@ABUSAEDI I have read it... and the Bible from which it was plagiarized.
If you like the idea of upgrading from your bronze aged world view to a more modern one that is based in fact and not superstition, then I also recommend you also read "The Greatest Show On Earth" by R. Dawkins along with "god is Not Great" by C. Hitchens. After reading, if you are reasonable & intellectually honest, you will clearly see & accept that the fundamental premise of the "Quran" is demonstrably false.
@ABUSAEDI i'm an athiest but i'm inclined to side with you.The Quran is certainly not a plagiarised version of the Bible, it may feature similar ideas but they both had the same origins in Judaic Torah. Both are intricately written and many copies are of exquisite artistic beauty. Although I don't agree with its message, I would never want it destroyed more than any book. The burning of books is for Nazis. Theological writings are a treasure, its the people who misread them that are the curse.
@ABUSAEDI I'm pretty sure he has read the 'Quran'. You know, me and a few friends have a game - Read the Quran on any random page and the first one to find a hateful verse wins. As you can imagine, it's a very short game.
@ABUSAEDI So what you're telling me to do is read it again but ignore the countless hateful verses in it? Being a person of some moral value, i'm affraid i can't do that. I have read it of my own accord and found it to be nothing but hateful towards women, children and anyone who does not believe every word of it's content. That is why we came up with the game in the first place. The Quran is a joke, and a crude plagiarism of the Christian bible (which is also a joke).
Religion deservedly comes in for more criticism in its failures than science does in its, because religion claims for itself the ability to know what's true, whereas science claims for itself only the ability to quantify the probability of a thing to be be wrong. A genuine truth arrogantly asserted - that is, without so much as a guess at the likelihood of its being false - is a most pernicious kind of falsehood, far worse than a mere mistake, because it alienates people from it.
I love that he is just being authentic. He does not feel the need to play games and go stealth. Plus truly religious people (not the fence sitters) are not swayed by any approach.

Richard Dawkins needs to become a Christian and write about how it is indeed the one true faith, but I'm afraid he is beyond redemption, and after he dies; HE WILL BURN IN THE FLAMES OF HELL.
@givemearandomnamenow I hope that what you said is some kind of twisted humour. No one believes in the biblical garbage anymore these days I would hope. I gave it up for pure foolishness by the time I was 11 or 12 years old. Talking snakes and people turning to salt are obviously children's tales same as Santa, the Easter bunny and the Tooth Fairy.
@givemearandomnamenow I thought It was up to God only to judge the lives of man and for all his worshippers to practice forgiveness. Who are you to decide another man's redemption? I read this thinking it cannot be for real.
Aliens: So let me understand this clearly. You have special access based on your location in the galaxy to see the cosmos, and you have collected and analysed data indicating the process of biological diversity. AND - your science has found previously undetected particles, some of which are changing your understanding of physics...but you still believe in a God?
Humans: Yes.
Aliens: Well I guess you see why we need to annihilate you..
I've read several comments from theworldbehindme on dozens of videos and they increasingly become more insane and nonsensical. Great source of entertainment. I read them aloud to my fiancée, brother, sister and friends. We all have quite a good laugh everytime.
Sir, There is no evidence for Evolution and big bang theory. You like it or not, Atheism is also kind of religion based on theory and ideology of Charles Darwin. Your LORD is Darwin just like Muhammad is for Islam and Jesus is for Christianity. All based on FAITH. Science have nothing to do with Darwin theory and evolution. Atheism try to hide their BLIND FAITH behind Science. There is no evidence that our ancestors are apes or monkey. You believe blindly because your LORD Darwin said so. THINK.
@Theworldbehindme I am flabbergasted with your post. I honestly can't tell if you are a troll looking for attention or you really believe what you posted. Regardless, people like you (or who you wish to impersonate) always amaze me how opinionated they appear and how shamelessly brandish their ignorance. I am deeply sorry for your anti-intellectualism. Please, travel the world, read about human history, get to know other cultures and religions...you will be surprised how similar we all are.
