Therion is always raising the bar, and setting higher standards for themselves.

They have never ceased to amaze me just by the purity of the melodies and harmonies, and how well they blend every instrument and voice together, that takes true talent. We need more artists in the industry that have actual talent like Therion has. Throw out most of the garbage cluttering up the industry, and have more artists that have earned the rank of "Artist." Therion is art, plain and simple.

The thing is, just like in Norse mythology, there's always a bright new beginning after the dark and melancholy end. After Ragnarok, two surviving humans named Lif and Lifthrasir ("Life" and "Life-Chaser") repopulate the earth, and even though most of the Gods die during Ragnarok, some survive and carry on.  I think the way the song is written captures the death and rebirth pretty well :p
