@livestrong I was trying to figure out if it was the caffeine or artificial sugar that was raising my sugar. I cannot drink diet sodas, it raises my sugars just like a regular soda. But I noticed when I drank green tea, that also raised my sugars
I've seen a study that said caffeine inhibits insulin production. What are your thoughts?
PEOPLE IF YOU HAVE AN UPSET TUMMY STOP EATING HEALTHY BALANCED DINNERS AND BEGIN EATING FATTY FOODS IN TWO PLATE SIZE MEALS DAILY and no more than two plate sizes of it .
if eating healthy balanced dinner is keeping you starving then stop eating it and eat only two plate full of fatty foods daily to dry up all of the diarhea or sick so eventually you can enter the stage of body strength again .
CAUTION : an over dose of vegetables makes us sleepy in the day and less aware of daily happenings .
1/5th of all Type II diabetics are not overweight and there's obviously a genetics component to the disease. Being overweight does not cause diabetes...it's exacerabates it of course....as does lack of excercise...but diet plays a far bigger role in controlling it than excercise does...it's not even close. I took my a1C from 13.1 to 5.2 in three months with virtually zero additional excercise. Cut the carbs...cut the disease.
Diabetics develop because people don'tk now any better..
They keep eating preservatives, excess sugars and artificlal flavors.
If humans where still living in the wild, pre-civilization, the amount of sugar contained in a soda pop, one wouldn't encounter it in the wild in a month, and think about it.. Some people have a lot more than 1 soda pop a day, not counting the rest of the sugars in foods.
The human body was not designed to take all that sugar in.
Bullshit. Type 1 diabetes is caused by damage to the pancreas, which often happens in childhood by disease. Type 2 diabetes has a very big genetic predisposition. There is no concrete evidence to suggest a person who's genetically predisposed to diabetes type 2 can prevent getting it by exercising. If you are not predisposed, you can prevent it by watching your food and calories. That is the only instance in which diabetes can be prevented. Don't talk shit.
Ever heard of genetic predisposition? I said only non-genetic predisposed individuals can prevent only type II diabetes by exercise and healthy food. Would you like to argue with this and hundreds of peer-reviews to my evidence?
Thin people have diabetes because their pancreas was damaged, which results in type I diabetes (in which the pancreas no longer makes insulin) or because they were genetically predisposed, which results in type II diabetes (in which insulin receptors are diminished in number or sensitivity). If you exercise enough and mind your food a bit you will probably not develop type II diabetes if you are not genetically ballasted.
You claimed diabetes was caused by preservatives and artificial flavors (you didn't even mention which diabetes, which lead me to question whether you know anything at all about diabetes). Please show me a peer-review that links artificial flavors and preservatives to diabetes type I or II.
Exercise is will help improve your blood sugar control in case of type 2 diabetes and it will also greatly diminish the countless risk that have been associated with type 2 diabetes (such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, lipemia, syndrome X, ...). Not to offend you, but I see you live in the States, and being clinically trained and knowing the statistics about obesity and type 2 diabetes, are you obese? In that case these previous risk are even higher.
Uva Ursi or Alfalfa works really well- and I agree with saarliebrites- I know many thin diabetics- type 2 can be because your cells don't accept your insulin ( that's my problem) not because you are fat!!
@sidmalicious I take offense to this. Not all diabetics are fat. As a registered dietitian you should know that type 1 diabetics have to control their diabetes with insulin and diet and exercise and their diabetes isn't brought on through being overweight. Please do not lump all diabetics into the obese category because it's very insulting.
@staarliebrites I agree completely, I have always been very active, be it with running, or biking (also eating healthy). I still somehow became type 1 a few years back. I can not stand it when people don't truely understand diabetes and just generalize.
@staarliebrites Yes, you're right about that. I think alot of people don't know about Type 1. Most of the time it is talked about on shows or in the media, they are referring to Type 2, and that's what people think diabetes is.
Thank you so much for this information. I've taken my notes on everything and I will start today! Who knew.....? Glad you explained magnesium & gave alternatives. So helpful in making the right food choices. Peace
There's no conclusive studies showing cinnamon does anything. Fenugreek? C'mon. This video should be banned; it's dangerous!
Cut out the carbs and especially refined carbs and join a diabetes forum where you can interact with people who know what works and what doesn't. Registered Dietitians are on the bottom of every well controlled diabetic's help list.
Sweetened or unsweetened green tea? Using sweetners such as Equal or Sweet n low, splenda? Sugar in the raw, how about honey? Or simple non sweetened green tea?
Try out stevia (liquid form is best). It is an herb that is super sweet but that doesn't elevate blood sugar levels. Buy it from a local health food store. The stevia sold in grocery stores is usually mixed with actual sugar or with sugar substitutes.
It has a slight bitter after taste (kind of like sacharrin), but you can get used to it. It doesn't make a great sugar substitute for baking but it is fine in drinks like tea or coffee.
When did I ever suggest fruits shouldn't be eaten? All I'm suggesting is that we've survived for 40,000 years without a diet of whole grains and soy milk and therefore shouldn't indulge overtly in 'health foods'.
@ jester I feel U!!! But what some call health food is common food to others which is why I am strong on eating an Asian or Ethiopian diet because it common to eat healthy foods in those cultures....However...TEFF is a whole grain yet is the only grain in the world that has every essential nutrient the human body needs to survive including Vit B12. PEACE!!
If I could add to your list:
consistent drinking of lemon juice, stevia has worked very well with lowering my blood sugar as well as helping qwell the taste for a soft drink.
Apple cider vinegar is also very good at lowering sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels

If you really were what you claimed to be (or atleast a competent version of), you'd know that what you just said was a load of shit.
And I have to agree with Staarliebrites, as well. I'm diabetic because my liver produces double the amount of certain enzymes it's supposed to.

Or eat them there whole grainz n granola n stuffz...
