I'm currently a third year at university and i'm doing a 3ds max animation. I decided on a car chase ending in a crash. how did you animate the crash for this and the race in your new animation? Are there any tutorials. I have also got fumefx.

Hey ghost. The chances of him responding is slim, at best.

However, I will answer the question: He probably used:

Constraint FFD box (so the model extrudes to the sides as much as it implodes)

a Morpher (obviously)

Multisub Morpher (Textures flinching off)

An action slider to control the textures compared to the "metal".

Also, I believe he cheats -alot- with AE/IV.

I pray to god you have Rayfire and vRay if you're going to animate a car crash.

Why a tutorial???? Why do you want to copy someone elses work? tutorials exist to get you started with the basics. Use your brian!!!!

First I don't want to copy somebody's work.

Second a tutorial is not a how did I made all this clip from 0 to 100%. Is what problems did he had and how did he fix it, And some approaches to this effect.

Third: If nobody will help each other then all people will think how to make this kind of effect. But when you telling somebody other can improve this effect and help you to improve it. So people can evolute (Don't know the right word).

but its sort of obvious how its done. CGmodels of the LADA? and other cars are used. The CGmodels are then integrated into actual video. In some of the shots such as at about 0:28 a completely separate video is "Pasted" onto the drivers window (he might not even be in a car let alone the car actually moving).

The only reason it works so well is the quality of the models and the compositing. The rest is all "Directing". at 1:20 the flying glass etc is on a separate layer.Atutorial is pointless

From his perspective he doesn't want to help the competition too much and from an employers perspective they want someone who can work out how to do stuff like this rather than someone who has to follow directions ie do stuff thats already been done.
