Good thing Alan came out without his guitar, because he doesn't play it. He has a great voice but when it comes to playing the guitar, he's a FAKE!!! If you can find a video of Alan Jackson playing the guitar by himself (solo) please let me know. Thanks!
That's exactly what I would say IF I coulndn't carry a tune in a five gallon bucket! If you don't like it, don't listen. Only losers would diss an awesome artist like Alan. J@ck off loser!!!!!!
WOW! I ran into Alan Jackson one day in a mall, And what a GREAT GUY!, but what an honor to play with George Jones. Way to go Alan. You're definately one fo my faves. But George tops my list.
My ole buddy Jerry Chesnut wrote this after coming home early one morning to find his wife had left him. He told me he'd written a few songs and was making some money, he and his wife bought a nice house. He always wanted a rose garden, and he planted it outside of a big picture window. He thought to himself " everything else has gone to shit but it was a good year for the roses ". He sat down at the kitchen table and 20 minutes later he had another hit on his hands.
Dammit folks... It just dont get no better than this right here...the song or the singers! We still have true blue country music...its just few and far between... Lets NEVER let this die!
wonderful george jones was my late husband hero, and mine to i have every song he ever recorded i get to thinking about my husband i get george out and play all my songs then i feel better we always went to see him when he was in concert in our town thank you george for all the music and happiness you brought to us during our marriage not many couple enjoy the same person singing like we did married for 38 years when he pass high school sweetheart like i said thanks for the memories to
Anyone have a copy of the extremely rare copy of Alan Jackson and Elvis Costello dong this? Saw it once on CMTV in UK and have never seen or heard again. Best version I ever heard. leave message if you have a coppy.
Am I the only one who remembers or did I just imagine it? I recall seeing on CMT Alan Jackson doing this with Elvis Costello. Does anyone else remember or am I going mad?
Alan Jackson has never sold out his roots. He hasn't been at it near as long as George has but this is like the changing of the guard. There will never be another George Jones but no one will ever come Closer than Alan Jackson.
but at least you thought you wanted it thats so much more than i can say for me, one of several lines in a wonderfully written song, how much better can you get than alan jackson and the true king of country music George jones in a duet..!
george jones was one of the best singers out there when he was alive my grandfather got his cd when he was alive and i feel in love with this song when i listen to this song it brings back memories when i was a kid
It's not about the pants, but the handing of the torch from one legend to another. Ya'll need to keep your potty mouths closed and show a little respect to others who admire these 2 icons.
@AuH2O This is not a fashion show. Maybe those are his lucky jeans. LOL It is called not caring what other people think. A big problem in this Country !!!! Besides I think a man is so sexy with a sport coat, dress shirt and jeans. If he walked out wearing a T-shirt and shorts with pink hearts HE STILL LOOKS SO GOOD--DOES IT MATTER. Could it be you are a little jealous? HE IS JUSST PURE SEXY !!!!!!
@AuH2O thats not cool dont be a waist of human space.. if u dont have anythng good to say keep it to yourself.. i hope your parents didnt fail in raising you right and you just had 1 to many in ya
@DkJdBeAsTmOdEiUm The WASTE of human space around here is you. It would have done you a lot more good to keep your mouth SHUT instead of misspelling "waste" TWICE. Learn to spell before commenting, you stupid waste of human space. Also, anybody defending Alan's choice of pants is either a retard or hopelessly stuck in the 90's.
this is what you call real country music, I dont even listen to the SO CALLED country music that they have out today, I will just keep buying the GOOD stuff like this
@IMFORBIGFOOT hey its the same with every genre of music i myself prefer rock but even thats getting bad im a 90s girl very few artists are still out there that have good honest talent
oh this song is great, and every time i hear Alan Jackson, its bitter sweet,he was my 12 year old daughters favorite singer, but JESUS called her home on thanksgiving of 2001,she loved Alan Jackson so much.
cause this video has the original country singers who made him where he is today and the other followed in his foot steps. thats country not like today where its all flash and glamour.
Stumbled on this after looking at Elvis Costello version and even though I love Elvis Costello's version this is so much better! Just shows you a good song is good no matter the genre or artist!
It is sad to watch and listen to these men of song and to know that it will all one day pass. however their recordings and music will always be with us.

country like this just doesnt exist anymore and its a crying shame. I grew up with all of these guys, and im only 20. I miss it because i didnt have the appreciation for it that I do now.
@wancaster i agree totally, man. i grew up listening to country and gospel, but around middle school i started listening to rap and then metal, so i got further and further away from it and really didn't wanna hear it for a long time. i'm 27 now, and in the past few years i've come around again and been re-fallin for the older stuff. country nowadays, though, is just pop music with steel guitar, and a pretty face is more important in a music video than a good song and real talent.
All of the country singers that i like not from rating George jones Randy travis Alan jackson Dwoyt yokum George strait Merle haggard Johnny paycheck Johnny cash John aderson Conway twitty Willie nelson Boxcar willie Kris Kristerson and alot more that have the real country vibe
@healthy94 They sure sound great together. And of course everyone knows Alan really admires George----that is a fact he has proven through-out his career

This guy is awesome, Waylon, Strait ,Hag, and Cash all combined into one artist! I don't really hear him on the radio though, I guess that's because he actually has talent.

I am also in my 30s and with family in England. This song is just so great and applies to any time period. As I recall, the song was first recorded in the late 1950s or early 1960s. The lyrics stand true more than 40 years later
Alan Jackson is the real deal. Im sure it was as pleasing to George as it was Alan. They both are resposible for keeping country music alive. It would be a pleasure to meet either one. Thanks to both for the great music. May they both live long and prosper.
Name a country singer today that could talk about cigarettes in an ashtray or a cup of coffee and make you cry?

Alan Jackson is a damn fine singer, but Jones is Jones, and there'll never be another one of those.

Alan Jackson is the real deal. Im sure it was as pleasing to George as it was Alan. They both are resposible for keeping country music alive. It would be a pleasure to meet either one. Thanks to both for the great music. May they both live long and prosper.
