@littleAZN248 yes i have 8000kv sidewinder on my rc18r and it is faster but being too much fast is not good when controlling , you want to be able to control your car in the right direction , so i would only go for 4800kv and it will give you longer run time to
'cept your brushless weighs about a third of that. Less weight means better handling and a higher top end. Brushless is better. Now maybe if I saw a Mamba Max 6900kv system jammed into one of those with a 3s LiPo I'd be impressed.
hey mate im having some trouble with my 18t. every time i acclerate it goes flat out and out of control. it was running perfect. now all of a sudden this is happening. i even put new batteries in my radio and fully charged my lipo and it still happens. any ideas on what iy could be? cheers
I've been trying and trying to replicate that design you have, sometimes losing sleep on the deal, and I am still stuck on the actual mounting of the motor plate to the 18t chassis. I have reviewed all your site pics, but all I can come up with is that you mounted in in front of the bearing/driveshaft mount. Any help or tips you have for a fellow 18t lover would be of great appreciation. btw Very awesome job!
that's exactly where it's mounted. In fact, it's screwed on just the one side with a 4-40 screw into the bearing support/drive shaft mount. It is far less glamorous that you might think. There's some flex in it, but I haven't stripped a spur gear yet, just the diff gears. If you shoot me an email (check my site), I might could send you some more pics.
thank you soooo much that helped extremely but if you could send me some pics that would be awesome to I'll e-mail you then thanks again btw my friend now (as of today) has a front mounted motor, center diff rc18t, I'll try to send you some pics!
How come when i take my rc18t with metal gears and a hitec servo into dirt all the dust messes everything up, and how come that doesnt happen with your.
lol, no it's not. I've got a 10T Trinity D6 540 motor in in now with a 3S-11.1V li-po, and it's twice as fast. But the video is unaltered. The conversion process in YouTube tends to drop frames which makes it look sped up, but it's not.
fantastic alternative to going brushless and at a fraction of the cost. gr8 work

Dude balance your wheels
they are swinging back and forth like crazy
If you properly balance them you will go faster and handle better

less weight dose not mean higher top end, just faster acceleration....

is your motor brushless and is a brushless motor faster and what do u mean by 2s lipo is that two batteris put together or a type of batt.
hal279 3 years ago
it has 2 cells, so that is 7.4v
as a NIMH batt that is equal to a 6 cell NIMH

It does happen with mine. One run in the dirt and all the gears are messed up. I just replaced them often. Or just drive in the street mostly.

I had the parts lying around from other RC cars. But not much more than a new ESC and 540 motor.
aktiondan 4 years ago
It's a 27-turn stock motor. Gearing is 30T pinion and 60T spur, if I remember correctly.
