I had a similar type of portable player. Worked great. The one thing that pissed me off with 8tracks was their fading in the middle of a song and fading back in after changing tracks. It would have been much less irritating if they'd just clicked in the middle of the song.
Absolutely awesome, my Dad had one (God Bless) in his XJ6 Jaguar back in the 70's but he only had two cassettes, a compilation of Ennio Morricone's music from the Dollar series movies and I think a Dean Martin compilation...Oh, and yes, the family stereo had an 8-track as well, built in was the amplifier plus radio tuner with Wharfdale speakers. All quite posh back then, thanks for posting.
i need to get one of these.'cept i noticed these players are very very expensive, drats.
i already have a regular Panasonic 8-track player with AM/FM and woodgrain finish. if only these TNT players had a headphone jack i'd be way more interested in it other than the looks. think i'd rather have a Welltron 2001 but these look cute and more portable. i can imagine bringing one on the bus lol.
no matter what they made, seemed like panasonic products always, ALWAYS, had a kick ass sound to them. even these cheap ass things. remember the toot-a-loop and panapet? i have a couple of pana SW radios from 70's will never sell!
I have not seen this in so long as I remember the TV commercial. Many years ago, I was told cassette players were going out as 8 tract were the thing. Yeah' right, 8 tract went out in the early 1980's as cassette player keep going until the early 1990's. I still have many vinyl records, over 3000 since the early 1970's until the early 1990's.
I had a red one. I remember having the soundtrack to "Grease" and the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper..." on 8-track. In fact, I still have the "sgt. pepper..." tape.
I had one in yellow. Don't call it a "piece of junk". That was state of the art in portable players back in the day. It wasn't meant to be an audiophile device, it was a really convenient way to play recorded music anywhere.
@nostalgiabufff Lucky, and I mean that. I miss 8 tracks and cassettes. I've thrown out more scratched CDs than I have "bad" tapes of both formats. If I won $ someday I'd go on ebay like crazy for both tapes.
@RacerE7773 people always complain about how "bad" 8-tracks are and it's not even true. i have various albums on both 8-track and CD and honestly the 8-track versions sound better. i've always hated when CD's all get scratched up and make that annoying skip sound. way worse than any bad 8-track i've heard.
Nice. My friend from high school had one of those Panasonic players. I like how Panasonic radios and tape players came in different shapes and colors.
They apparently made a clear one of these, I've seen pictures of one.

Whoever invented this was a pure genius. If this came out now, I would by the yellow, red, and blue radios.

so that's how it works! cool! I never realized that all 8 songs were arranged that way on the tape, very inventive!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
its piece of junk that's not even in stereo and it has that all too familiar dragging sound 8 tracks used to make when playing

Awesome--my brother had this exact player, red and all. I remember listening to Manfred Mann's Earth Band on it.

Owned it in blue, 1976....
Birthday gift, with the Columbia TC8
of Dylan's "Hard Rain" album.
Still worked well in 1990 when I
gave it away.
