You could make a game where you are not limited to playing in a narrow, bordered area. I know there are sandbox games but what they offer in playing area they take away with other stuff. If the next next gen consoles are the same leap forward as the ps3 was compared to ps2 or Xbox 360 was to the Xbox then I can't even begin to imagine what amazing games they could come up with...I'm just worried that it would take them too long in game development for it to be worth while

I can't wait for the next next gen console to come out. I'm already tired of the limitations of the current ones. The draw depth, the limited physics, memory ( ex. A car passes you and when you turn around the street is empty) graphics are still pretty good in the new games (gt5 forza4 etc) but the screen tear and shadows are annoying. What annoys me the most for some reason are the spectators in the FIFA games :)

no doubt, valve is working with sony on steam intergration with ps3/4 also half life 3 engine. sonys already started steam with portal2. its only gona get better (or worse for some) i myself came from pc gaming to console, using steam etc. and it was incredible. but having options, like geting steam on ps3. is amazing. i think, sony won't release anything new until halflife3 engine is up and running and it being playable with decent framerates on max settings.
