  • @harpsinth

Kraftwerk. When this song (originally only in German) became successful, Kraftwerk decided to English, Japanese AND French versions of the song. Kraftwerk made all the lyrics, sung by Ralf Hutter.

    :o)

  • @david180667 Absolutely.

  • @david180667 its to hide the fact he is not singing wake up

  • @sg2massive -- true, for this particular video, he is not singing ENGLISH. If you watch Rg-8O07NoP8 you will see that the audience movements are the same. In that video he IS singing though (german+japanese). Most likely, this video was used because they liked the visuals/audience reaction. I bet they just overdubbed the English portion from a different concert and his hand gestures just made it easier to cover (but Re: covering his mouth => he has done this for DECADES and he WAS signing then)

  • @sg2massive -- And he sure as hell sings NOW too. My point is that, for this particular version (English+Japanese), they likely spliced it together to go with the video footage that they liked the most. If you want proof that he sings now, there are MANY recent live clips of the song here on youtube and if you compare them, it is very obvious that it is live (and not lip-synched). Ralf Hütter is amazing and it's pretty incredible that you would fault him for his age...

  • @sg2massive -- anybody who can survive in music for so long, and still remain a pioneer, is quite exceptional. Whatever. You're probably just a troll and I took the bait, so um yeah... TL;DR = you don't know anything about kraftwerk =/

  • @david180667 it's so he can direct his voice towards the mic.

  • @machiner6 : it's normal, Ralf Hütter got superpowers !!!

  • Comment removed

  • @machiner6 I was wondering if was covering his mouth to hide that he might be lip-synching.

  • @quigleybrown

It is just his style to sing

  • It's REALLY like he was hiding his mouth with his hand on purpose, so we can't see where the vocals are coming from.

  • @mantra3000 Ralf says it's for effecting the voice, like putting a normal microphone near or far. It seems he's hiding his mouth to me too, maybe for the two versions of this live (german and english)

  • @realkenshi

Wow, how do you know that? Glad you thought the same ! The hand close to the mouth whe singing is a really cool gesture.!

  • They have an English accent here. WTF

  • hmm this is growing on me

  • why the fuck would you sing about a calculator?

  • @mac001texas

Because they experimented with Texas instrument calculators when they worked on the album computerworld. The calculators made sounds by every button, so you can make music with them. They played this song on little instruments and calculators in 1981 live concerts.

  • @mac001texas why the fuck would you sing about bedrocking your bed or the shit 'music' they do today. this is way better than the music we hear these days on the radio.

  • @mac001texas its german techno, you dont will understand this.

  • 75 down?? i want to see you do better in 1980

  • @micasaveiro ,don't worry, it's only 75 chicken brains.

  • @micasaveiro Well this is not from 1980. Notice the cellphones in the audience? And how his voice is completely different with age.

I still agree tough, these are the inventors of electronica, but I dunno... A quality is missing in this show. Could just be the voice that's off.

  • @spartan117ak

just ear the original version (80´s) and then compare.

the best performers has never been commercial, so, they are in the middle with this concert, this is not Madonna, minogue.

you need to ear they music to understand and have points to compare.

i can tell you that this is a privilege to see this by this gifted persons at this time.

and i can also tell you that part of this happens because the news artist´s have nothing with quality to show us, they just make copy paste

  • @micasaveiro70 actually
