Question to answer: are we opposed to war which excludes defensive? If so then you need to DEFINE "defensive." If you are opposed to any war(killing) in any shape, way, or form, then indeed you shall put a smile on many evil (and demon) faces. Enjoy the "new world leader" when he comes (may that be in a form of a new Hitler or a deceiver slowly taking away rights/privileges) .
My view: if you go to war, the side which shows the most peace, is most deserving, and should make it's self heard!

maybe one day "Utopian" views like this will not be laughed at, but considered as a serious possibility.. when enough people stop laughing and analyze what 'benefits' a war has for us, the citizens, and realize aside from the subsidization of fear of some oppressors over seas, theres nothing to be gained and much much to lose.
"The poor fight the wars for the rich" - That is the most truthful thing I have heard. Whether it's a GI bill to make college affordable, or an extra 8 grand to enlist to fight overseas, economics fuels enlistment (especially now). A careful combination of money, opportunity and honor makes being a soldier beneficial for the middle and lower class. Any government sending their people to war should be considered traitorous to their own. When will we stop accepting justification for brutality?

Great speaker and thinker... it's just too bad that his views aren't more widely held by the mainstream public. People like Zinn are the people we need to include or at least consult when building a government for the people. The people in control of our societies are the same people with a vested intrest in war and profit... let's put a none of the above box on all ballets and if no one gets a majority... then back to the polls with new candidates.

OK, now explain to me the physiological difference between this great man and those who kill. Is there not a basic difference in brain-structure? It's time to focus the Human Genome Project on what really matters: The likely GENETIC differences between those who kill and those who wont! (and then lock all the warmongers in a thunderdome and let them shred eachother into obsolescence).
