@321yeyitoxx Yes; but you must understand the history of this kata. Kanryo Higanona ,Sensei Miyagi's Sensei taught the original - done with open hands. Uechi Ryu still teaches it this way. Miyagi closed the fists this is how he and Seiko Higa taught Sensei Akamine ; the founder of Ken Shin Kan. BTW Tensho can also be done with open hands. As you (should ) know , Sensei Akamine taught the Uechi Ryu version of Seisan as well
Thank you for this clip. The great thing about the internet is one can find new ways of doing old things. I have not seen this form of Sanchin kata before. What is it lineage? And what style of karate do you teach and train in? Thank you for your time. Osu
Well, I have only done the Movements and studied the Gurdjieff Work for fourty years in the Gurdjieff Foundation, so I suppose I might be able to see that what you are doing alone in your room are not the Gurdjieff Movements. One can even find videos of the real Movements right here on YouTube and see that what you are doing and lying about is some kind of bad imitation of martial arts. Maybe you are so lost that you believe your own lies now.
@pierremagne I never said I was doing the Gurdjieff movements. Gurdjieff neither owned the movements nor are 'his' movements the exclusive form of 4th way movements . Groups ,religions and cults often delude themselves in believing that their way is the only way....Gurdjieff is A way to enlightenment but NOT the only way.I clearly say that I am 'showing' movements that represent 'moving meditation' "like Gurdjieff's sacred dances"...you need to be less judgemental and pay better attention !
@JamesJTraitz You're so right about people who insist that theirs is the only way! I practise the Higashionna Goju Sanchin (this looks like the Uechi Ryu version?), and I find it better, from the point of view of deep breathing, to do it at about half this speed and with "dynamic tension". Do you do it slower sometimes? This is not in the least meant as a criticism of you, though.
good breathing, I've done this kata, my sensei made me do it much slower and with extreme tension, it would be a workout to complete, every single muscle flexed to the maximum at the end of the movement. Felt like breathing fire and it like the blood supply in the hands was being cut off. Concentration was tiring too. Thats the sanchin I learnt .... He was selective, took 2 yrs before he taught the real stuff, now I know why, because it ain't easy to do ...
Open hands is one of the ways to do this kata. sanchin is closed hands or fist, sanchin mitsu is what Mr.Taritz is doing, and there is also san chin sei. also done with open hands while bending at the wrist. the last two stands are a little wider. as you do each movement you inhale rasin your hips and exhale dropping them. this is a moving zen kata oldist kata in my system of shuri ryu.
With all do respect that was not Goju Sanchin. They practice with closed fist not spear hand...way to fast, poor concentration, and the breathing part wasn't even close. I'd be curious about the authenticity of you belt...
Miyagi closed the hands for this kata Uechi ryu is more unchanged from the Chinese original and it is done with open hands-don't be so rigid! The breathing is correct, you are ,of course wrong. Your judgemental attitude suggests that your karate is not very deep...pity
I don't know who you think you are fooling. lol. I could systematically pick apart that kata, however, I would have a tough time knowing where to begin. I don't have all day, but I do have enough time to tell others who are reading this that they should not EVER learn karate from you.
I am familiar with Gurdjieff, Ouspensky, Osho, etc...but I am more familiar with Karate (esp. Okinawa Goju-Ryu.) I would like to know who taught you Sanchin and Tensho and from what Ryu-Ha you received your Renshi grade. I hope this is not a problem, and I do not mean to pick nits. But I honestly think you know a lot more about historical philosophers than you know about Martial Arts. I do not mean to offend. I only seek the truth regarding what exactly is your expertise.
Ken Shin Kan. The katas I showed were un-rehearsed and were 1st 'takes' not done for teaching/showing technical kata-rather loosely done as 'movements'
oh god... this isn't kenshinkan kata Sanchin! this kata is realized with the fists!

Once again, I was not teaching kata when 'showing' a meditation movement...Kata training is more rigorous!
