  • Harry Taylor with the set up in the backline! Love it!

  • This goal is really great. It just shows young kids there is no substitute for hard running. There was no way ablett was gonna get the hands back and 9 times out of ten he probably wouldn't have but he kept running anyway and sure enough it came off.

  • Classic Geelong goal tbh.

  • it was a classic ablett play. wonder how he'll go in the suns this year

  • fuck

  • ablett is sooo overrated.. have you people not seen how many times he handballs backwards in a game? or does dinky little kicks that have no effect on the contest whatsoever. av. 30 touches a game 15 would be backwards, another 10 would have no effect on anything. oh, and he goes to shit when the contest is on the line.... judd is twice the player he will ever be.

  • @masterpro888 excuse me did you just say he goes to shit when the contest is on the line? Youve got to be fucken kidding me. Im a geelong supporter so naturally im not a fan of Gary atm but fuck man, his game lifts 5 notches when it counts. Always count on Ablett when the pressures on, more so than Judd whos living off his reputation from 6 years ago.

  • @toohey119 - Judd certainly has slipped. He played some fucking terrible games in 2010 yet still got 3 brownlow points in them (he's still great though) Even Carlton supporters will tell you how much the umps love him.

I agree completely with your statements about Ablett, too. When the game is on the line there's nobody you would rather have the ball than this man. He's been the best player in the comp the last four years without a doubt (this coming from a Bombers fan by the way)

  • @masterpro888 your right, ablett is sooooo overrated. He may have won the AFLPA award three years in a row and the coaches award three years in a row but what would AFL players and coaches know. masterpro888 is your expert everybody! look no further

  • @masterpro888 your right. ablett is massively overrated. i mean, he may have won the AFLPA MVP award and the coaches MVP award three years in a row but what would they know. They're only AFL players and coaches. Thats not a qualification. I tell you who knows their football....masterpro888 knows his footy....obviously!!

  • abletts soo overated

  • gotta love ablett

  • You people will believe anything. Germany will win the 2010 grand final and im a canadian supporter.

  • 26 seconds from one end to the other..watch out 'Aints

  • geelong is going to win the premiership and im a st kilda fan

  • Well you are correct. What a great game. This one will go down in history. St Kilda were valiant in defeat but Geelong surely deserved the win.

  • Really? I'm a Cats supporter and I thought the Sainters would win :S Poor Riewoldt though - his face was a picture of anguish after the siren - you guys have the goods to get it next year though

  • both teams deserved the win but st kilda where unlucky not conseding the goals...

  • your name is abblet09, 1 you spelled it wrong and 2 you are clearly a cats fan.

  • You're a Saints fan yet your name is Abblet09?

  • ...a st kilda fan with the name 'abblet09' and a display pic of ablett....

  • I went to this game. Sad day to be a St Kilda supporter.

  • So will next week :p (Good luck)

  • Amazing, just one of nine goals scored by Geelong in that quarter - nine out of eleven.

  • I'm a Cats fan, but I sense a Saints premiership. St. Kilda finished the H/A season strongly in 2008 jumping into 4th, but were kind of lackluster in the finals. Now this time around, the Saints have finished the H/A season on the back foot, so that could mean they come out blazing in the finals. Only time will tell if I am right.

  • now come on..how about getting some of that Cat's belief back!! Look..StKilda definitely deserve premiership favoritism but Geelong is looking a lot more settled now after a run of injuries..their interchange is starting to look experienced again for one thing..Geelong have had heaps of experience in the close ones (against the quality sides) over the last couple of seasons and mostly come out on top when it matters..if Geelong put on their best work it will be 2 out of 3!

  • Wow, that almost did happen. Thank gosh it didn't. GO CATS!!!

  • Look at St.Kilda from last year and now this year! Lets hope cats win the grand final. (even though I'm a carlton suppoeter, carlton won't play in the grand final this year)

  • Told ya Taylor was a spud.... Arse ll beat class once maybe twice but thats it. Carn Saints

  • Yep. What a shame Roo got the better of him in a H&A game in July.

  • I'm glad someone else realises he is a spud. I've tried to tell a few people via youtube and they act all annoyed over what I know.

  • he is 24 and already has classical gary ablett... that doesnt make sense

  • Comment removed

  • Nice contested mark! Hes fucken by himself, Harry Taylor is a spud

  • And yet in his first season he tore St Kilda's star centre-half forward and captain to shreds. Must be a decent spud.

