  • incredible

  • Tonight at the Shank Hall, Milwaukee, WI; home of the "Goes to 11" scene. I'll be there!

  • uli is still awesome he was awesome in the scorps and by himself just cool as hell!

  • @ianrandell Pls film some to us who can't ever get to see him live!

  • playing plymouth uk 14/1/12 awesome!!

  • The True Master. No one can touch Uli. Sorry Yngwie, but as someone above mentioned, you can shred but you can't make the music this man makes.

  • trop bon ,mon idole avec hendrix

  • Omg This really reminds me of Jason And Marty

  • this guy remember me the scorpions of 70

  • I'm pretty sure his drummer here is Clive Bunker from the original Jethro Tull.

  • the Master..

  • This is amazing!!! I wish that i had a Sky Guitar so I could learn to play like the great master himself. Uli is one of my top favorite guitarists of all time

  • This is what Yngwie will sound like when he gets older and slows down

  • Don't forget that Yngwie pretty much formed his whole stage persona after Blackmore.

  • Absolutely Beautiful Playing

  • I dont think this guy is thaaat good lol. A bit overrated in my opinion. And his guitar is ugly as shiiiiiiiiit

  • @pilotoatomico his guitar may be ugly as shit, but it has 7 strings and 37 frets - it is the SKY GUITAR and he is a master of the guitar.

  • The only difference between Uli & Yngwie is that Uli writes stuff I actually want to listen to.

  • listen vai, gilbert, malmsteen, and patrucci all copy ulis style, he made neo classical guitar style popular

  • Sounds like wingnut malmsteen jerkoff music too me! Just sayin lol

  • A virtuoso guitar player!

  • Uli is God!

  • people always give so much credit to randy rhoads and EVH! but Ulis playing blows them off the stage! and to top it all he was doing it way before them! i mean he was proper shredding! not just pentatonics and simple single digit tapping!

  • uli is so underated its unreal. one of the best guitar players alive today.

  • Uli is fantastic. Like some have mentioned, Yngwie, Becker, Friedman, etc... were definitely listening to him back in the late 70's/early 80's... you can hear the influence. I wish Yngwie would get back to playing with more of a bluesy/Uli vibe in addition to the shred stuff like he used to when he first hit the scene. I think he goes for the throat too much nowadays like he's trying to prove something.

  • @khabibissell No I think he just feels he has transcended blues - neo-classical is his forte. I think Yngwie is definitely more clean, precise and practiced with his harmonics and everything but I can definitely see that some if not a lot of influence by Uli has come into play. Yngwie, though, for me, is different and partly incomparable due to the fact that he prefers exclusively classical pieces. They're both good in their own right.

  • this guy is amazing! his tone is kinda scratchy but in a good way, it has a lot of expression in it, like a violin or something.

  • tres bonne toune et un guitariste incroyable belle découvete

  • fav uli jon roth song and performance to date!

  • Very versatile guitarist. He's a real badass. Cool guitar too.

  • Didnt you hear anything far beyond yngwie?

  • He's like a neo-classical hippie space gypsey with a bad ass guitar. hahahaha

  • Hey Beatbay, you fuckn grow up asshole. Have u ever heard of sarcasm.

  • Uli is God...the 35 dislikes are complete retards who should die a slow painful death.

  • Ahh so this is Syu's influence!!

  • how many frets we got going there anyhow...........anyone?

  • @dblup157 Depending on which one of his guitars it is, either 30 or "35". (The spacing between frets is a whole tone as opposed to the semi tone of a normal fret, making it effectively 35 frets.)

  • He played Detroit 6 or 7 yrs. ago to a small crowd at a club called the Irock -

Chilled out right at stage side, close up. Ultra cool, like a guitar workshop.

  • this is quite boring

  • What a boring crowd...

  • I hope the 35 dislikes die a slow painful death...

  • @backroadjunkie come one, grow up. this is awesome, but seriously: grow up!

  • i saw all great artist in the world

also the best guitarist of the world

but no one can preform as Uli

Yngwy is just a student , gus J a pupil, friedman a little boy , John Oliva Randy Rhoades, blackmore, zakk wylde, Jake E lee, Satriani Gary Moore Steve Vay John Petrucci and so on and so on i saw them all ,

But Uli is A higher level

  • 7 strings guitar yet he makes it look so easy to play.

He plays so naturally, from out of his soul, almost without looking at his fingers.

Here's the real master of guitar at work.

  • @ryudragon12, Yes, Uli owns Jimi's Black Strat !

