  • Having bags of snack a bit everywhere is a great idea. I always have a bag of almonds in my coat's pocket, just in case.

  • Bananas make my stomach acid, so I have to avoid them. As a snack, I like mashrooms, radish or grapefruits.

  • Holla! Have you ever tried intellectus 424 diet (just google it)? Ive heard some unbelivable things about it and my father lost a lot of weight with it.

  • yeah she needs to maybe reverse her words...if shes a dietician she should be knowing what shes talking about already without hafting to read from a paper

  • Fruits and vegetables are essential for a healthy diet

  • Why does a dietician have to read cue cards. You either know hour stuff or not. How do people like this get to be chosen to be on expert village?

  • @kathryn120 she's passing along info..who cares if she's reading or boring....it's a boring topic lol but a very important one

just be quiet and take notes..

  • Thank you for the post. I will keep in mind the raisons. I will have to try the carriots&tomatoes.

  • shes so boaring.

  • I thought it was very helpful and interesting

  • riiggghtttt... i'll take a picture of that A that I just got on my exam for ya. i'll also include some peer reviewed studies you can look over. though you probably won't understand because you lack in the comprehensive ability to understand the homeostatic complexity of the human body.

  • your seriously retarded. it is physically impossible to avoid carbohydrates in your diet. your body would start eating itself, literally. the reason lipids build up in the arteries is because our bodies can't fully break them down and usually because our body doesn't get to the oxidation of fat because its first choice is glucose. seriously just stop writing bc you sound like an idiot.

  • @DaNitheG

Lipoproteins becoming oxidized by free radicals and smacking into the arterial wall starts the formation. Larger liproteins are much more difficult to oxidize and high levels of HDL recycle lipoproteins before they can become oxidized in circulation. It has nothing to do with amount of LDL but with size of LDL and what happens to it. And eating saturated fat is the best way to increase HDL, while eating carbohydrates is the biggest cause of VLDL production. Hence "the french paradox

  • @vooooom just stop typing before you make yourself look more like an idiot. before you go typing up some crap about saturated fats, look up the the difference between saturated and unsaturated fats. then go read about how making atp from protein causes muscle atrophy you nimrod. next you can go tell the anorexics who are dying from kidney and heart failure that what their doing is actually "healthy".

  • @DaNitheG1rL

I do know about all of the fats but seeing as you think that 1% milk is a good idea, I don't believe that you do.

Also creating glycogen and ketones from amino acids is perfectly healthy so long as one has the required protein to do it. I would appreciate a link to a study that shows this horrible horrible muscle atrophy from a diet lacking in carbohydrates. I doubt one exists though as the Inuit and Masai lived for centuries on less than 5% carbohydrates, perfectly healthily.

  • HAHAHAHAHA i just love vooooom's comments:)

  • after religion and politics i think what is considered healthy for you is one of the most argued topics

  • I'm a senior studying exercise science on a pre med track with a concentration in athletic performance. its people like you causing disordered eating in people with the shit your spewing. next you'll be telling people to avoid carbohydrates. causing syncope, migraines, atrophy, polyphagia...

  • Perhaps you should take some logic classes on the side. There are no fats save trans fat that are in and of themselves unhealthy. Amount, ratio and balance have everything to do with it.

I will not tell people to avoid carbohydrates because I understand the principles of moderation and balance. Too many carbohydrates, too much of certain kinds of fats, and processing and adulteration like those in cheese and peanut butter are what are unhealthy.

  • Also my apologies for my rudeness and hubris. I just tend to lose it when people perpetuate the lies fabricated by drug companies.

  • She's a REGISTERED DIETICIAN DUMB ASSES.... i think she knows what she is talking about....

  • her voice pisses me off

  • This is a stupid video. Pretending that pasteurized cheese and peanut butter are actually healthy.

  • peanut butter contains 13 g of protein per serving, and the fats are unsaturated which is good for you. cheese contains calcium which you need for bone calcification in order to prevent osteopenia and stress fractures while exercising. you also need calcium for a muscle contraction to occur. so yes both are very good for you.

