  • I'm very sorry that you don't appreciate hearing God comments BUT I never made any in regard to David Bowie or any pop star I never said anyone hasn't a right to say what ever they like So unless you wanna move to somewhere.... Like the Vatican City You will just have to put up with ALL These terribly annoyin' God comments now please go fuck your self and get a life
  • im used to the other version on the game Amplitude lol

  • I much admire singers, for when they sing tough and emotional songs like this. It must take a lot of know-how. With how emotional of a person I am, it would be all I could do to get through half the song without breaking down. I could never be a singer! LOL

  • ITS EASY TO BE PERFECT.. HIS NAMES BOWIE..

  • HE AINT GOD HE AINT 'PERFECT' THERE WAS THIS GUY IN JERUSALEM 2000 ODD YRS AGO THO NAILED TO CROSS = VERY SAD I MAY WRITE A BLOODY BOOK ON HIM MYSELF LOL HE IS A GUY HE SINGS SONGS AND IN MANY WAYS IS LIKE OPPOSITE 2 ELVIS AND DONT 4GET AS I'M SURE MR.BOWIES ACCOUNTANTS WILL DO HE WASNT 'UNIVERSALLY' ADORED TILL LETS DANCE WHEN U GONNA CUM BACK 2 GLASGOW I'LL HELP ON THE BACKING VOCALS I THINK I KNOW ALL OF YOUR VERY 'JOLLYFULL POP DITTIES' I READ HE HAD FANS FROM HERE WHEN HE WAS A TEENAGER!
  • @MURPHNSPUD Oh great, another God muppet who thinks we're all interested in hearing crucifixion commentary in no conversational context. Brilliant.

  • @arabiansanchez 'If you actually READ what I said'

you might get a 'gist' of what I was saying & hoping for

You TOTALLY Lost me on the 'god muppet'

I just tried to be 'real' and say - 4 ALL the 'worship'

from Some quarters - me = i just like listening to his LPs

    how 'weird' is that?

Or are U just a total 'asshole' who reads FAR 2 much in

    'youtube's' comments?

  • @MURPHNSPUD I just don't appreciate hearing God bullshit dropped in to conversation for no reason. I don't believe in God but if he was real, I know enough about christianity to know he wasn't perfect either. Your sensitivity to someone calling Bowie 'perfect', which presumably was meant in a musical sense as a fan, is pretty ridiculous. They have the right to that opinion.. I'm just bored of hearing 'God' references all over here for no reason: same as Lady GaGa and '...arrow to the knee.'

  • and your big fat dog

  • @law32O8 The funny thing is that I have an overweight dog at the moment!

  • The problem with Bowie is that I have to change my pants after every song I listen to by him.

  • Bowie is a treasure.

  • Cute <3

  • Bowie is god. He IS.

  • this is for my brother hugh, who left too soon at 33.everyone says hi shug. love, stephen

  • Beautiful song.

  • David Bowie is our jewel.

  • David Bowie: if he's not

one of us--he's one of them.

  • So, so true !

  • This is just so beautiful, thanks for posting.

  • What a gorgeous man and what a fabulous song!

  • Hey david bowie is my UNCLE!!!!!!

Iman his wife is my mums 3rd cousin!!

  • how can a human being be SO perfect ???

  • helloo hugh! xxx

  • sorry sorry for everething wish you were still here shug xxx

  • width of a circle was brilliant. so is this. absolutely haunting. just dwell on that amazingly unique voice.

  • Right! And Dwell on his eyes and good looks too! Not to mention his Smile! ;)

  • an embarassing track for the man who sold the world...

  • Musically it is very similar to "the man who sold the world" just in a major key, not a minor one.

  • Taken from bowiewonderworld site interview;David Bowie: Yes indeed, "Everyone Says "Hi" everyone seems jolly in tone, but is about the passing away of somebody. It was a general song about losing someone in one's life and wasn't written about anyone specifically. I had the sense of when my father died, and it seemed he had only gone away for a while and it was some time for me to reconcile that he wasn't coming back.

  • Makes sense, how did you find that out? Now it's clear... thanks x

  • This is one of my favourite songs but I spend hours wondering how to read it...I'd love some opinions of what you guys think. I reckon

1: It can be taken at face value and everyone in the song really does miss the person he's singing about.

