im so sad my baby girl died last night and i wasnt even home i went to new york to stay with my grandfather and parents called and she was dying. She was seven but my friend gave her to me when she was six. She was my best friend and i will never forget her... Im gonna miss u pearl.
I had a 13 month old budgie that got sick because my mom puts out incense for Christmas. He couldn't breathe very well and died on January 2nd (recently). My brother's budgie got so depressed and stressed out he died on the 4th, two days afterwards. The budgie that stressed strained itself to stay alive but gave out exhaling and closing it's eyes.
This is a beautiful video tribute/memorial to your gorgeous little Charly. Not only that, it is a wonderful testiment to your commitment and care, your keenness to learn about the little birds you keep, and how devoted you are to enhancing the lives of your birds. I wish more were like you!
You got him in 1996 and he didn't die until 2006? He did pretty well to live 10 years with you plus however many he did before you got him. I think he died more of old age than of illness. 7 years is usually considered pretty good for budgies. 10+ is very old.
thank you for your comment. You ar right, he lived 10 years with me. I think he was nearly 6 month as he came to me. He had still his "baby"-plumage, don't know the english word. He went through his first moult a short time after I got him. On Sept. 5. he is dead since 3 years.
i have a budgie who looks just like your charly :) i've had him now for more than ten years and i grew up with him. he got really sick this year and he's about to die :'(

Und selbst heute, fast 3 Jahre danach und obwohl ich ja 2 süsse neue Wellis habe, denke ich immer noch an den kleinen Charly. Das wird Dir dann sicher auch so gehen, aber es sind die schönen Tage, an die man sich erinnert. lg Antje

Thank you for eloquently stating the gregarious nature of budgies. Unfortunately, too many people still have difficulty understanding this fact and will brush off the knowledge with a "he'll get used to it" attitude.

It's OK to have one bird, if you give him enough attention. It seems you did.
