@ 888zzz if american folkstyle is so bad why do we do so well at so many events? All of our wrestler's start there and branch to freestyle or greco. especially now days with MMA the trends show that wrestlers, american in particular, rise to the top. i take pride in being an american folkstyle wrestler and i certainly enjoy watching all my buddies win. have a nice day.

@steckwrestling yes because so many international wrestlers compete in MMA.. you have a couple international american wrestlers and a couple college wrestlers.. Not many wrestlers fighting in mma from countries who are dominate in wrestling. Hes right folkstyle does put you at a disadvantage on the international stage because you aren't brought up from 5 wrestling greco or freestyle unless you do off-season tourns

U know guys what is the only impressive fact about american wrestlers in general? It is just their physical strentgh that i like about them. American style is folkstyle which puts them at a big disadvantage internationally.

folk style isnt bad it has alot of the same takedowns as freestyle. folkstyle has way more emphasis on pinning than freestyle.

not sure about that. pins are quicker in freestyle. I can see your point though. They only give you a few seconds to work on bottom in freestyle before they stand you up, so if you don't throw them to their back it's not likely you'll pin. I think the big difference between folkstyle and freestyle is the emphasis on control in folkstyle. It takes a lot more to secure a score in folkstyle than it does in freestyle. Just my opinion.