No one, and I mean absolutely NO ONE can match the Feel, Dynamics and Playing ability in this song.......

  • @ryudragon12, Yes, Uli owns Jimi's Black Strat !

  • Guitar Phenomenon

  • 35 people prefer lady gaga

  • this man is a legend, his guitar is a legend, his melodies are divine,

sold the second i found this

  • tasteful!!!!!!!

  • When I hear this You can hear Yngwie,Jason Becker,ect..can you guess who they listened to back then?

  • @IDGAD777 Marty even more..

  • To the Super ORION91. Matthias Jabs is great guitarist too. Or can you play guitar better than Matthias Jabs. I want hear when you play Rock You Like Hurricane guitar solo. Or No One Like You guitar solo.

  • @MrVarvio I'm sure that even while being completely drunk Uli Roth could play these solos matthias jabs

  • Eat a dick, Mathias Jabs!

  • i heard that Uli Jon Roth has the guitar of Jimi Hendrix

  • I`m german .. and for the the first time .. I`m proud I am. :-)

  • Hino obrigatório!

  • Virtuoso

  • Mestre supremo. E ainda tem uns merdas q me vem querer falar de Jimmy Page...

  • demaciado felling

  • 3:15 jason becker

  • thats a guitar or a violin!!!!! too much frets!!!!!

  • @ShreDeth6 Its a 27-fret Sky custom guitar,it has 7 strings too!!

  • Since the first time I heard Taken by Force Uli took me to a land of scales that were different than the rest I had heard.. Uli introducing melody with the minor modes changed the whole game as much as Sgt Peppers changed things. Being influenced by Jon Lord and Uli has made me do keyboard leads that take it to a new level. Thanks brother. I've passed on your teachings to many Canadian musicians. We all appreciate and respect you. God bless Mr. Roth.

  • O Rock e a música clássica formam uma parceria perfeita!

  • Dear Malmsteen, you picked up everything form Uli, except the good taste.

  • @ternatese oh c'mon, why is everyone picking on Yngwie? He's a god.

  • @Sivels Since I don't know how well God can play the guitar, you may be right :-)

  • @Sivels no yngwie is a disciple, uli is a god

  • @ternatese hahahahaha

  • @ternatese Don't be so hard on Malmsteen. In comparison to Uli, he's way overrated, sure. But Yngwie Malmsteen is still a great, and SINCERE musician if you ask me.

  • Eu piro quando eu ouço este som!!!

  • Uli is great as ever. And the best part he is still in the 70"s!

  • All hail the maestro!!

    Uli rules

  • I've just heard about Ulli Jon Roth and this is an amazing introduction. There's a LOT of WOW in his playing.....

  • uli roth = most under rated guitarist ever

  • Uli Jon Roth is tremendous. Steve Morse is also brilliant and in my opinion the only other who should be mentioned along with Uli because he is also humble and a great overall musician.

  • I have just discovered Uli Jon Roth because I saw him playing lead guitar with Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins At Rock Am Ring. They where playing Gossamer an amazing tune and his playing right up there with Billy's playing. Billy on lead guitar, Uli on lead guitar, Jeff on rhythm guitar, Ginger on base guitar, and Lisa on the keyboard it was beautiful.

  • 30 frets ? lol

  • Ainda toco igual a ele!

  • it's great. also sounds like Al DiMeola in parts!

  • Stop comparing uli to yngwe motherfuckers. It's totally different music.

Uli doesn't even want to know about heavy metal.

  • @godofreudson Uli is pretty metal. He's actuallly friends with Kirk Hammet of Metallica and was on That Metal Show.

  • @redsfan293 No. Uli is not metal. Have you actually listened to his work post-scorps?

Where did you get that kirk hammet info?

  • @godofreudson I wasn't saying he plays metal but I think he enjoys it. As for the Hammet info, Uli appeared on That Metal Show with Kirk and they talked about how they had been jamming back stage.

  • @redsfan293 Yes, he does ..i saw them on TSM .

  • This guy is better than yngwie i mean listen to his melodic content WAY above

  • Hey Steve how bout dis guy?!!

  • one of the best solos i heared much more feeling than yngwie

  • And this is nothing compared to his stuff with the scorpions

  • First of all this isn't shredding, whoever said that. I play uli and yngwie stuff and they utilize the same scales. So does ritchie blackmore. Anyway if you actually study there stuff there not that alike. There are some simalarities but you get that with just about any guitarist . Most of the time you can hear a guitarists influences. it's not a bad thing

  • Aside from Malmsteen, I can actually understand and hear his shreding... He seems to be hearing what he is playing... very good.

