My mate said he saw Manowar play Cross Keys College (near Newport S Wales) in the 80's. Talked about their furry boots (he was a Kiss/WASP fan) and only later in the 90's a Manowar convert. I will be seeing them in Cardiff tonight 6th Nov 2011. Whoo hoo! Hail and Kill!

ross the boss is a smashing guitarist.hes got solos you can hum in your head.a real good beefy 70s sound.he also looked the least poofy on the record covers.karls guitar is too processed and thin soundy(kinda randy rhoads v ross the boss's tony iommi)i play guitar myself but i dont dig too much widly widly with no power
also karl looks too much like a nice quiet softly spoken guy not someone from conan the barbarian.got my birmingham ticket for their triumphant return.

Manowar really need to start planning a UK tour. They're leaving us British brothers & sisters in the dark! I'd love nothing more than Manowar to tour the UK. I guess there's no doubt that Karl is way better guitarist than Ross...but tell me something,is only riffs what you're looking for in a metal band like Manowar?
a better technical player thats all. faster. who cares?.the soloing in tracks like gloves of metal and warlord are for more powerful than anything karl has come up with. and as far as riffs well g o m, metal daze blood of the kings are just a few samples of the riffs joey used to write. sorry but all the other stuff is just window dressing. it the riffs that make metal metal and not orchestras,operas,pianos and acoustic guitars.
also a great illustration of what i'm trying to point out is the battle hymms where every member of the band shows up to play check out ross' solo compared to karls. ross does this full on impassioned solo and karl falls back on tired tapping and that reverse left hand thing just for speed.

With Joey he produced classical masterpieces as Battle Hymn , Hail and Kill , Kings of Metal,Sign of the Hammer , Black wind , fire and steel...and i think that's more worthy than little differencies of guitar skill.

hands down ross the boss is the best guitarist manowar had. He is bluesy and smooth, reminds me alot of Tony Iommi. Shankle was a mindless shredder and Karl Logan lacks feeling in his playing....
to me both Logan and Shankle have some kind of feeling, despite being shredders - but I have to agree Ross is the best. choosing the right notes is hard, and he does it perfect.
I saw them on the same tour at the Winter Gardens in Bournemouth. The show had originally been scheduled for the Southampton Gaumont but moved to a smaller venue because of poor ticket sales. Mercyful Fate were due to support but cancelled - leaving Manowar to announce they would play an extended set to compensate. As in Leeds the audience barely half filled the venue but Manowar played their asses off. They returned to the UK later the same year but the show wasn't a patch on this first visit.
Mercyful Fate,Iron Maiden,Priest,Diamond Head,WASP,Helloween,Accept,Metal Church,Armored Saint,Candlemass,Savatage,Vicious Rumors,Crimson Glory,Fifth Angel,Loudness.... do need more??? those are just the well known bands,but the list could be longer than this (and I didn't count the thrash metal bands,which at that time owned)
no monkey business on this era, they remained true kings until the triumph of steel tour, after that they replaced the balls and sweat for violins and keyboards, what a pitty.
Come on, it's a matter of taste. Try to see it like this: Manowar either touches a string in you or they don't. Someone (like me for example) just gets a feeling of triumph, pictures of lost kingdoms and glorious battles while listening to the music and the other one doesn't. If you don't, you of course find the stage acting exaggerated and that's okay. But if you feel the music, it fits perfectly and you'll love it.
So there is no need in putting us fans and Manowar down.
Even if one looks at them from an impartial point of view, he has to admit that Eric has great vocal abilities and acknowledge their songwriting abilities. Problem is that most people that don't like Manowar are not impartial. They got their bad opinions of Manowar from magazines and internet forums without knowing their great songs.
So, so true my friend. A lot of people dislike Manowar because shitty magazines like Kerang put them down. Lets all jump of the Manowar-hating bandwagon, even though a lot of these so-called "haters" have never even listened to a single album.
Of course I apologise for such a personal attack. However - you still can't convince me that this is nothing more than vacuous, empty bombast. I was weaned on Iron Maiden, so believe me, I know my overblown pomposity when I see it! I note that a recent youtube post from same said song remains virtually identical to this one, despite the lapse of two decades. Three drummers, four guitarists, still shit. I'm sorry to disabuse you of the notion that this is great, but Manowar are awful.

hands down ross the boss is the best guitarist manowar had. He is bluesy and smooth, reminds me alot of Tony Iommi. Shankle was a mindless shredder and Karl Logan lacks feeling in his playing....

I saw them on the same tour at the Winter Gardens in Bournemouth. The show had originally been scheduled for the Southampton Gaumont but moved to a smaller venue because of poor ticket sales. Mercyful Fate were due to support but cancelled - leaving Manowar to announce they would play an extended set to compensate. As in Leeds the audience barely half filled the venue but Manowar played their asses off. They returned to the UK later the same year but the show wasn't a patch on this first visit.

Mercyful Fate,Iron Maiden,Priest,Diamond Head,WASP,Helloween,Accept,Metal Church,Armored Saint,Candlemass,Savatage,Vicious Rumors,Crimson Glory,Fifth Angel,Loudness.... do need more??? those are just the well known bands,but the list could be longer than this (and I didn't count the thrash metal bands,which at that time owned)

Come on, it's a matter of taste. Try to see it like this: Manowar either touches a string in you or they don't. Someone (like me for example) just gets a feeling of triumph, pictures of lost kingdoms and glorious battles while listening to the music and the other one doesn't. If you don't, you of course find the stage acting exaggerated and that's okay. But if you feel the music, it fits perfectly and you'll love it.
So there is no need in putting us fans and Manowar down.

Even if one looks at them from an impartial point of view, he has to admit that Eric has great vocal abilities and acknowledge their songwriting abilities. Problem is that most people that don't like Manowar are not impartial. They got their bad opinions of Manowar from magazines and internet forums without knowing their great songs.

Of course I apologise for such a personal attack. However - you still can't convince me that this is nothing more than vacuous, empty bombast. I was weaned on Iron Maiden, so believe me, I know my overblown pomposity when I see it! I note that a recent youtube post from same said song remains virtually identical to this one, despite the lapse of two decades. Three drummers, four guitarists, still shit. I'm sorry to disabuse you of the notion that this is great, but Manowar are awful.