@Theworldbehindme Darwin is not the lord of atheists. An atheist is a person that does not believe in dieties. Yes, neither atheists nor theists can prove anything. But the difference between the two is that atheists try to find scientific explanations and theories based on reason and deduction regarding the origin of the universe and our species. Theists try to explain all these things with fairytales with no rational basis. You should take your own advice and think yourself.
I think people get offended when others challenge religion because they have so much time and effort invested in their beliefs that when someone like Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris begins to prove them wrong, they feel embarrassed at the thought that they believe the garbage they do.
Although these two act like life was never intended, and it's inconsequential, and there's nothing wrong with killing oneself, one can rest assured that they will both cling to it until requiring people to care for them long after they had the ability to check out on their timing and terms.
Aliens: So let me understand this clearly. You have special access based on your location in the galaxy to see the cosmos, and you have collected and analysed data indicating the process of biological diversity. Aliens: Well I guess you see why we won't share our technology with you.
@secondthes Well, it's not an issue of reading the whole book. The only flaw I can think of is the Fallacy of Composition, asserting that what is true of a part is necessarily true of a whole. But I think such a fallacy is negated in his comment as we don't need to read everything to identify just one bad moral instruction. For example, I don't need to read everything to know that slavery is endorsed, neither does it change the fact that slavery is horribly distorted morally. :)
I'm an ex-muslim, I used to watch this man's arguments with a closed mind and a disgusted attitude, it would explain why non of what he says gets through that thick skull of a religious man. When I watch him now, I realize that everything he says makes absolute sense.
@Xshado2 Out of curiosity, what made you change your mind? Ex-christian here, but growing up I'd never heard of atheism, much less promoting it. I pretty much came to unbelief without outside influence through natural curiosity. Having an oddball love of both science and mythology helped, as I realized christianity was just as wrong and silly as other myths. Hearing religious defend their faith just sort of sealed the deal for me, eg one said we cant "see" oxygen (though we can sure test for it)
@Velox415 The fact that 'God' would create us and put us straight to earth for an ultimate test that decides heaven from hell is the main reason I left. Why create people that disgust the opposite sex and send them to hell for it, does he enjoy torturing us? I thought he loved us... I am not gay, but this is one of the many things that didn't click for me. What if my parents never had sex and I wasn't born? Isn't that better? Does he encourage people to procreate so he can send them to 'Hell'?
@Velox415 And what about those Athiests and Christians that do so much good for the world? What about Einstein, Fritz Haber, Steven Hawkings, mother Teresa, and so many others, is he going to send them straight to hell because they just could not believe? Is he going to send Hindu's to hell because they were born into Hinduism? If he is all understanding, then he would understand that people don't chose what they truly believe, is that really their fault? If a human understands that this unfair
@Velox415 And what about stem cell research and abortion, if in his case a person would go straight to heaven if its still a baby, isn't the mother just being utilitarian? Is is right to encourage the suffering of fully developed individuals to save a couple of undeveloped cells that could potentially be born, and even then probably go to hell? Its all such bullshit, I am Agnostic, I think that there probably isn't, but if there is a God, he won't put people in Hell.
"Check out my videos "Religion is Ridiculous" (specifically christianity)...good stuff...rate it! Christians i CHALLENGE you to watchit with an open mind.....Anti-theists watch my vids and give them a thumbs up! Help spread the truth!"
I am agressively atheist and I try to talk sense into anyone who imposes religion on me on my family, I am proud of it because someone has to stand up and say it's immoral and destructive
I pretty much fully agree with Dawkins, but I find he can be a little bit condescending when he implies that it's stupid to believe in a supernatural being. There's no evidence for or against..
@Bamuelsanks But it is stupid. I don't think it's cruel or condescending at all to poke fun at people who believe in illogical fantasies or supernatural beings. Fantastic claims that can't be backed up with any demonstrable evidence whatsoever SHOULD be ridiculed.
