Some of the aggressive verses in the Koran can be explained by putting them into the context of the time they where written. Muhammad and the Muslims where persecuted by the majority pagans in Mecca and Medina. They faced overwhelming odds they where almost exterminated by them. Muhammad was mocked by them (pagans) just like Jesus was by the Jews. His house for instance was vandalized. Sound familiar.

But, the radicalization of Islam has led to concepts which impose upon others what they see as the truth and this is basically what Islam does. It sets up governing bodies to monitor each and every aspect of human life particularly a Muslim's life. This video highlights the dangers of radical Islam and should be understood properly.

It commands Muslims to stick up for themselves in a defensive battle i.e: if an enemy army attacks, then Muslims are to fight until the aggression has stopped. All of the verses that speak about fighting/war in the Quran are in this CONTEXT.

Those are just a couple passages the koran I've bookmarked. PLEASE NOTE, THE KORAN WASN'T ARRANGED IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER OF WHEN muhammad WROTE EACH VERSE. THE PEACEFUL PASSAGES WERE WRITTEN WHILE muhammad's FOLLOWING WAS WEAK. IT WASN'T UNTIL HE GAINED POWER DID "allah" CHANGE HIS TONE.

The verse is clearly speaking about the events surrounding the Battle of Badr. It is not a general command to “strike at the necks of the infidels.” Anyone with an understanding of the history of Islam knows this. When I read these verses, I know that they refer to the Battle of Badr. No where in my mind is there even an inkling of a thought to “strike at the necks of the infidels.” It is laughable to suggest otherwise.

You know, anyone can misquote, mistranslate, or quote out of context a verse of scripture to seemingly prove a point. This has been done with the Biblical text for centuries to justify such things as slavery and racism. Muslim terrorists do the exact same thing with the Qur’an to justify their heinous acts of murder. But just because they do so, it does not mean the Qur’an is therefore violent. Capice?

Some of the aggressive verses in the Koran can be explained by putting them into the context of the time they where written. Muhammad and the Muslims where persecuted by the majority pagans in Mecca and Medina. They faced overwhelming odds they where almost exterminated by them. Muhammad was mocked by them (pagans) just like Jesus was by the Jews. His house for instance was vandalized. Sound familiar.

I don't claim to be an expert but I probably know more about the history of Islam then most Americans. It is true that Jesus advised his followers to buy a sword (Luke 22:35-38).

I'm Jewish. But I don't believe that this video represents the Muslim religion. I think it represents a minority of radical Islamists who see Islam as a political ideology rather than a belief. I don't believe all Muslims are good, just like a I don't believe all Jews are good, or all Christians are good. I think every people have their good and bad people, like any group. I have a Muslim friend and he's not fanatic. I'm most people feel the same. I'm all for diversity, tolerance and respect.

But, the radicalization of Islam has led to concepts which impose upon others what they see as the truth and this is basically what Islam does. It sets up governing bodies to monitor each and every aspect of human life particularly a Muslim's life. This video highlights the dangers of radical Islam and should be understood properly.
