  • I used to have this guys instructional video called "Metal Method" when he used to be this 80's hair rocker-type

  • this was boring..

  • Hi Dave!

I was wondering i you can help me,I dont understand how to make the inversions if the chord starts from the A string (for example D7)

    thanks!!

  • Christ i never new Collin Farrel played bass!

  • You've uploaded many GREAT bass lessons...however, it would be great if you could invert the video, as it can be tricky flipping it in your head in real time (to correspond with the view of our own fretboard and fingers).

Oh, and maybe overlay tab showing each chord shape as you play them, as it's sometimes hard to see which frets you are using and which you are merely hovering over.

Many thanks from a novice bass player!

  • gotta study...

  • are those lighter gauge bass strings or am i crazy

  • nice sound and great materials for work.

  • These would be good if you actually turned the fucking bass on! Maybe an amplifier would help! I can't even hear the bass over your voice!

  • I returned to your lessons when I finally realized that after a yearly plying I still suck.

  • Well Explained. GOOD JOB! TY

  • fuck boy

  • eth fret, teth fret, eth fret... LOL!

  • awesome lesson. been looking for this one for a while.

  • not true, without good posture, and the right technique it would sound like crap

  • You know what's funny, A band without a bass player, they would die, We are more important then guitar players are to be honest.

  • Just by saying something so stupid you revealed that you know nothing about music at all.

  • bacause? I suppose u know plenty about spelling too...

And people play the instruments they do for a number of reasons. I play bass and guitar. Personally, I find bass more entertaining. Just because your prick is so small that you need the reassurance that you play an "important" instrument, doesn't mean everyone else shares your need for acceptance.

  • I kid no one. But what i do want to know, why are you on a bass training video if u hate bass?

  • all instruments are equally important, every TRUE musician knows this

  • i have to say im a wicked kazoo player.

  • byach

  • 5 string jazz??

  • theres only 4 strings?

  • Dude! Irish Funk player. AWESOME!

  • love your lessons man.

  • sausage fingers ^^ lol

  • his left hand scares me.

  • hi dave, congrats on a clear and steady bass lesson, i have some trouble as i learnt to play right hand 30 years ago, not touching a bas since then my wife bought me a new bass for xmas, left handed! because i am left handed, any suggestions for a left hooker?

  • Hello Dave, I wanted to say how much I apreciate what you did here, your explenations are very clear and it is basicly the best video lesson possible for "Walking Bass" technique, but i still have one question. all the examples given are in C major Key, and therefore chords 1, 2 and 5 are major chords, but what if the key was C minor ?

  • Would it work then as if we start on A in C major Key ?

  • uh i'm pretty sure that 2 isn't a major chord in any major key, the only difference is that in a minor key, the 1 is obviously minor, but the 2 is diminished and the 5 is still Major minor seventh unless otherwise specified

  • i think it would be the same, but staring from A, the chord would be A, C, E, G, and the first invertion, C, E, G, A...

  • is this the same/realted to modals?

  • jaja ya hasta me escondieron mi mensajito, cojanla suaave..

  • thank you Dave...very nice. Understanding the inversions are pretty straight forward...I'm having trouble incorporating them into bass lines, or at least understanding how to use them. As example would be "stepwise" movements in ballads. Can you please consider posting a lesson that describes "stepwise" and "skip?" Thanks very much.

  • I've learn from your videos more than any others.