If I went around saying an invisible green space-fairy visits me in my bed and tells me the world will end if I don't eat M&M's every day, I'd be ridiculed, and rightly so. Religious belief is no different
@Bamuelsanks If there is no evidence for a supernatural being, why would someone believe in one? If someone told you they believe in pixies and elves what would you conclude about their mental capacity? I call people who blindly believe in things without any evidence, stupid. What do you call them?
@mikelheron20 I don't call them anything. A lot of people naturally want to believe in a higher power, in a lot of cases it doesn't harm others in doing so, so why not let them? When it gets to the point that people prioritise religion over law/ethics, that's when it becomes dangerous and something should be done.
@Bamuelsanks It has already reached that point in the USA. The UK often follows Americas lead, Thats the reason why I am openly hostile to religion and not merely neutral.
@mikelheron20 I agree that it's a problem in America with certain individuals, I mean Westboro Baptist Church is a fine example. However, I wouldn't say it's reached that point, it's been like that for a long time and there are far more peaceful religious people than there are violent people. Also I wouldn't agree with the fact that the UK follows the US on religious issues, atheism seems to be the default here, and many US atheists seem to be just "coming out" about their non-religion.
@Bamuelsanks believing in false ideas is never a good thing, thats called ignorance and I can prove that religion is harmful, look at all the wars and genocides over it ,still happening to this day
@mikelheron20 it's because there was no scientific explaination for the natural laws that primitive men observed. they needed an explaination so gods and creators were invented. the problems started when men figured out they could become wealthy and powerful by playing on the fear of punishment.

Richard Dawkins is the Atheist Pope? lol, Even if I was an Atheist, I still wouldn't like him very much. I'm a Christian and I don't even really like Pope Benedict. But if it came down to it, one on one, face to face. I think Pope Benedict would be the pitcher and Richard Dawkins would be the catcher.
@MrSoliPat Uh, apparently I don't, which is why I ask. But if you want to act like a bitch and not answer that's fine. All you're doing is making yourself look stupid.
@QBALL85 i was just pointing a fact out to you and for some reason you got all offended? but hey that's what religious people have being doing this whole time: offended buy facts and truth
@MrSoliPat You weren't pointing out shit. You were just making stupid, irrelevant comments just to chime in your two cents just like typical atheist pricks do. By the way I don't "buy" facts and truth, I research and analyze them just like everyone else does. Learn to spell in the right context too. Dumbass.
@QBALL85 Your a idiot first of all i was pointing out the irrelevance of you comparing the pope to dawkins if your not a catholic. second of all half you comment just there is about my simple mistake which is what alot of you religious people do when atheists slip up on minor matters, and further more you noone is going to care what you have to say when all your doing is trying to insult me not even discussing the matter.
@MrSoliPat What matter is there to discuss? Who are you to tell me whats irrelevant to talk about? I'm not an atheist either, does that mean I shouldn't be talking about Dawkins? You PEOPLE said in this video, "He is the Atheist Pope." Thats why I'm comparing him with Pope Benedict. And the more "minor" mistakes you made, the more uneducated you look. So keep that in mind when you make dumb ass comments.
@QBALL85 wow your ignorance is clearly shown, you said your christian and dont give a shit about the pope and if your not catholic the pope doesnt really mean anything to you so its dumb trying to compare him to dawkins. wow i cant believe i had to spell that out for you. your right there isnt anything for discussion. and im not telling you whats irelevant to talk about im pointing out that its meaningless for a none catholic christian to compare someone like dawkins to the pope.
@MrSoliPat My ignorance is clearly shown? Do you even know the meaning of irrelevant? You can sit there digging yourself in a deeper hole all you want. I can compare Dawkins to whom ever I want. As a matter of fact, Dawkins' karma can land him getting hit by a bus, then he can reincarnate into a tea leaf, get harvested and make a fine soothing beverage for the Dali Lama. What do you think about that?
