@callum1231234 this device isn't a performance device and will lag when multi-tasking, but, it will handle all you've mentioned with ease. The capacitive touch screen really makes a positive difference and is so much more finger-friendly compared to resistive touch on their prior devices (archos 5 i.t.)

@pikabko I agree with you, I have the Archos 101 and now hate it with no intent to get anything from Archos again unless they really up their game: however good try to them and for the money not bad but getting Motorola Xoom 3G+4G next week instead. Though twice the price you get a superb Tablet+PC in one :-)

I don't mind having their quality name on display - and with all the tablets currently in circulation surely they want to promote their brand. For info i currently use an apple ipad and iphone 4, so i am not anti apple in any way [both are very usable and perfect for what i use them for] - but i am fond of Archos as a brand - maybe i'm somewhat biased from my previous experience with Archos?

This looks like a great bargain. Samsung Galaxy and iPad cost twice as much. What am I missing out on by going for Archos instead of the premium brands?

Is the touch screen a bit unresponsive? What about battery life? And how about modding the operating system, adding software/apps?

@soundslave the touch screen is just as responsive as the iPads screen. Battery life if about 4 hours. Adding software and apps is very easy with appslib and the android market and its also very easy to download applications on your computer and put them on the archos.

I'm new to the whole wi-fi thing. How does it connect to the internet - does it need a dongle - or does it have something like that built in? Where can I receive wi-fi - can I pay for it - can I set up a network in my house, if so, how?

This has Wifi built in!

You will need a wireless router to plug in your broadband router, but some times modern broadband packages come with the wireless functions now. Check with your provider.

If you want to use it out in the street then you can snyc it with a 3g mobile but check on supported models or you can get a somethin called mifi (3g)

Wifi= think of walkie talkies but one plugs into a phone socket (limited range about 10 meters apart)

3G= mobile phone connectivity, very costly!

@isura7 yes, they are ,it depends if your college offers the pdf format or other formats wich are fully compatible with the device or, you can get it through out the traditional way in the internet. This device has open office app, whit this app you can display and edit microsoft office documents, and for your convenience you can attach a keyboard to make it faster and easier. I'm not advertising this product but I considered it a better option compared to the ipad

Great price however I've watched many videos about this device and here is what i think: laggy, not responsive, plastic look, and even though not an Apple fan boy, I think this is not a nice device at all. Apple at least has a nice built quality, way more responsive, and not laggy at all. All I owned from Apple so far an Ipod touch 4th gen and it works great and used a few times Apple Ipad and even though this has better specs, for me it fails. Just my opinion, that's all...
