  • 'I LOVE' 'You Adam' 'Your Darling' and 'Queen'. XXX

  • I burst out crying when I hear this song. Counting Crows are by far my favourite band. EB you wasted 3 years of my life. It took this song to wake me up. It feels as if Adam is singing this to me. :) thank you CC

  • @PrincessSearrah I swear to God, it was when i was listening to this song one day that I knew I had to end a 12 year relationship and i feel the same way about this song and band!

  • @PrincessSearrah Did you just have a bowl of alphabet soup or smthg?

  • August & Everything After is one of the finest American albums of the nineties and the band sounds like a convincing cross between R.E.M. and Van Morrison.

  • I hate how this is like a buried song in the youtube options. When I think this is their best.

  • there is more than a bird nesting inside of me...

  • A group of crows is called a murder! I get the title now!

  • @youngblunts I have been a fan of these guys since 1996, and it took me like 10 years to get that!

  • I love the Counting Crows so hard and play the fuck out of this song! And early tonight I got "All you life is such a shame/All your love is just a dream" tattooed on me. Hells yeah!

  • this album is my favorite of all time...i am feathered by the moonlight falling down on me!!!!! The songs on this album make me cry and dance , and thats why i love them :}

  • Hands down my favourite song. First heard it a couple years on scrubs and its never let go.

  • @bullgraham23 Actually Warren Millers Endless Winter brought me here....

  • @bullgraham23 It's about penguins.

  • @looder22 PENGUINS are very rock n roll!!!!!!

  • In a lifetime of song writing, this song could be one that makes the writer feel worthy. It made me aware of my lover's interest, and pointed out hope, but it still breaks my heart each time I hear it. You don't want to waste your life....

  • hell yes i was just ab whipper-snapper until my father introduced me to August and Everything After...he first heard A Murder of One on the radio and bought the CD..classic...classic...classic

  • eight for your lover's bed

  • Someone is tripping the computer so that I am forced to listen to this song in increments . . . they really know how to bum me out well, and, I guess, enjoy the place. Well, I'll let them have their hour and keep on keeping on.

  • che pezzo fantastico...

  • scrubs brought me here. this song is so amazing!

  • its funnu how things work out....

  • Soul-FULL.

  • umas das melhores bandas que eu ja ouvi...originais e muito intensos, muita personalidade e sensibilidade no jeito de cantar...perfeito!!!!!

  • crazy... i listened to this cd so many times back in the day... all this time later i can still sing along to the whole thing... still my fave album of theirs

  • yeah eh me too

  • FYI a murder is a group of crows, it's analogous to a pride of lions or a pod of whales.

  • 6 people dnt count crows

  • This is the conclusion of one of the best-written albums of all time, top to bottom. I have yet to hear anyone pour their entire heart, body, and soul into their music like Adam did on this album.

  • @TheAmazingAnarchist1 couldn't put it better than that. well said.

  • I think that Adam is a musical genius. I bet his IQ is off the charts.

  • Fabulous song! Does he tell you when you're sorry does he tell you when your wrong...

  • this song makes me need a poo

  • Respond to this video...

  • this is an absolute masterpiece.

  • @redroxy2010 completely agree with you mate

  • been here, done this, both sides, & up & down.

  • This CD takes me back to a very happy time spent with the keeper of my heart

  • In my opinion, one of the best albums of all time. Only a handful of albums can you start on track one and listen to the entire thing straight through and not skip tracks. Adam Duritz is an amazingly talented songwriter and they are even better live than they are on their CDs. One of the very few musical performers who never "sold out" to become more mainstream, they have stayed true to themselves and to the music they want to make.

  • @irishpride630 I realize this comment is almost a year old, but I felt compelled to reply. Don't pussy out by saying "In my opinion...," make a statement. August and Everything After is one of the greatest albums of all time. Anyone who doesn't feel something (whether love or hate, joy or rage, whatever), after hearing it, simply does not have a soul. That is a gorram fact.

  • @RomanCaine Bonus points for cursing right proper.

  • @mtlombardi If a thing's worth doing, its worth doing right.

  • used to listern to this album while withdrawing from speed

  • This whole album just makes me remember the old days , when there was nothin stopin you from skippin school because its to nice a day to be indoors!!

