  • OMG, when I heard u sing I thought it was the song that was playing!

  • :)

  • ITS DANE COOK ON GUITAR!

  • That " don't rise your middle finger too high " joke is killing me.

  • @DigitalArrowStudios Wait a minute, sorry that's completely wrong :P

  • @DigitalArrowStudios Strumming every half-beat :)

  • I cant see the chord for E sus. how do you play it?

  • @bamboogleek110011 Like an A one string up (well, down technically. It's one string closer to your heard.)

  • The tutorials are very nice, thankyou, but I must agree that the "hey there kids" and constant plugs are not appealing and frankly annoying.

  • why "hey there kids"? what if im 50 years, and i'm just still learning guitar?

  • You should get together with Jon Lajoie to make the best ever music video! :D

  • great job but i cant see ur fingers well enough, and since there are varieties of finger positions for each chord idk which one to do

  • A little lesson that I picked up from John Frusciante when it comes to that F#m or pretty much any bar chord is to use your thumb.

    E 2nd Fret - Thumb

    A 4th Fret - 3st Finger

    D 4th Fret - 4nd Finger

    G 2nd Fret - Bar w/1st Finger

    B 2nd Fret - Bar w/1st Finger

    e 2nd Fret - Bar w/1st finger

Hope that helps some people, sure makes bar chords a walk in the park for me.

  • "Don't lift it up too high though." *stare*

  • DANE COOK I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you may quite possibly be my favorite guitar guru on youtube :D

thanks & keep doing what you do!

it's been REALLY helpful for this little beginner here (:

if it's not to much to ask, can i reaqest "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane?

    Love you Lots :D

  • Guitargod!

So simple yet so awesome. You make guitarplaying accesible to anyone, beginner, intermediate or advanced!

  • Dude this is awesome!!! :D i was just wondering if you could do a video of can't stand me now by the libertines?

  • I never get thumbs up :(

  • People who don't have a capo:

use a pencil and an elastic band :)

  • remember kids...don't raise your middle finger too high on the Dsus2.

  • Yes thanks Mate for all your help and even though we have never met THANK YOU. T

  • good thankyou , to share / a mayor /e mayor/ D mayor and F# menor. and add all 7 acep F# ok.

  • i like this man he acts like hes your dad in a good way

  • 6:50

  • im sayin ya do

  • what are the names of the chorsd?

  • for the intro, how many times did you strum between chords? A___A is like 4 times and the rest are 2? o.o

  • Thank you for doing this :) It really helped me out with learning this song. Thanks Guitar Sage!

I just have one question, what is the strumming pattern that you use?

  • The first song I learned to play on guitar was Furtive Monologue by Despised Icon. A stupid first song to start with when I see this.

  • "What's a split measure?" ha ha

  • You have really helped me learn guitar so much.. Thank you for all the videos.. They are really helpful and really easy to catch even though i am new to the guitar world.

  • dane cook? hahah you rock

  • great lesson thank you

  • ...thanks, it was awesome, clear and easy!!! :D

  • I love how he looks away and comes back and says "by coldplay" lol.

  • dude u rock

  • do you have to have use a capo for this?

  • thank you sooooo much for this tutorial. This song is so hard to play in the right key when not using a capo ( please tell me its the right key i havnt checked it yet!!!)

  • "what's a split measure?!"

  • i have the same capo :D

  • aaargh YOUR CAPO IS WONKYYYY >.<

yes, i am such a neat freak, siiigh

  • do you know where i can find advanced chords- im 14 and have been playing for 6 years

  • @AshwipeDOG There's a chord book you can buy@ a Music store that has 7,488 chords in it.The title is simply:7,488 guitar chords by Jay Arnold. It shows you 34 different chords in all keys and positions on the neck...it's great!

  • Great video. Too bad Yellow is one of the few songs that really sounds better on an electric guitar. Good job with it though.

  • great video

  • are you jon lajoie?

  • @mciniello oh my god!!! i was wondering, this guy looks like .... but i couldn't figure it out............ JON LAJOIE! thanks for pointing that out! now i shall stop thinking, too much stress in the head! :)

  • @mciniello THAT'S A FREAKING GOOD QUESTION! INTENSE LIKE;)

  • cool brah

  • great, just great! helps a lot!!! you're awesome!

  • you are sooooooooooooo cuteeeeeeeeeeee

  • ur amazing! thanks sooo much :)

  • thank you. best guitar teaching videos by far.

  • my fingers are really small.. its hard to get them across all 6 strings for a bar chord. i can only cover 4-5. help?

  • @namibe11 It shouldn't really matter if your fingers cant stretch across the 6 strings, it just means there will be no bass note in the chord. Hey be thankful your fingers arent too small to play guitar :)

  • thanks for another great lesson. i'm finally getting somewhere on the guitar. thanks again :)

  • Sounds good. I am at work. Cant wait till i get home to try it out.

  • are yamaha's sounds good? im afraid tu buy it :S

  • alguien puede subtitular el video en español??

  • Is there a replacement for the bar chord??

i just started out on guitar a couple of months ago, and i already play about 11 songs, so can you possibly help me out with the stupid bar chord??

  • @rashashrief dont even think about replacing barre chords.. practice them and you'll soon feel comfortable with them trust me.. if you ignore them, you'd be limiting your options for songs greatly

  • @outlaweda Yup...

