A good way to get your oil level and avoid overflow is to put your turkey in the pot then cover it up to two inches above your bird. Remove the bird from the pot then mark the water level with a cold stick of butter. Pour off the water, then completely dry BOTH the bird and pot. Fill to the butter line with peanut oil, heat, cook, enjoy!
i watched a whole whack of videos...and YOU my southern accent friend..are the best video on youtube.. ;o) Thank you, for such an informative educating view on frying up turkeys... yee haw from Canada ;o)
HELLO DAVE don't know if we could do this in the UK because our BAD BOY turkeys are pumped full of water and steroids, that bad boy would just explode on contact with the oil. does the bad boy have to be defrosted first?? just one more thing do you use all the remaining peanut oil to make the gravy
Yeah they do like to wiegh them down with some water. Cook it outside and it will be good. I only use a turkey breast in this vid. I use the turkey drippings from the turkey I bake to make turkey gravy.
Gumby hi! I have a new cast iron pan but it's too fancy for the outdoors. Now I'm thinking about buying a Lodge for that like Dave's. But I'd need to set up my grill better. One things for sure, Dave sure makes you feel like cooking. I bought pork ribs tonight!
Daves ace, he cooks like a black person! lol. the way he seasons everythin so well & washes his food befor he cooks it! Im from england & people don't cook like that hear. their shit is tasteless. salt n pepper & thats it!
I like the way you presented that and also covered the safty aspects too. I also like how you brought somthing traditionally done outside inside. you truly are "the world's greatest chef"
Yes sure you can fry the turkey legs in a regular pot. As long as it doesnt splash to much? I always make a mess anyway? Be sure to use peanut oil so the turkey will get done! Thanks for watching!
It takes a while mostly the cooking and I can only cook one thing at a time while making a vid so it takes olonger to cook. The editing process takes about 1 to 2 hours. It would be faster if my computer were faster! Thanks!
thanks for all these great videos man. i'm living in japan now and this homestyle food is a huge hit with my friends around here, definitely different from what they're used to. thanks!
Hey, I just deleted your comment on the chili video? I was trying to reply and clicked remove. My answer to your question was, I just have the cheap bread maker that you can buy at walmart. Thanks

ADDENDUM: First remone your bird, then mark your line. If you do it with the bird in, it will be to much, sorry!!!

how much time takes to cook?
keniiito 2 years ago
I takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the breast. Check for 170 degrees and you will be ready to rock!
THanks,

I wonder. How long does it take you to made a cooking video? Looks like a very tough job to cook and have the camera there.
And I think I'm going to be making a Cholesterol sandwich soon, it looks super yummy. I lack an oven to cook other things. :(