  • This album very gets old Wow after 19 years I still love every bit of it ;O) Thanks for sharing

  • @M1STYWORLD it isnt that old is it i was older than 15 when it was released but it may of been released in the uk after it was in the us

  • One of my all time favorite songs...makes me feel like I am 15 again when I listen to it.

  • One of my all time favorite songs...makes me feel like I am 15 again when I listen to it.

  • fantastic song. pretty much sums things up for me at the mo

  • This cd is one of my favorite of all time. I love Pearl jam all the way to metal, this album took me someplace different though. Still love it, one of the few that you can listen to the cd from start to end and like every song. That don't happen anymore.

  • We were perfect when we started. I've been wondering where we've gone....

  • i am such a stupid fag

  • blue morning, blue morning

  • I listen to their songs in really hard times and at the happiest times. I lost my daughter about 7 months ago. I listened to this song over and over again and it helped me get through it.

  • THE BEST SONG OF.....

  • To me, the vast majority of platinum albums from the 90s have not aged well at all. This one is a exception to the rule. What an amazing debut. And this song is the payoff. Maybe the saddest-sounding major key song ever.

  • Coolest part is where he says 'as you stood there counting crows'

  • This song became an instant classic, @ Universal to all feelings!

  • in my top 3,I've bought it twice and lost both to 2 ex girlfriends,my wife bought me my 3rd 9 years ago when we started dating great

  • I remember listening to this album (only this album) in my teenage years. I was 12 when I first heard of the Counting Crows..1994 i think... Now 17 years later its still on my top 10 albums of all time.

  • I used to play this song over and over when i ws falling for a girl who was with someone else she wasnt happy with... never thought she would end up being with me now and we have an amazing beautiful family! :)

  • @TheAlexio87 cool story bro :)

  • she sounds like a whore to me...

  • @TheAlexio87 Me too except for the happy ending -_-

  • @TheAlexio87 That is so sweet.....I hope that happens to me........I'm the 'girl' in luv with the 'guy' who won't luv me back for yrs. now....

  • @TheAlexio87 I feel glad things came over like that for you... It's by no means the way things roll for the vast majority of us, so, lucky you. I'll stay here, assuming I was not worth it, and most likely I'm not. Yet, I'm not envious, sure enough you deserve it!!!!!!

  • A perfect way to end a wonderful album

  • This album and the Cranberries- Everybody Else... album played the songs of young love and broken hearts for me, and always refresh memories from a better time.

  • This Cd got me through some of the hardest times in my life. Broken hearts, depression, some of my lowest points. Time and Time Again became a themesong of my life for years. Life is wonderful now, but the memories still live on, the this CD has a permanent place in my rotation. I have 5 MP3 players full of music to listen to in the car, and not one omits a song from this album.

  • @jYlY5457 This CD did the same thing for me. Depression, awkward early college years and a love I knew I'd never have. Still one of my all time favorite CD's.

  • @jYlY5457 Wait...you have 5 MP3 players? O.o

  • @Gunnerkelly At the time I posted it, yes. One of the iPods was stolen, and I have converged all of the music onto my phone. Got to be too much to keep track of. I still have the players, mid you... just don't really use them anymore.

  • @jYlY5457 i think u just summed up everyone that grew up in our/my generation

  • You can look outside your window, he doesn't have to know. We can talk awhile baby, we can take it nice and slow.

  • takes me back, sooooo far back

  • Change Change Chaaange

  • This song was on Scrubs! I very like this sitcom, this song and that combination is just perfect! cheers ;)

  • how i love this song:)

  • This is my favorite ...

  • I didn't like the counting crows at first because of how the media jammed Mr. Jones down our throats every time you turned on the radio but this is a great album with some lost gems that were much better than Mr. Jones, like this one. I miss the early/mid 90's, last great era of rock and roll.

  • @rodneyracoon I just wrote that the 90s' were the last great decade of music on the Rain King Video[well it really is not a video just like this its just a picture of the August album] But anyway well said and unfortunatly true.In the 90s I was always discovering great new bands today we have Justin Beiber American idol Lady Ga ga and rap.

  • Change

  • probably my favorite album of all time..every song is awsome..

