@ccoorepowell I absolutely feel that way. You know in some performances she snaps, yells even, at her audience, or at least certain members of her audiences. And although this would normally be very off-putting to see a performer do, it makes sense to me with Nina. What she does is OPEN her soul, translate a raw emotion into a musical experience. It demands respect! I think she knew that more than anyone else.

The racist Whites of America hated her because she wasn't afraid to talk about race relations and shame them to their faces.