2: It's sung ironically and he's the only one who really misses this person, because no one has anything to say except hi.

I think it's probably number 2 but I want to work it out and would love your thoughts x

  • No 1 chimes perfectly with my emotions when my daughter went travelling abroad - We all said "Hi" whenever we could , including our big fat dog.

  • love him

    love his hair

    love his clothes

    hot hot hot

  • totally agree!

  • Living in this generation its becoming harder and harder to find proper music that hasn't been mixed 100 times or been rapped at 80 miles an hour... i am so gratefull to Bowie for keeping music alive... love him

  • I don't know, I find it really easy to find good music. The problem I have in trying to get it all.

  • @STIXtwentythree - try my original songs. I'm a recording artist. I love Bowie

  • He is soo cute when he sings this!! One of my favs! Thanks for sharing! XOXO :)

  • THE QUAL ITY IS NOT GOOD

  • his best song of the century ,so far. beautiful.

  • He is Great I listened this song after moved one not so nice city ... But then I found my wife from different place far from that town I just say I can agree 100 per cent his words

  • Someone punched him in the eye with a ring on their finger and his eye is now dialated.

  • @bertfrantic And what just blows my mind is that he and the guy who punched him have always been on good terms with each other. If that were me, I don't know what I would do, or what I would be like, yeah it wasn't intended but it's permanent and I feel bad for him for it because I've heard different stories of what the full effect of it is, but whatever it is I can't imagine it's been easy to deal with.

  • so i have to ask, what's up with his eye? O.o

  • What a great performance of the song. I like this live version the best.

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever written. i dedicate this gorgeous performance to my brother hugh, who left us too soon.

  • hey, nice sentiment and dedication, it is a great song from a truly great artist.

  • Lol. david is a handsome, dgenius. If this song was written during the Ziggy-phase, bet it would be called: Everyone is High!

  • Loved him in Labyrinth

  • I love watching Bowie´s performances, he and his band always play the songs differently.

  • such an amazing...sad...song

  • I say hi too, and thank you david for this beautiful song, how did I manage to miss it until now???

  • I say HI! David is PERFECT!!

Love from Michelle from Michigan! :)

  • Bowie has so many beautiful songs, but this one is special.

  • I am impressed not only by David Bowie but also by the TV crews. In my opinion their camera work accurately focused on this sad yet beautiful song perfectly.

I now understand why there are a number of great musicians in Britain.

  • A truely wonderful song.

  • Last great bowie's song

  • I dedicate this beautiful song to the memory of a friend who passed away this week... R.I.P.

  • Always, ALWAYS keep the memory alive...EVERYONE SAYS HI!!!

  • This man is a genius..

  • This song is beautiful, and so is he

He's always been incredibly brilliant, I really really hope he tours again and releases another album. I've never gotten the chance to see him live and I would very much like to. being born in the wrong time sucks.

  • so true....i love him....<3

  • I feel so thankful to have seen him on this tour with Blue Man Group & Moby. It was a fantastic show.

  • acgh!!

    I'm incredibly jealous!

I'm pretty sure it would almost **almost** make my life if he toured again.

  • It was a life-altering experience, indeed. I forgot, the band "Ash" opened the show, followed by Blue Man Group, then Bowie, then Moby. Busta Rhymes was on the bill but did not show, so everyone else played longer. All 4 artists were GREAT (okay, Ash was "good"). I flew 1,000 miles to see them & would do it again in a heartbeat. Saw BMGroup again recently... I'd highly recommend it.

But seriously, I hope for both our sakes DB tours again, I'll see you there with bells on!

  • And, if you catch the interview before this performance, he talks about his websites... check out bowieart*com, I have some wonderful artwork hanging on my wall done by the man himself!

  • I saw that tour too, at The Gorge in Washington State. I wasn't *right in front* but close enough! It was one of the best concerts I've seen! Awesome!

  • Great tune...we all deserve... some new HI!

  • lo amo Mr Bowie!!!

  • "And Your Big Fat Dog" lol only David could make those words sound wonderful! Fantastic song!!

  • Is it fat or black?

  • fat.

  • its fat. lol

  • Bowie delivers once again!

  • Great, great song!!

