What's the deal with so many people these days wanting to see movies for free? If you really love this movie and think it is so "amazing!!" and "so funny", why not invest $1 or $2 to rent it? Better yet, you can now buy the DVD for $3 at H'wood Video. DVD players: $5 at yard sales or $30 at big box stores. If you really LOVE movies, isn;t it worth spending a little $? Sorry if I seem defensive: I work on films and some of them are made by indie filmmakers who struggle to break even.

The War of the Roses (1989) is what The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990) should have been - an unapologetically mean-spirited, no-holds-barred, blacker-than-black comedy with the balls to carry its nastiness to the end. Instead, Warner Bros. tried to make the Bonfire characters more likable (Tom Hanks as a cocky investment banker, anyone?), and ended up producing a horrendous flop.

I've always adored Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. Roses endures as a highlight of both their careers.