  • haha im right with u there hoever06 people must forget that harry taylor killed riewoldt and the last two meetings

  • @hoever06 - He's more than a decent spud, he's in the top 5 defenders in the league at the moment, for mine.

Also easily should've taken Norm Smith medal in '09 GF. Chappy was good. Taylor was absolutely brilliant.

  • @hoever06 wat happened this year? reiwoldt fucken owned the absolute shit out of him!

  • @woodycoolas What happened this year is that Taylor was All-Australian and Saint Nick wasn't. One game doesn't mean much, unless it's the big one. Still see the saints getting the flag tho even though I'm a cats fan.

  • @tamoril yeh maybe thats because nick didnt play for more than half of the season!

  • @woodycoolas and hows nick reiwoldt and your team of spastics doing this year?

  • @tamoril - Taylor's underrated by most. He's an elite AFL footballer and he plays on the very best the competition has to offer, and is rarely ever beaten.

Taylor also should have had the Norm Smith in 2009. He was the best player on the ground that day.

  • @nvsliz Haha funny.

  • @nvsliz what?

  • @nvsliz Destroyed Nick Reiwoldt in the grand final. Superstar. All Australian.

  • @nvsliz All Australian CHB.

  • @nvsliz All Australian Centre Half Back, Harry Taylor.

  • @nvsliz What does that say about Nick Riewoldt in this game then? Let's not forget the '09 Grand Final either. Harry Taylor is a quality player. You have no idea about football obviously.

  • @nvsliz I bet you're eating your words as he's still making st kilda forwards look stupid

  • i think itll probably be closer this year (Geelong V St Kilda)

  • you rekon?

  • yeah.. but still geelong win

  • abblett is one fo the greatest of all time and he still has atleast 7 years to play, btw harry taylor and varcoe suk now

  • Taylor came in last year... he was stunning. Harry Taylor without doubt deserves to be in the team so does Varcoe.

  • How much has varcoe improved since then!?

  • loved this goal

i called this at the ground, saw ablett coming off the bench, and u could just see the word goal written on gaz's face

  • Great Goal, ran from half back. Awesome!

  • Not just Mike Sheahan but also Robert Walls. Solid finals series for a first year player, did well on two potent forwards in Riewoldt and Roughead.

  • Roughead? maybe you missed him destroying Geelong in last years Grand Final??

  • 'destroying' with 8 disposals and two goals. Yeah what a great game. Beaten by a first year player.

  • Um maybe you can't remember the match, and just how important those disposals were.

Or maybe I was being harsh on Taylor and should've pointed out how crap Geelong's idiotic Full Forward Mooney was, and how inept the performance of Lonegran was.

  • You said 'destroyed' - 8 possessions and a couple of cherry picked goals does not equal 'destroyed'.

I don't know what Mooney and Lonergan's games have to do with Roughead.

  • Perhaps Taylor did do well on the day, but whether you restrict him to 8 disposals a match, or his career average of 12 per game, the ones that he gets are rarely wasted. His job is to kick goals, or create opportunites for the other forwards around him. Maybe you need to watch a replay of last years Grand Final to watch closely and learn just how damaging Roughead was to Geelong - despite him not racking up a lot of stats. He was involved in several goals - something the stats may not show you

  • lol!

  • I had to retract from my earlier comments, crappycommodore thought Geelong and Taylor did well on Grand Final day. Let's see if Taylor beats Reiwoldt this week.

  • Hey mate read the herald sun go to wesneday's white board... Harry's got riewoldt's number mate... and saints will get no where near geelongs....

  • Only idiots believe what is written in The Herald Sun - that paper is such a dirty rag I wouldn't wipe my ass with it.

  • I never said Geelong did well in the GF. I thought Taylor did ok. But my point is and was that there is no way Roughead destroyed Geelong, as you claimed.

  • The thing I loved about this game was Harry Taylor's mark and how he played on and kicked to Ottens. One of the all time great finals' performance by a first year player to keep Riewoldt to 9 touches and 1 goal. Good on you Harry!

  • Agreed. Really stuck it up Mike Sheahan, who had said he was our weak link in defence.

  • Too right he did. Mike was off with that comment.

  • And you've got to remember that it was only Taylor's first season, there will be plenty more improvement to come this season

  • He's no Ablett...