  • Mi hijo nacio cuando vi una pelicula de David Bowie, siempre ha formado parte de mi vida, lo admiro tanto.Maria

  • This song is dedicated to his father whom is deceased. Just an amazing, georgous song. . . <3

  • One of my favorites. And very few other singers can make a live version sound better than the recorded version.

  • At the end of the song, Bowie does a little dance jiggy. I do that little jiggy too when I put some tasty foods in my belly

  • And for you jokers out there, No, I don't put semen in my belly to make do a little jiggy.

  • his later songs sound better live i think.

  • I hate David Bowie, but I can not stop singing his songs , could this mean I really like his stuff lol.

  • i think that's a safe presumption.

    Embrace it lol.

  • Beautiful song by David Bowie and may I also add that Gail Ann Dorsey's bass playing was superb.

  • u can almost see tears in his eyes when hes singing it

  • There is a natural glitter in his eyes. It seems like tears. But he does seem totally involved in his songs.

  • Another one of my FAV'S (and his) from my horney hero of 30+ years...

  • at some moments, it sounds alil like "imagine"

  • at some moments, it sounds alil like "imagine

    ???????????

  • such a wonderful song...i love it...such a handsome is david...i want him...

  • hes so beautiful. as is this song..

  • I've loved this song for years, but it just struck me today he could be singing about someone who has died. Makes it even sadder.

  • Just love the words of this song . Simple and straight to the point - beautiful

  • this makes me cry, its so wonderful

  • I think l can enlighten you everyone about the song, and where it derives from. Just before heathen came out, he was on radio 1, and was asked what was his favourite track, and he said this one.....because it was dedicated to him losing his dad. It brings tears to my eyes every time l listen to it.

For me one of his best.

  • The reason I lobe this song is becasue of the story behind it. I think he was in Italy writing songs for Heathen and he was thinking about his mum, dad , and everyone he had ever lost. Its such a positive song about loss.

He has had his truly bad moments, but then he hits you with something like this. Absolute class.

Bowie has always been ahead of his time, just look at Five Years to see what I mean.

  • I think he composed and recorded heathen in switzerland, but I love your story

  • I love looking at his face, he is so unique in a very sexy way :)

  • I do love this song.

  • Everyone says moi in Finsterwolde...Marry me David!

  • if your talking about david, your the gay one if you ask me!! I love him he's the best and very clever unlike you!!

  • He's bi, there are rumors about him going out with Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger, the guy from Judas Priest... But he's married to a woman now anyways.

  • he also said that gay/bi was a phase =P

  • I love this song. First heard it when my son had left home under difficult circumstances at 16 to live with his godmother. Still moves me to this day

  • Beautiful! Love how he is always experimenting and improvising a bit with his voice in live performances. *****

  • man, he clearly loves singing xD

    LOVE Bowie

  • Hi-I-I-I-ya! Love that bit .♥

Makes me cry. Brilliant, Beautiful and touching song, but so sad.

  • Why do you cry?

  • It's about someone dying. When I said about crying, I meant the whole song, not just that bit.

  • You do not understand. Why do people cry? Sadness does not compute.

  • I think I do understand. I'll cry if I want to.

  • I love this song so much. Makes me think about my mum

  • the words are so pretty I love it and Bowie is awsome...as always!

  • one of my fave songs by Bowie. an excellent performance, of course )

  • Thanks for sharing Alan - love it so much! Bowie rocks and rules the world.

  • I love this song it my favorit

  • David Bowie is Genius

  • this song is one of my favorites!

  • this is a classic already

  • saw him perform this song live in 2002 and he was awesome... gets better and better with age

  • great tune - up with his classics

    respect mr b

  • "Hope the weather's good and it's not too hot" = heaven and hell

  • The song's about death and how the heathen deals with it, pretends the deceased has just gone on a trip - everyone says hi.

  • heathen or simply someone who cant handle someones departure easily

  • Love this track. What a band he's got together; that bald black sister play's well.

  • Gail Ann Dorsey. Awesome!!

  • Open to interpretation.

I'd assume in the context of mum and dad, big fat dog that the guy upstairs is l iterally the guy that lives above the narrator.

  • I was watching different live versions of this song when a thought occurred to me: is the guy upstairs supposed to be God?

  • One of his best songs from the last years, thanks