  • ive never heard any fans speak like this in my life u's r mad ps ry dog dnt worry mate time heals all

  • this album makes happy and sad at the same time... personal reflection is a tough pill to swallow.

  • @Lendo1987 absolutely

  • "I walk along these hillsides, in the summer 'neath the sunshine, I am feathered by the moonlight...fallin' down on me." One of the most beautiful parts to any song.

  • @auburnfan313 their lyrics are truly some of the best...BRILLIANT!

  • First heard the crows on "Scrubs". Bless them both.

  • I wish i had this guys singing voice. Just imagine how amazing it would be to be able to play this great song amazingly live. My life would be complete.

  • I fricken love Counting Crows!

  • First CD I ever owned. I was six. I still had enough sense to know this band kicks ass.

  • 1 for great song 2 for great song and so on and so on perfectness.........

  • I did covers of Accidentally In Love and Holiday In Spain on my guitar. Check it out.

  • This song has it all...as does the album. I remember when it came out, just wearing out the CD from palying it so much, and thinking...who the hell are these guys? And how is Adam Duritz such a great songwriter? Pure poetry.

  • holy shit. im melting face on acid right now, and these lyrics are fucking intense dude. wow.

  • he uses the full name in this one

  • Figured out the title of this song. A murder is the term for a group of crows, like a pride of lions or a flock of seagulls. Except, if you ever see what you think is a group of crows - a 'murder' - they're almost certainly not crows, they're rooks - crows are solitary birds. So a murder of crows is only ever likely to be just the one. Counting crows... a murder of one! :)

  • @markpde true, never really thought about it, but that's mad clever

  • i first heard this song on scrubs :')

  • I had this on cassette in like 97' =) loved this side a & b alone !

  • Best album of the 90's period.Hell of an accomplishment when you consider the competition: Nevermind,Siamese Dream,Ten,Dirt. The list go's on and on.Oh, and thanx ceeceerider, Always wondered about the origins of that verse.

  • @veritasrex66 The Colour and the Shape as well as Ænema are far better in my opinion, but still an excellent album.

  • "One for sorrow, two for joy; three for a girl, and four for a boy. Five for silver, six for gold, and seven for a secret that's never been told."

In English, Welsh and Celtic lore birds are a symbol of power, luck and happiness. They are considered to be an omen. The lyrics are from and Old English folk rhyme, and refer to the sighting of magpies (crows), as an omen. Just a useless piece of trivia about one of my all time favorite songs.

  • This song caresses the wine that flows through my ballsack... it makes me wanna dance... the memories, the 90's. Toodle-pip

  • @DDT777 So many love this song as I do. They feel the power of the song but don't understand the parable of the lyrics.

    The Numerology is interesting,

Murder of One, track 11, The number of destruction and judgment, the number of the death of man. Further, 1 = unity, 1+1 unity with God, which is offered to man with the covenant of Jesus Christs blood, The Murder of One

    MUCHLOVE

  • You know, i'm a 90's kid who grew up with chris isaac but somehow changed to All That Remains, etc, and heavier stuff. Yet i still find every single one of these guys songs motivating and heartfelt

  • I think he's being for cereal

  • In all cerealness one of the most motivating songs ever written.

  • are you stupid or something? "cerealness"? are you "cerials"/serious?

  • @wojtek0000

    He's being super cereal!

  • If you think about it, the title of this song goes really well with the name of the band. The band is Counting CROWS (duh) and the song in a MURDER of One. A murder of crows is the name for a flock of crows and saying a murder of one could be saying a group of one. Just tossing that tidbit out there. Awesome song. I would also recommend the artists the Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, Sting/Police, and Matchbox Twenty. By the Counting Crows I recomend Rain King and Mrs. Potter's Lullaby. -K

  • why is there four thumbs down on this comment? this album is probably the soundtrack of my life. im still to find a more complete album and for it to be a debut is just astonishing. every song on this album is top draw. theres a few that have come close but i always come back to this one.

  • q buenos tiempos!!!! menudo discazo se marcaron !!!!

  • A good penultimate song for an amazing album.

  • Demasiados buenos recuerdos!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • as seen on scrubs

  • such an amazing episode... they cut a lot out from the tv version i watched. try to find the full version online somewhere

  • lucky enough to have seen them 4 times live fantastic
