We test drove one in Nov. last year. i was very impressed when my dad went through a sharp uphill right at 45 mph with the engine screaming at arround 6000 rpm! the hedroom is the only reason we bought a VW instea of it
The Elantra does not get 40MPG highway. Check out that data on the website 'fuelly'. Consumer watchdog has sent a letter to president Obama and to the EPA stating that you car does worse that what the EPA tests reveal, and Chevy Cruze consistently does better than what it's EPA values are. Both the Elantra and Cruze are 33MPG combined).
The Cruze gets an average of 28% better mileage than the Elantra.
Stop lying please. My mother got an Elantra, always in Eco mode, can't get more than 25MPG
My husband has this car, from work and just yesterday the sunroof glass exploded while he was driving. I hope it will be covered since the car is not even a year old and it is clearly a defect. Anyone else had this problem?
@gregocr The "chinese" lamps are stylish. I was looking at both the Carrolla and Civic for their engine reputation. Biggest problems are the materials used which felt very, very cheap. Pieces were creaking & a lot of messy jobs on the inside. I liked how Hyundai used volcanic rock for columns inside and recycled bamboo and other materials for the seats and dashboard. That's why it feels way more expensive than it actually is and that's why I love it. You should test drive it for yourself :)
Picked up our Elite (Limited) in Light blue yesterday, first proper drive today, very impressed, smooth and quiet and has a big car feel. Going to love this car!!
@akie64 What is the road noise like on the highway? How about driving over bumps and holes? I'm looking into buying the same one as you but in dark blue :)
@MGSROCKS1 I have found the road noise very quiet on the motorway, on rural road you do get some tyre roar but nothing concerning. I think the 16 inch wheels would be quieter, we are running on the 17s. I sold our 07 8th Gen Civic for the Elantra. I feel the handling on the Civic was better due to the firmer suspension and multi link rear.
The Elantra feels like a much bigger car with a smooth ride, i can honestly say that despite a couple of minor gripes, the new Elantra is a fantastic car.
