That means that this song wouldn´t be a copy but an adaption what changes situation, specially when this matter would come to court.

Sadly I only know little about this subject (just what we´ve talked about during a musicological seminar). I don´t know laws in Asian countries but it should be standardised somehow.

I remember some songs in my country that were produced mainly for the age bracket around 50 (I´d say). Those "hits" were a more or less exact translation of the english original, e.g. the Titanic song by Celine Dion. Nobody blamed those singers.

Of course you should have received a permission of the first party and I´m pretty sure u also have to pay for it but less than for a cover version. And who says this Burmese guy didn´t get such a permission?! We don´t know. Usually business affairs like this are handled internal and the public is not informed about that - the cover or adaption appears without us knowing what contract there is and how much the other party had to pay.
