  • She is freakin scary!!

  • And she doesn't use one of those electric knives, no nonsense Fanny.

  • I've only just discovered Franny Cradock and despite the bad reputation she endured later in her life, I must say, her technique, wit and man-hating goodness make me love her all the more.

  • What year was this broadcast, by the way?

  • what a mad bitch. love her though.

  • "Here's a dish I've just pipped with some potato."

    As one does...........

  • I bet she was good in bed.

  • Nah, i hear shes a bit stiff.

  • Yeah of course she is now! Bit mouldy too i'd expect.

Back in the day tho, I bet she was a right kinky dominatrix.

  • absolutely hilarious - using garden shears to cut a chicken up. lol

  • If that bird wasn't dead when she started, it certainly was when she finished

  • @Mahoney8T7 Nothing wrong with that, as long as they've not done any gardening beforehand. ;)

  • She said she was going to do it very slowly for demonstration purposes...

  • Even so, her methods are not methodical, and her suggested time of 3.5 minutes is too long.

  • I know it would take me a lot longer than 3.5 minutes to carve a bird! ;) Knifes always make me nervous. I think techniques back in the 70s were a bit different today. We are a bit more sophisticated than in the 70s, but this is entertaining. hehe

  • My god, i have never seen a bird hacked like that, with those garden cutter things,i mean would'nt you be carted off to the nutty farm if someone saw you doing that!

  • she was good with the knife though for legs and wings. but the clippers?

  • oh - it's all so good...favourite bit? How she just casually slings it on a plate that she has taken the trouble to PIPE EDGE with freaking green potatoes! What a lovely yet utterly mad bitch - she is all about ease of cooking - "we shall deal with the question of saving time..over everything in fact" and yet she busts out the green mash garnish. Priceless!

  • rofl I love her! She's, like, "here's how to make absolutely stunning, flawless food for your cretin family. I do hope you enjoy, because it's the war and mine will just shovel it into their gaping maws."

  • I can totally imagine her saying that

  • Glen CLose would do a better job playing her than the woman who played her recently!!

  • Absolutely! I was racking my brains as to who she reminded me of - Glenn Close would have done a brilliant job!

  • "Phrases describing her cooking style range from "wildly eccentric" to "preposterous." Her food was as flamboyant as she was: brandy butter dyed green, mashed potatoes dyed mauve or green, whole salmon, boned, covered with thin cucumber slices serving as scales and with fins and eyes piped back on for presentation, cooked pigeon breasts served at the table with real pigeon wings attached back on."

  • Is there no more of this? That tip of using the piping bag to get the stuffing in without having to bother about the trussing is brilliance.

  • This woman would cook children given half a chance...

"HAAAAANSEL! GREEEETAL! WHERE ARE YOU MY LOVELIES...?"

  • Now thats what i call a good looking woman !

  • I wouldn't like to be near her when she's in a bad mood using that knife and secateurs. I kind of feel I'd end up like that chicken.

  • She's frightening!!

  • a very handsome wing, indeed!

  • Oooh, those piddly little bones in the breast would do my head in

  • More please! I watched "Fear of Fanny" on BBC4 last night, great drama. Bring back Fanny!

  • Fanny actually says, "I'm no women's lib. Don't think for a moment. I'm not such a clot".

  • Love this! She's such a star! But it's a bit unfairly labelled... what she says is "I know all about women's lib! Don't think me such a clot to not!"

  • Clairefaerie - will you marry me? I just adore Fanny and thankyou so much! Can't wait for the rest.

  • Do you remember the scream years ago when Fanny's husband Johnnie, said about Fanny's baking...hope your doughnuts turn out like Fanny's, scream, scream...hee hee hee...

  • Go Fanny!! Anymore to come clairefaerie??

  • Glad you like! Yes, I taped this whole Christmas series and I'll try to get them up in the week. :)

  • I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your Fanny Cradock clips... When will you have them up?

  • @clairefaerie Your efforts are most appreciated. Thank you.

  • @ 3:59, it stops becoming a meal carving and turns into an autopsy.

  • I bang Fanny Cradock so hard shell have cake batter coming out of her ears.