  • @outlaweda

Yeah it´s true. People are just too lazy to practice things to learn something these days..

  • @rashashrief practice it till you fingers bleed

  • do you have tabs for 2 guitars? :D

and your voice is amazing :D

  • could u post the shheeet music for this?

  • 2 simple words. you rock

  • I thought this was an interesting way of playing this song. i play it without a capo but the tuning was E A B G B D#. Still sounds the same. I found coldplay used a lot of wierd tunings on their first album. Like Spies, and Yellow for example. But they sound great though. :)

  • "What's a split measure?" haha nice.

  • Top lesson, but I have to state. You look a lot like Paul Rudd.

  • @B05W3L1 lol paul rudd's awsome ROLE MODELS

  • barre chords are awesome, makes it feel more guitaristt - I can play guitar chords pretty well and they dont take much practice, just hurts like hell sumtimes..

  • What's the strum O.O ?

  • you don't "need" a capo. Just get better with your barres, lazy.

  • Hahaha you could buy one but if you 1) have no money or 2) are to cheap to buy one use a couple of rubber bands and a pencil lol But other than that great tutorial man love your work.

  • hehe very cute

  • awesome personality. good shiz my dude

  • Very nice. Very nice. I love it.

  • too fast

  • "whats a split measure" xD

  • @MrSamwisee

    1 mesure : 1 sec/ 1 hit

    split mesure : 1 sec/ 2 hits

  • Dude you are my guitar idol. Man your good with a guitar :)

  • You kind of look like Lucas from House.

  • Great lesson; you got right into it without a bunch of fluff. You made it clear and simple.

  • "Just lift your middle finger. Don't lift it up too high though..." hahaha that was cute. Thanks for the great lesson!

  • very good

    thanks ;)

  • Lol don't lift it up too much ;)

    nice lesson subbed

  • we don't mind bar chords...:)

  • For those who have difficulty with the barre chord, A major works just as well in the place of F#. It does not mean you should forget the barre chord, by all means keep practicing, but for those who want to hear the song without the trouble, just use A major.

  • can you tell me a webpage with that chords please i dont understand some of them

  • nice !!! thank for your lesson :) . check my version (vidéo comment)

  • christ ppl, if you dont know how to strum or play a note, or what the strings are then dont try to ask too much: strumming isnt really something someone tells you, like 1,2,3,4. its really just a feeling, listen to the song then u just feel it like that...i dont know, I cant be told, 1-4, or whatever, BUT aside, teacher good. thanks for the basics i got er.

  • This guy is great,and he's also very funny.Great teacher :-)

  • Is it necesary the thingy that goes before the chords??

  • the thingy is called a cappo ;)

  • @kk1993kk thanks! I really needed the name xD lol

  • May someone please tell me the strum pattern. I'm not good enough to pick it out yet.

  • thank you

  • i love this!

  • Is there a way you can play it without the capo?

  • if you have thre right kind of tuner u can tune it as if it had a kapo and u juss play it open and it will sound like u have a kapo

  • ok thnks...im just starting to learn so......

  • ...yeah but if you did that to play this song using the same chords u're gonna really strain your guitar and strings...

  • 3:42 is hilarious: your stare at 3:45 made me crack up!! XD

  • thanks a lot!

  • Great job, I think it takes talent to sing, even if it's not the greatest, and play the notes/chords (whatever) in sync. Once again, awesome job!

  • @arniemazmax

Ahem...hear after referred to as SHDs...

  • dont like the 'hey kids'

  • i luv the hey kids

  • you look like paul rudd

  • U are very good, plz u have this class in spanish? thank u,

    Martin

  • does anyone no the strumming pattern... :S

  • strum down all the way

  • down 8 times except during the chorus...or watch marty schwartz he breaks it all down for you.

  • i love your voice :)

  • great lesson thanks!

  • I cant even see what to do on the E Sus, so im feckedd :(

  • on the esus all you do is play a regular e but put your little finger underneath your 3rd finger on the same fret (so the g string)

  • thank you :)

  • don't call me a kid!

  • SEHR GUUT

  • Dang it now I have to dig up my capo.

  • Can you explain you stumming, even though I can pretty much figure it out, but I am not quite excuting it right?

    thanks,

  • if i'm not wrong .. it's mostly all down strums ..

it goes like big - small - big - small

    big being strumming all strings

small being touching (maybe) jus the top 2 strings ..

    my 2¢ =)

  • yes... i thought it was up, down strums, but its just down

  • this is amazing i learnt this after watching the video twice. you are simply an amazing teacher.

  • NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

    BAR CHORD!!!!!!

    Well,at least there's a different way to play a F# minor....

  • what's the different way to play F# minor?

  • u can play an F# minor a different way but then that would requires knowing the whole guitar and notes on each fret on each string. Don't be lazy and practice your bar chords because it will help out A LOT.

  • y do u people always panic when there's a barre chord? learn it because you WILL need it a lot in the future.

  • @vukbui1987 barre chord are bloody hard for newbies, but it's so worth learning

  • @vukbui1987 nicely

    said

  • @vukbui1987 how can people NOT be able to, or know how to, play a barre? It's the first thing you should learn when starting to play the guitar.