  • hey yngwie your dad called he wants his technique back

  • Uli Jon Roth is one of those immensely talented and influential but largely forgotten musicians that just keeps plugging away over the years. This is an excellent example of the pure skill the man possesses.

For the record, unless names like Blackmore, Schenker, Hendrix, and those mentioned as his contemporaries, not much else needs be said. He's not a big name in the popular culture, but guitarist worldwide are beholden to him and know his work.

    Hetfield? Hammett? Please.

  • Beside the legends, I would only rank M. Schenker. R. Blackmore and R. Montrose above this boy. Very smooth. Sorry Eddie.

  • Absolutely amazing! one of the most talented beings to grace rock n roll: Ulrich Roth

  • Brutal magnanimo impresionante. JUst amazing.!!!!!!!

  • Roth don't need no guitar stance.

He stands like a gentleman, legs together, back straight . . .

  • Es un mago!!!! impresionante! el padre de ese género!

  • Roth influenced Yngiwe and on this song I think Roth was influened by Yngwie. It all comes full circle.

  • What kind of guitar is that guy playing?

  • @tatemalmsteen

    selfmade

  • @Saundful Beautiful tone and amazing playing ability. This guy is truly a master.I have heard of him but this is the first time I ever listened to him.

  • @tatemalmsteen it's the ESP sky guitar, created for him according to his ideas. a sky guitar costs a lot. I saw one of them on the net....it costs something like 10000$

  • Justin Bieber have 33 accounts.

  • @Gendraen fuck you thats barely funny i bet you're trying to get thumbs up for your comment faggot

  • One of the few guitarists on the planet that actually pull off playing fast with such taste! Yeah there are a few other guys who play fast, but this is the master right here!

  • hmmmmmm..

    Best Guitarist ever!

  • Классика

  • @ 1:47 -- that's a dog-whistle note, man.

  • thank you whomever...NEVER even heard/knew of this cat....GODDAMN!!!....I'm addicted and a FAN after 30 seconds...yeah i see where Gilbert, Satriani, Friedman, and so many other GREATLY talented and diverse musicians get influence from this guy!

  • what a great musician !

  • At first: Uli is great and there is no doubt. To all the guys who love this kind of guitar playing - go to " joel Xavier" (sr. Fado) you,ll be love it.

  • Hey its Malmsteens Dad Holy shit.

  • @stevefromthunderbay Yeah he was insired by Roth.

  • @stevefromthunderbay you are a moron dude

  • @spazzhundt Did I hit a nerve? Maybe you suck him off every night after the show. He's the greatest nancy, dont get your panties in a knot.

  • @stevefromthunderbay Fuck you . I'm sure your only talent is fingering your ass and getting a hard on from the stink

  • Comment removed

  • @stevefromthunderbay Too bad your Mama didn't flush after she squeezed you out into the toilet

  • @stevefromthunderbay Ass*hole considering I can play this video on guitar while jerking off should indicate to you, that you cannot win this conversation. Go back to playing guitar hero faggot!

  • @stevefromthunderbay Hey you stupid cunt, don'f for a second think you can play anywhere near as good. You are a turd, stick to licking your Mama's asshole

  • @spazzhundt I'm willing to say I can. I bet you 1k that I can outplay you anytime. oooops your prob on welfare, moron.

  • @stevefromthunderbay

not even close to Uli Jon Roth

  • @stevefromthunderbay

He became father at the age of 8?

    Holy shit

  • @taj334 Yes he did! Problem ?

  • There is no better! I love this man. I met him, he helped my Manny!

  • name any one that has that tone and feel???

  • wow! man is incredible

  • uli is an amazing musician. i cant think of one that is in my opinion better that includes vai malmsteen petruci satriani and many others.

i am sure that if he had lives a few hundred years ago he would have been as famous as mozart, bach and.....

very inspiring! too bad he is not as famous as other great guitarists

  • @ironmsa Well, he can be the gem of the people who appreciate real music...I mean do you really want little kids running around listening to Justin Beiber, Hannah Montana, Britney Spears and whoever else in the pop world today...listening to this, it'd be embarrassing if that were so...

  • He's in a league all by himself. Incredibly skilled

  • Lo Maximo !!!!

  • this song is like far beyond the sun !!!

  • @KARNAGE94 far byond the sun is like this you mean

  • @KARNAGE94 Thats because Fat Yngwie stole it from him...