@QBALL85 Actually, MrSoliPat is correct. You proclaiming that the Pope means nothing to you is irrelevant. You are Christian, not Catholic. Ergo, noone would expect the Pope to mean anything to you. Silly bugger. :p
@7A35 Hitchens died, but so what, he will be remembered and most importantly, his intellect will burn bright for centuries to come, only thing that worries me and saddens me is that i don't think both reached their full potential, since Hitchens died we can't be sure, but i am optimistic for Dawkins.
@linkuei83 The only true eternal life we can have is by speaking the truth. Hitchens will love forever in people's memories. That is the true eternal afterlife.
@7A35 Once one man opens the doors, everyone can go through them. When Dawkins dies, those who admired his words will take initiative, swell up in his wake, and draw courage and inspiration from his memory to defend logic and reason as strongly as he did. It has already started, and it will be exponential. (Not to imply that Dawkins was the first advocate for atheism, but he undeniably shines a brighter beacon than most.)
@7A35 you too eh ? i know man im fearful as well, hes getting very old and there isnt many people who can represent athiesm as well as him. Him and hitchens are the best too bad hitchens died :(. if dawkins dies we lose another marvalous man, and an amazing scientist
@7A35 not sure why that would frighten you but I know that I am going to be pissed because the theists are going to do the same thing they did with Hitchens. Try to claim god killed them and that they are in hell and that they deserve it. Some will attempt to say that he had a deathbed confession.
@CareFreeWherever I saw it too, quite revolting really. I do hope Richard goes through with his claim though, that he´ll have eye witnesses and a tape recorder by his deathbed to prevent future rumors of his deathbed conversion.
Hitchens would never convert, and neither will Dawkins.
I think morality comes from the chemical oxytocin, a chemical associated with trust. Our perceived moral system came from a series of unspoken rules of trading between communities, who, through trading an specialization set up cultures that gave them large doses of oxytocin. This was then later written as laws by kings --> incorporation into holy books.
It sounded like that one lady had asked Richard where he "bought that moral values game from". I mean, I realize what she really said, but it just sounded that way to me when I first heard it. Did anyone else hear it that way?
@thegatheringdenver Good job not addressing what Penn actually said and instead attacking what he did in the past. And by the way 'Mein Kampf' wasn't the only thing Hitler wrote or said, and even in 'Mein Kampf' there are many passages where he describes himself as a fervent Christian and if you do a simple google search you'll easily find good evidence that he may indeed have been a creationist (like many creationists he believed in micro- but not macroevolution for example).
I'm an atheist, I used to think Dawkins was a bit full of himself, then I realized he is a man of facts. Fact is, he is right. Fact is, he is awesome. Fact is, he is smart enough to KNOW this. So why should he pretend otherwise simply for PR?
@wolfriderxxx good call. I found the same thing. He seems a bit too brusque sometimes, but really he's just so fact-based he doesn't 'do' insult or take things personally.
@wolfriderxxx I'm a capitalist, however unlike Dawkins I dont rip religion I rip other things. But it interesting how one person is praised to rip religion yet someone else is to be obayed by the SOPA........ mmmm Then again I think Dawkins is more of a capitalist, then an theist.
@mike62mcmanus he didnt believe in evolution, read mein kampf. genetics has indeed shown there is only one race, however, hitler wasnt to big on evolution, genetics or true science in general, kinda like creationists, which he in fact was. yes, they simply put the belt buckles there to convince the people he was catholic lol denial and hypocrist at its best
@halflifeproductionz where do the morals of other animals like dolphins come from? the fact that we pick which morals in the bible torah etc are good, PROVES that we dont derive our morals from them
@wearestarstuffsagan The point is that you need to redefine what you mean by "animal". Animals have emotions, memories, life experiences, and they even have rituals. Just realise that we just happen to be an extra-successful animal... They could ALL have been as lucky as we have been.
