Well, it looked like you were making easy time of it while paddling just beyond the breakers.. I will start there to be on the safe side. I bought several nice reals last year so equipment wise Im ready except getting the kayak. Any advice for me on the best approach to catch some keepers while close to shore? I did well on shrimp tails and croakers but that was while wade fishing... Thank you for all your help!
Loved the video! Last summer was my first trip to the coast. We camped on the beach for three days and two nights, had a BLAST!! this summer Im thinking i want to try to kayak out to an oil rig and do some fishing. Would you advise a novice kayaker to try this?
@mikeporter76470 Rigs can be farther from shore than they look so test your equipment/skills before attempting a rig. Last year the wind shifted and a rig runner got blown out to sea. Consider an anchor system and do some capsize drills with all your equipment - and take plenty of water, sun screen & a dry bag cell phone. Distress beacons are expensive but when needed most folks would give all they own for one. Go with a group and file a flight plan with someone on shore. Best wishes & be safe.
@kevinduong4 Thank you Kevin. We did have a lot of fun on that trip to Port A. Catching a Redfish is always excitinng, but catching one from a kayak really is a blast. Hope you have a great summer. Thanks again for the comment.
My family and I also love Port Aransas. I really enjoyed your video. You did a great job showing the joy I feel when visiting. I also have some video's of Port Aransas you might enjoy.
@Plsd2beme, Thank you. Yes, Port A is a lot of fun. I really liked your video of the dolphin feeding along the bulkhead. Those guys are much bigger when seen up close. Hope you and faimly have a great summer. Thanks again for the comment.