  • Oh god what's with this stupid fallacy of composition that all intellectually impoverished fools seem to commit? You cite things that are (supposedly) "healthy" as your case for peanut butter and cheese but you completely ignore all of the negative aspects. By this logic, a big mac contains lots of protein, lots of nutrients, etc, therefore it is healthy. There is a lot more to it than picking out the bits you like the bits you don't.

Firstly, "unsaturated fat" is a category of fats that...

  • ...is comprised of different types of unsaturated fats. There is monounsaturated, , omega 3 fatty acid, omega 6 fatty acids, and omega 9. All of these fats are "healthy" in certain proportions to the others but become very unhealthy when the ratios are uneven. The average person consumes way too much omega 6 fatty acid and way too little omega 3. Peanut butter contains massive amounts of omega 6 and no omega 3.

Cheese is made from pasteurized milk and wreaks havoc on the digestive system.

  • You can get protein and calcium from other sources that aren't so terrible for you. Simply having nutrients does not make something a healthy choice if it also has properties that are very unhealthy.

  • I bet you also think that the milk you buy at the store is healthy. Give me a break. Educate thyself.

  • you need to educate yourself. and realize that it is saturated fats that cause plaque build up in the arteries. you need unsaturated fats to make hormones and steroids. and yes there are subclasses based on the number of hydrogen bonds in the fatty acid chain. and dairy is good to have because it comes fortified with vit D which you need to absorb calcium. Low fat dairy is not bad for your digestive tract, yogurt contains probiotic bacteria that regulates digestion. I'm not leaving out anything

  • Saturated fat has nothing to do with it. Please spare me your straw man fallacy. We're talking about omega 6 fatty acids and the massive amounts of it in peanuts. While it is true that it is needed by the body, in the amounts present in peanuts it is very unhealthy. Peanut butter is the worst because the omega 6 will actually become rancid.

  • Oh, by the way, Saturated fat does not cause heart disease. This is a common misconception borne of a flawed 1960s study and perpetuated by the ignorant and the mendacious. Do your research and stop perpetuation antiquated drivel. We have learned a lot in the last decade and the only people who still maintain that saturated fat is the least bit unhealthy are drug companies, vegan liars and the ignorant. Heart disease and plaque build up requires inflammation of the arteries and cholesterol to.

  • @vooooom read a science book. you can't have inflammation without a stimulant. LDL's stimulate the formation of plaque, the formation of the plaque causes inflammation, and due to an inflammatory response, neutrophils and macrophages flood the tissue. don't just read wikipedia when you don't know what the big words mean.

  • When OXIDIZED LDL comes into contact with the arterial wall it begins the formation. Saturated fat produces pattern a LDL which doesn't oxidize. Carbohydrates produce pattern b which oxidize like mad.

  • Because oxidzed.

And pasteurized dairy, even with added probiotics is terrible for you. There is no possible way to redeem dairy once it has been processed.

  • becomes oxidized*

  • calium isent needed out of cow milk it gets transformed by other metals in the body then still if you want to get calcium you can get it out of healtyer foods

  • @jea740 no it doesn't. if you have low calcium levels, the body starts breaking down bone to release calcium. hypocalcemia causes muscle spasms, and quite possibly heart arrythmias and also leads to osteopenia. and you absorb different amounts of calcium from each food, you absorb the most calcium from dairy products.

  • Expert village has to be hands down the worst source of information the net has to offer.

  • here I am eating a mini-pizza and eating potato-chips and watch a video about healthy snacks... :-P

  • @USAneedsaChange fat bastard :S:S i could never eat that eww

  • actually, I am too thin... (and it tastes good as well :-)

  • wow this is a very inspiring video!

  • If you're one of these people that grab a chocolate bar or a pack of chips, then this lady is focusing on you and there's nothing wrong with those snacks as long as you keep them to the right proportion. A tablespoon of peanut butter as a snack is fine, just don't eat the whole jar!have only a handful of nuts/dried fruits, not the whole packet!

