Yeah Ray would beat them both. Pacquiao would be a KO victim. He'd make it exciting and fun because of his style but ultimately he would meet his demise with Ray's left hook.

Mayweather would have a better chance but he'd be at a serious size and power disadvantage. For Mayweather to beat Leonard, he'd have to be aggressive and if he does that, he could meet the same fate that Benitez met. Leonard via unamimous decision.

Ray became the slugger because he could not outbox Tommy, Hearns with the wicked jab and fearful right hand, only way to beat him was attack him and make it a street fight. Watching this fight and the 2nd fight between them, they were almost mirrors of themselves, except for the weight and slowing down of reflexes. Ray was lucky he got this win, he was down on the cards and Tommy just needed to hold.

So Mayweather's competition is a lot weaker these days too...Leonard had to fight, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, and on multiple occasions, most of Mayweather's big fights were against 33+ opponents, De La Hoya, Castillo, Mosely. Or he was simply bigger than his opponents, that does not characterize a defensive genius to me

What a fantastic fight! I was just a kid when I saw this match. Leonard and Hearns are on a superior level from the rest, they are the best welters of all time with no doubt. Some say that Ray Robinson was great, but I never saw him.

@victor3422 Ray Robinson looks like a wide punching amateur compared to Leonard. He hit harder, but was slower, didn't move as well, threw wide amateurish punches that made him off-balance, and had essentially no defense.

Leonard would beat him, although Robinson had a good chin and would lose an ugly decision.

Robinson/Duran would be a good fight. Robinson hit like a mule, so he'd probably KO Duran, but it would be a great fight to watch.

@carmodifire Robinson's defense was to take punches and like it. He threw very wide punches, and was off-balance very often after throwing. He also got hit a lot. You rarely see Leonard (pre-retirement) get hit very often, or cleanly. Robinson was constantly getting hit.

Obviously, Leonard would kill him the way he fought, but it would be interesting to see if Robinson would fight that way if he were fighting guys in the 70s/80s. I think he'd adjust and improve.

U haven't seen many Mayweather fights i can tell by making that comment. Don't think Hearns would just be doing the hitting. Mayweather is one of the best counter punchers in boxing.
