Great player and very complete too. Van Basten had great technique an skills olthough he was really tall. Unfortunetly he is an invalide. I also like Rummenigge, Gheorghe Hagi, Stoichkov, Romario and Zico. I like Zico more than Pele, on field and off the field.
Zico although a brazil great was not even better than Rivelino in my opinion...other top greats would include Baresi,Maldini,Klingsman,Baggio and Laudrup

To continue: Völler, Schuster, Hugo Sanchez, Cabrini, Butragueno, Caniggia, the argentinia goalkeeper Goycochea, Gascoigne and even Valderrama were great too. The super cup (Johan Cruijff Schaal) is named after him. He was selected as the golden player of the Netherlnads by KNVB, and the number 14 is retired in the Amsterdam Arena. He is now an integral part of how Ajax is run, and is helping to rebuild their youth academy in order to make Ajax an European power house again.

zidane > Cruijff, you're kidding, right? Cruijff achieved far more prizes (individual/team) than Zidane, but prizes are not everything, the person and footballer Cruijff are far more bigger than Zidane. Zidane was the best of his generation, but Cruijff, Maradona and Pele are more than that.

Cruijff has been chosen best European football player of the 20th century, won three times the EC1 and was the soul of his teams Ajax and Holland (1974 best team ever played), they are both seen as Dreamteams. @salvi1979 This is not a good argument. So by your definition even a substitude player from spain in 2010 is better than crujff was just because he won the world cup? I doubt. Zidane is a way overrated, he was on peak from 1998 to 2002. Crujff dominated football from the late 60s to the late 70s.

@salvi1979 That even doesnt make your comment better in any way. Jordan had the opportunity to win the championchips in any year but a football players opportunity is given only after 4 years. A player can dominate a decade without winning the WC, just like Di Stefano, Crujff and Platini did, olthough platini had to share his domination with maradona. Zidane himself said he was at most average at the 98 WC. And like I said just because you win the WC doesnt mean you are all time best.

I mean Di Stefano won the european cup 5 times with madrid, he scored like lets say 800 goals but he never won the world cup because he never played the cup. Would you still say zidane is better than Di Stefano because of his WC Trophy and his 2 final goals? I mean Zidane himself said he didnt play that well in 1998.

@salvi1979 I have never thought about my best 15. Is this your list from the top on, Maradona 1, Pele 2 and so on? Well Maradona is the best player I have ever seen. Nobody comes close to him when it comes to football abillities. I like most of the players of your list too with the exception of garrincha.In my opinion He is the most overrated player in history. I have seen some stuff but he never impressed me and he used to do the same thing: move left to the left and run to the right

@salvi1979 Yes Ronaldinho is kind of overrated. He was like 2-3 years on top only. Ah I forgot about Matthäus. He could play at any position his trainers asked him for. Great player and very complete too. Van Basten had great technique an skills olthough he was really tall. Unfortunetly he is an invalide. I also like Rummenigge, Gheorghe Hagi, Stoichkov, Romario and Zico. I like Zico more than Pele, on field and off the field.

To continue: Völler, Schuster, Hugo Sanchez, Cabrini, Butragueno, Caniggia, the argentinia goalkeeper Goycochea, Gascoigne and even Valderrama were great too. Valderrama was a bit slow but he could do great passes. Passarella was a great and togh defender.

And btw Crujff won the club europeans champions cup like 3 times, zidane won just 1 time but zidane lost 3 europeans club finals in a row too! Does that make zidane better than Johan? @jccusell You have to be joking right. In the Netherlands Johan is seen as a hero. Every young dutch boy playing football in the streets looks up to what he accomplished. The super cup (Johan Cruijff Schaal) is named after him. He was selected as the golden player of the Netherlnads by KNVB, and the number 14 is retired in the Amsterdam Arena. He is now an integral part of how Ajax is run, and is helping to rebuild their youth academy in order to make Ajax an European power house again.
