yes, it's a phrase meaning "to be in a difficult situation/ having no way out"

The methaphour is having been caught in a daed end road with nowhere to escape (with your back to the wall).

Du hast recht, aber prinzipiell ist es schon nicht unwichtig zu wissen, was "Wir sind Helden" heisst...das alleine macht viele Texte etwas verständlicher.

Ja, da hast Du recht. Der Satz klingt ein bisschen wie "Kinder-Englisch". Ich wollte einfach den Satz "Give it to me" meiden, weil er mir zu viele Assoziationen zu Musikvideos mit irgendwelcher irritierenden, halb nackten Pop-Sängerin gibt. Aber vielen dank für den Hinweis und die netten Wörter. ^^

@robinb88 I think in this case you can use the term "Give it to me" because the context clearly determines what she means, respectively it is clear that she does not mean this :D. Further you could also say "Let me carry it".

Excellent job translating. I know I'm probably just being picky but, "Ich kann aushalten" is a lot closer in meaning to "I can hold out/I can endure it" rather than "I can hold it." Its almost a direct translation ^_^

Thank you! :D I am pretty sure she is singing "Ich kann es halten" though. I think she's referring to some kind of mental burden on this person, saying that she can carry that burden metaphorically.