  • What good is the critically acclaimed, work of human innovativeness Sky Guitar if it is used to play garden variety bluesy, Deep Purple's style rock?

  • Just because an idiot who doesn't know that all James Hetfield does is riff doesn't have enough musical talent to feel the emotion of the guitar player, doesn't mean that there IS no emotion. Some people don't feel it because they have different musical tastes. However, whether you feel it or not, I guarantee you... if you stepped on stage to try to have a guitar duel with this man, you would either be booed off of stage depending on your level of suck, or if you're good, still completely lose.

  • Uli was a major influence on the two most influential guitarists of the 1980's.

YJM admits it but EVH, (as far as I've know) hasn't given props.

I heard that before VH made it big, they toured with the Scorpions.

  • @willievega Uli's one of my influences as well!!!! :)

  • @DrGiggles68 You couldn't pick a better one!

  • the originator and godfather of neo classical sweep guitar!! and barely anyone knows what a shame. yngwie always thanks hendrix and blackmore but its totally obvious where he got his chops. the best guitarist of today dream theater, jeff loomis, etc. all do arpeggio sweeps and are just now catching up to what uli was doing 40 years ago!!!!!!!!!!

  • AMAZING

  • Very tasteful REAL guitar playing from the heart NOT the head or excuse me .. from the prick either.... know what I mean. Truly creative expression.

  • Comment removed

  • no uli= no yngwie, yngwie took more from this guy than anyone, glad he did, hell, even the sound of his guitar is yngwie. now all u roth fans - type in little savage by yngwie malmsteen and see what he learned from his father

  • Awesome player! Thanks for posting!

  • O.o mistake 4:17

  • This guy is too cool for school!!! He's always been inspiring me. music.heeger.org

  • 33 frets. Crazy.

  • Yeaah ! ^^ Sweeping !

  • He really needs to shave off the moustache.!

  • Some guys make me proud to be a muso.

Uli make me proud of the guitar.

there is no other Rock song like this anywhere.

  • @grogandroppa Actually there is. This song is quite similar to Yngwie's "Far Beyond the Sun".

  • This song is so amazing, I had my old computer with a lot of his songs but my friend got a some virus looking at child porn on it and needless to say I got far away from that computer... anyways, it's hard to get those songs back. amazing talent this guy is. Especially with those sweeps! I'd do anything to sweep.

  • This guy has so much technical skill it blows me away. Definetely on the same level as Satriani or Petrucci.

  • @wave60 Only thing is Uli was doing it about 20 yrs. before them : P

  • Comment removed

  • That's exactly how I sound...

    ...kidding.

  • Is that Barry Sparks?

  • Uli is fucking awesome ,great guitarist and of course better than hetfield

  • mesmerising

  • Wikipedia say this guy is the one who first used shredding

  • Maybe he plays not as fast as all the Yngwies did later times. But his techniques are the roots of that what all his successors accomplished in perfectness. For me he is one of the godfathers of modern playing. Just whatch him sweeping at 1:01

and 4:33 or when he plays crescendos e.g at 3:20.

  • @MegaHellfire666 uli compromises speed for fluidity and the sheer smoothness of his sound is indicative of true virtuosity. he can play just as fast as any of them(probably faster) than most but he prefers to use every technique imaginable to create a virtual wall of sound. No guitarist alive puts the kind of emotion in their playing that Uli does on a daily basis, the sheer emotive quality of his music defies genre it is more than shredding it is more than Prog rock, It is ULI Fucking ROTH

  • easy to see who Yngwie copied (and now pretends he invented it all)

Roth and Blackmore - scalloped frets and all

    ;-)

  • Listen to Firewind (1980) & Beyond the astral skies (1984)! Now you know where those posers Malmsteen & Vai got their stuff. :) I never want to hear from anyone else that malmsteen "invented" this neo-classical style! period!

  • Gehört zum geilsten, was an Gitarrarenkunst je gemacht wurde.

  • Fuck!! Now I undestand why this is one of the favorites guitarrist by Slash!! Really great!

  • uli, please come to norway :)

  • @EngelNr666 Hehe, tviler litt på at det er Uli sjæl som har lagt ut videoen på youtube!

  • How many frets does that bloody thing have? Like 32?

  • hah! This is rock and blues kustom bike show and festival in Pentrich Derbyshire England. I dont know if this is the same showing I went to, but he joined stage with Micheal Schenker at the one i went to. Which was when Scorpions played. Good festival, it seems to have gone down the drain since i last checked though :(
