not necessery to torture live animals, becouse snakes arent very fast killers.

I have several snakes, a couple of which will not take frozen and thawed food. Therefore I feed those live. The way they eat is so fascinating. Like BarbaroiAxe mentioned, there's nothing wrong with finding it interesting to watch. Although, I feed frozen/thawed whenever I can, as it is more practical and less work then keeping live mice,rats,rabbits, etc. But to the 2 of my snakes that only eat live, i feed live. Remember, it's completly natural. Its what happens in the wild:)