@Vortex42 no we dont need to redefine the word, its fine as it is, it would require the redefining of an entire kingdom of organism bur i see what you are saying and agree
@wearestarstuffsagan I think I meant to respond to the person you were talking with, but clicked the wrong button. I think you and I are on the same page.
He avoided the first woman's question even though he wrote about it in the Selfish Gene. We have evolved empathy as a way of predicting our surroundings, since we are social animals. By this criteria we have a sense of fairness. And by reciprocity, social status, sexual selection, kin selection, and group selection; empathy and justice are advantageous.
@cassidy99ful he believes in subjective good and bad, not objective good and bad because it simply cant exist, its a contradictory idea and fails always
@lmessi123456 Time is a construct of the universe. You cannot comprehend that there was ALWAYS a universe because there was no time that existed where the universe did not.
Through mathematics and relativity we know that time does not exist in a black hole. The entirety of the mass of the universe was lumped into a giant black hole prior to the big bang. Time did not exist in that moment, there was no moment. A god was not needed because the universe always was.
@beatonm198 Your boyfriend Hitchens wasn't afraid of berthing shiploads of sailors in his southern port either... Wikipedia: Hitchens has written of his homosexual experiences when in boarding school in his memoir, "Hitch-22." These experiences continued in his college years when he allegedly had relationships with two men who eventually became a part of the Thatcher government.
Ironically if Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Christians, etc who are all "offended" by atheists such as Dawkins could throw off the mental chains of their religions, which is what Dawkins wants, then we could all come together in the realisation that we are all evolved African mammals stuck here on this rock together under a thin envelope of nitrogen and oxygen rolling around a nuclear fireball and we're on the same boat and have no real differences between us.
One does gain better understanding of the absurdities in religion by actually READING the holy books. Is it any wonder than atheists are the ones who actually did some studying, while the "faithful" rely on pre-chewed lectures and sermons, keeping them neatly in line for lifelong exploitation?
The main lesson is that we all die and forever stay dead. Once you can accept that as a fact of life, you can enjoy your time on this planet much more. There is only nothingness awaiting "beyond"!
There is evidence that within the U.S. strong disparities in religious belief versus acceptance of evolution are correlated with similarly varying rates of societal dysfunction, the strongly theistic, anti-evolution south and mid-west having markedly worse homicide, mortality, STD, youth pregnancy, marital and related problems than the northeast where societal conditions, secularization, and acceptance of evolution approach European norms.
My question is thast why do atheist have to belief and think what believers do? if it were simply true what they say it simply wouldn't need any training or demonstration, like the instincts for anything are not punished so we can learn to have hunger or so simply let it happen and you knopw that show exactly that they are trying to get in , they try to impose because they truloy want to bring down because they are losers at bottom and cannot fight a battle face to face. tell me another reason.
@jcliveron The morals of religion are borrowed from normal human morality. Religious people are scared to anger god so they behave (supposedly), people who don't believe in gods behave for the sake of a good life. Belief in god or not is not a conscious choice, it's not an option to believe or not. Try thinking and reading, not listening and nodding.
@ConnorPatrickOBrien at the end you tell me religious people acts are out of fear only. so they r slaves?. so according to that god created happyness to punish humanity if they r happy? if they don't fear it, that kind of dictatorship to me comes only from a queer bully. I don't fall in the ebelief that there is a god so stupid that needs punishment to guide people. simple hoax. and they hate I know that. religion creates morals too. maybe it can be anti human morality. huh?
I feel so sorry for dawkins sometimes. I don't know how many times i've heard him say ' well the one place where moral values don't come from is the bible...'
The fact that Penn insists that Muslim bogeymen perpetrated 9/11 shows that he is not what he pretends to be. He isn't brave, he isn't a scientist, he isn't living in reality. He's just a pro-1% lackey.
