is there any out of ship playing?

@cookryu not allot you can walk around in a small room in a station and watch tv... but they are going to add allot more so you can hang out, and play casino games. the game Dust 514 is a ps3 game that will allow people in eve to pay players in dust to attack planets so that's sort of out of ship playing. but in eve there is no reason to get out of your ship.

A pretty good review, better then Yahtzee's. With that i mean that you actually gave a better picture of what the game is all about. The only thing that was a bit of a downside was the voice breaking up a bit.

@753345 yeah i realise how long it has been going mate - i started in '04 and have seen a steady decline in both the quality of the updates and new content. There is also alot less people continuing to subscribe. And with this last bonk update.... well like i said, 5 years!

@lordgirrit You can get a 14 day trial at EVE website, in that time you should be able to afford the next ship class above, the starter ship is free of course. Next ship class you would take is Frigate class, if you do missions you'll get a frigate within the week.

No purchase is needed on the software itself, you only pay for active membership.

I recommend looking for help if you're new in the game, recruitment channel will be a good place to start looking for future company.

Do you have to pay (apart from the initial purchase of the software) to play the game? I heard it's really hard to get a better ship, and that your stuck with the same stuff for ages. How fast *(in approx hours) does it take to get a better ship you like for example (obviously not top but next on up)? THanks.

It is a complicated game with poorly thought out atributes because you can kill thousands of NPCs and not gain a single skill point. The skill learning system is completely separate which makes no sense. There is constant lag, and the server goes down every day, sometimes multiple times a day randomly because they have to constantly fix bugs and systems crashing. WOW, Everquest, etc have a much more stable and intelligent setup, don't require a powerful video card, and cost less per month!

The one thing that CCP hasn't changed is the tiny fonts on the games UI, unless of course you are playing the game on 1024 x 768 then its ok. But don't expect to see any HD graphics at that resolution.

An alright review I suppose, but I have to say your dull monotone not only makes the review sound boring (though this might be appropriate in the case of EVE, har har har) but it's so grating to listen to that I had half a mind on hitting the back button throughout.

Also, you misunderstood Yahtzee's meaning of "biggest boots". He's not merely talking of most damaging attacks, he's referring to anything giving a player an inherent advantage, such that make matches decided before they start.