Some people need to learn portion control.these are 'snacks' not your main meal, just to stop you grabbing that sugar rush because you're sooo hungry.

  • wtf are you talking about LOW FAT!!! omg this lady is nuts.... the majority of that stuff is high fat! .... your mom dropped you on your head.

  • I can't believe this woman is a dietitian. I really feel sorry for her patients.

  • Wasn't the whole celery thing debunked recently?

  • She puts me to sleep.

  • @chrishaughaboo I was just gonna say, she's SO insincere!

  • she basically just picked the worst "healthy snacks". lame.

  • hahah. True! She dried out the fruit, pushed the peanuts, microwaved cheese, chocolate, ranch dressing..

And the monotone voice as she just randomly put together these poor food choices. I don't know how I could keep a straight face if I had to run down those 'snack tips'.

  • what can i eat for breakfast?

  • I don't know why people consider raisins healthy. They have 30 grams of sugar for a 1 1/2 ounce box. Isn't that like three cans of coke?

  • if you get the sweetened kinds, there's more sugar. but if you get the unsweetened, there's only natural sugars, in grapes which are fruit. so they're all natural & healthy.

  • i really dislike dry fruits

espeially berries coz they taste kind of sourish

    && apricots

    Love fresh fruit

&& yeah maybe she shouldv chose yogurt && fruit or saink

coz penut butter isnt verry nice && im sure

    its not healthy either...

  • Yum Dried Fruits are Soo Yummy Have you tried Strawberry Dried fruit ? They are nice and not sour at all Me and my mum love them !

  • i have, but im seriously not into dried fruits lol

  • Peanut Butter has SO many calories for a small ammount... I wouldn't waste my calories on something I don't like much..

  • the fat in nuts are the "good" kind of fat..your body needs a certain amount of fat and calories per day.

tip: besides selleri, which she mentioned, its good to eat broccoli too because your stomach burns more calories digesting it than what the vegetable contains.

  • sooo is salary and penutbutter together is also low calories !!!!?

  • peanut butter is not low calories and generally not a good food as it is acidifying, not easily digested, too fatty, etc.

She ruined a good piece of celery with the peanut butter.

  • *Natural* peanut butter (or any other kind of nut butter, like tahini) is fine. Unfortunately most brands like Jiff and Skippy are loaded with sugar and are also made with hydrogenated oils.

  • well penut butter is kinda high calorie even orgnaanic peanut butter

  • sorry, like, one stick a cheese would be enough for a snack, but people eat more than that :l .. and i hate peanut butter. :l

  • why are Amercian's so obsessed with peanut butter?!!

  • she's obviously reading a cheat sheet.. kind of annoying

  • Yes pastacios are so fucking fun ..

  • her voice is anooooying and shes dull i think id have more fun takling to a wall

  • cheese digests very slowly and causes bloating, and you dont burn more "calories by chewing the celery than you recieve from the celery".by chewing you only burn the same amount of calories in a stick of sugarless gum.

dont beleive me? look in a nutrition book. i have 1

  • So is it OK 2 drink (V8 drinks) instead of eating raw vegetables, will it still be the same?

  • is cheese a healthy and low fat snack?!?

  • No.Its simply a block of flavoured fat. Low fat cottage cheese (possibly flavoured with some pineapple or tangy herbs) on rice cakes/oat cakes/ rivita etc is a healthy snack.

  • No. Cheese is probably the most unhealthy dairy product.. I would have preffered she recommended organic low fat yogurt and organic low-fat milk.

  • Or cottage cheese, which is incredibly rich in protein. But yes, cheddar/mozzarella are not the best dairy health-wise.

  • excellent video! I love these healthy diet tips videos!

  • Healthy snacks, healthy snacks. We love to eat our healthy snacks. Orange, bananas, celery too. We love to eat healthy snacks, don't you?

  • Thanks for sharing this information with all of us! My kids eat healthy snacks all the time and the best thing about it is they enjoy eating healthy foods especially if you make it look attractive and fun!

  • I never really thought about planning ahead when snacking in order to choose more healthy foods. This helps with different ideas that seem good for everyone.
