I have both read the book and watched the film, and as much as the film differs from the novel (he had blond hair and blue eyes! - as well as many other areas) both are equally good for different reasons. I highly recommend both :)

this movie is perfect! from the very beginning to the very end. It made me to think about my own life. People believed Dorian had a very good life, but really he was unhappy, because his soul was rotted. He forgot that hurting others means also hurting himself.

It frustrates me how wrong they got the publicity for this film. It got plenty of good ad spots and the trailer is really good but the poster was too Harry Potter/throw-away fantasy-like. If I hadn't already known how (amazingly) fucked up the story was then I would never have bothered to give the film a second glance. I actually really liked the film but, in my opinion, the posters etc should have captured the serious darkness of this story.

This movie was quite surprising. Sure, they left out a lot of the wit that Oscar just poured into his work and there were some pretty major changes to the plot, but it does not lose it's essence. It's different, but in a good way, which doesn't happen often. The characters were well played and Ben Barnes was brilliant as Dorian. Shame they didn't release it in the States. I would have seen it sooner.

This film version is visually quite appealing and well casted, however it carries at a faster pace than the book, everything is so rushed. this is one of those movies proving that there can be a good adaptation of the literary classics and you don´t always need a handful of visual effects to do so :)

almost theatrical experience, great actors, great dynamics and just enough creepiness - a perfect balance between art and fear, I think :)

Dorian isn't the nice, loving guy who sacrifices himself for the made-up daughter of Lord Henry! He's arrogant, narcissistic and definitly NOT self-sacrificing!!!!