Then your understanding of the Constitution needs a little work. What isn't enumerated and specifically outlined for the Federal Government is handled by the 10 Amendment which says with the greatest of clarity: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, not prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." For further information, please contact the Tenth Amendment Foundation
The 112th Congress has 25 members who honor their Oath out of a field of 535. Who are they? Young(AK),McClintock(CA),Campbell(CA), Buchanan (FL), Macl (FL),Posey (FL),West(FL),Graves(GA),Broun (GA), Labrador (ID), Johnson (IL),Manzullo (IL), Huelskamp (KS), Harris (MD), Bartlett (MD), Amash (MI),Akin (MO), Jones (NC),Myrick (NC), Duncan (SC), Roe(TN),Duncan (TN),PAUL(TX),Chaffetz (UT), Paul(KY) The rest have lied to you. This means we are all FOOLS, useful idiots. We believed them, they lied
@HaloZero147 These are the House members and Senators who honor their Oath of Office 100% of the time. Those people don't give us an Oath to keep their word to "...support and defend the US Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic..." if they feel up to it, or it pays well, but they give their word to DO so. You are your word...these reps promised & are delivering...so far, and the rest are doing so haphazardly. It is the country that suffers. We need more statesmen in office.
@HaloZero147 Scores are based upon adherence to constitutional principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty, individual liberty, and a traditional foreign policy of avoiding foreign entanglements. The scores cover only the 112th Congress until the end of July. There are many places to seek out the scores. Heritage keeps score based on different criteria than the above mentioned. These are from The Freedom Index. You will have to check on Weiner.
@HaloZero147 The criteria is what it is...and those who honor their word, honor their word. I am not picking favorites here. If you want to look up a score card with different criteria by all means do the research. There is a lot to be had out there. I just found this criteria to be what a republic, this republic, is supposed to be. I am rather fond of our Declaration of Independence and US Constitution. Apparently, Bachmann is too (so far), whether she is your favorite person or not.
@possumpistol From what I've seen in this criteria, anything that isn't expressly enabled by the constitution is a bad thing... Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Scientists: *get the fuck off the dying planet first*

Sir, There is no evidence for Evolution and big bang theory. You like it or not, Atheism is also kind of religion based on theory and ideology of Charles Darwin. Your LORD is Darwin just like Muhammad is for Islam and Jesus is for Christianity. All based on FAITH. Science have nothing to do with Darwin theory and evolution. Atheism try to hide their BLIND FAITH behind Science. There is no evidence that our ancestors are apes or monkey. You believe blindly because your LORD Darwin said so. THINK.

Mirrorrim 1 month ago 4
@Bamuelsanks If there is no evidence for a supernatural being, why would someone believe in one? If someone told you they believe in pixies and elves what would you conclude about their mental capacity? I call people who blindly believe in things without any evidence, stupid. What do you call them?
mikelheron20 1 month ago
@mikelheron20 I don't call them anything. A lot of people naturally want to believe in a higher power, in a lot of cases it doesn't harm others in doing so, so why not let them? When it gets to the point that people prioritise religion over law/ethics, that's when it becomes dangerous and something should be done.
Bamuelsanks 1 month ago
@Bamuelsanks It has already reached that point in the USA. The UK often follows Americas lead, Thats the reason why I am openly hostile to religion and not merely neutral.
mikelheron20 1 month ago
@mikelheron20 I agree that it's a problem in America with certain individuals, I mean Westboro Baptist Church is a fine example. However, I wouldn't say it's reached that point, it's been like that for a long time and there are far more peaceful religious people than there are violent people. Also I wouldn't agree with the fact that the UK follows the US on religious issues, atheism seems to be the default here, and many US atheists seem to be just "coming out" about their non-religion.

To answer the first woman's question.
'Where do morals come from?'

@jcliveron The morals of religion are borrowed from normal human morality. Religious people are scared to anger god so they behave (supposedly), people who don't believe in gods behave for the sake of a good life.
